Western 'fashion' these days: glue a rubber penis in your forehead and then just call it 'fashion'. That's what everything is these days. I live in the west. I hate this all. The decay, no values, everything is about 'look at me me memmemememeememe'

No one suppressed their freedom of expression. They wore those ridiculous outfits in China and roamed about freely. Just because they were not allowed into a cultural heritage site doesn’t mean their freedom has been suppressed. If I didn’t allow them into my house dressed like that, does it mean I suppressed their freedom? No…

I've been to temples in Thailand that also require those who visit to cover their arms and not wear revealing clothing. The Grand Palace in Bangkok has even more strict rules. Since Thailand is portrayed as a fairly liberal and open country, nobody seems to report on it. China is currently being smeared at every opportunity by the West, and this just seems like feeble attempt to paint China as an inflexible and authoritarian country, without taking into account any context.

They have a so called "fashion firm", therefore I think they deliberately provoked the incident (they knew they would have probably been kicked out like that, it's just common sense) to make up a case on the internet and promote their firm under the momentary spotlight. Otherwise none would know they even exist. The worst kind of opportunists, in my opinion. Thank you Andy for your great work as always!
Correction: To my surprise Rick Owens seems to be very famous.😵‍💫 I honestly didn't know him at all. I still think publicity is never enough, but maybe they went there just for a photoshooting, who knows. I can definitely understand the reaction of the Forbidden City's staff, though...🤣

Rick Owens is already one of the biggest fashion designers in the world. He doesn't need the publicity. I think they went to forbidden city to shoot some photos of his models but I don't think he expected to be told he cant enter. However because he is a rich and famous fashion designer he does not experience being told he cant do something very often (much less cant dress the way he is dresses), and took particular offense. But yeah, Rick Owens the the biggest and most famous "gothic" designer in the world.

Of course publicity is never too much, but if he is so famous he probably isn't used to be denied access as you said. Who knows, maybe if he filed a request for a photoshooting instead of appearing in front of the entrance the way he did he could have find a proper time and spot to do it, but still... it's an historical and heritage site, it's quite normal to deny access to people dressed like the Cenobites from Hellraiser. 😂
