These were so cute I *almost* reconsidered my opinions about learning crochet. But then I looked at the patterns at the end and my brain imploded. But they are very pretty!

Patterns used to overwhelm me a lot when I started to crochet, but once you know what all the abbreviations mean, they already seem way least complicated! The flowers are easy to make and maybe a good place to start? :D you got this!! 🧡 Also thanks so much 🫶

Hello! The flowers are so cute!! I really want to learn how to crochet so I can make little plushies for my friends but I don't know where to start or what hooks and supplies I should use and where to get them? And how do I actually learn? I would appreciate if someone could please help thank you!

Hi, first of all, thank you so much!! 🫶 Secondly, it's so awesome that you want to learn how to crochet, it's so much fun and you can create such beautiful things with it 😍 I know that learning something new can be really overwhelming, so I really hope my reply will make your start a little easier!
When it comes to materials, most of the time you will just need yarn, a fitting crochet hook, scissors and maybe some stitch markers (you could also just use safety pins)
For the yarn, it really depends on how you want your project to feel and look. For example, yarn made out of wool from sheep is really warm but can be itchy, acrylic is usually very cheap, basically every type of yarn has a unique quality. I personally prefer to buy yarn in person, maybe you can look on the internet if there is a store that sells yarn somewhere close to you! I also order a lot from hobbii.com , they are based in Denmark but ship internationally but there are also a bunch of other stores out there!
Now onto the hook :D your hook size will depend on your yarn, usually the description/ label of the yarn will tell you the recommended hook size. How the rest of the hook looks like is up to your preference. I have crochet hooks with a little bit of a bigger, kind of rubber-y handle, since I find it the most comfortable to hold and work with, but there are lots of different ones out there!
You say you would like to make plushies for your friends (which btw is so sweet, your friends are very lucky!), so you could start by looking for "crochet amigurumi ball tutorial" on UA-cam. There you will learn how to make a magic ring, how to work single crochets, increases and decreases and how to make a ball, all of which you will need a lot, when making plushies!
In addition to that, you could look for granny square tutorials, there are a bunch of free ones on UA-cam and they will teach you lots of different stitches!
Once you feel a bit more comfortable, you can go look for patterns, they are the best teachers! There are lots of free ones out there (hobbii.com has patterns for example) or you could buy patterns from all the amazing crochet artists out there that you can find (for example) on Instagram or Etsy. When you start to work with patterns you will probably have to look up how to do every other step (at least, that's what I had to do🤣), but don't let that discourage you! Soon enough you will be able to work through them without problem! And they'll give you lots of knowledge and ideas to some day, create your own designs!
Whew, long reply, but it's always awesome when someone wants to learn something new and I really hope I could help at least a little bit! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask 🤗

@@finnjasartsandcrafts Aww thank you so much you're so kind!! This helps a lot!! You just motivated me a ton, I will definitely try to get some materials and start with some basic tutorials on UA-cam!
