Lee Hongki is one of the greatest singers of his era
Of any era. He is still alive and singing and today I don't know anyone who sings like him. People asking him to sing live in any variety show on the spot and his vocals are the best. Live without filters.
He still is and will always be.
Yup, Lee Hong Gi (the blond one in this video) is the lead singer from F.T. Island. The "G" in "Gi" is pronounced like the "G" in "Go". His voice should be unmistakable to you by this point. 🙂
The song was a collaboration with Yoo Hwe Seung who is the lead singer of another band N.Flying who is also under the same label in South Korea as F.T. Island (FNC Entertainment). N.Flying are a Pop Rock/Rap group.
F.T. Island and N.Flying are actually good friends. Aside from this collaboration, they've also helped each other out when they needed it. At one point, N.Flying's bassist left and they needed a bassist for their Japanese tour so F.T. Island's bassist (Lee Jae Jin) came to fill that spot for them temporarily. There was also another time at some shows where Lee Hong Gi couldn't sing at some scheduled shows to sing for F.T. Island so the N.Flying guys came in to sing his parts.

If you watch FT Island "Hello Hello" and "I Wish" you will hear some totally different styles. And they just came out with a new come back mini album called "Lock Up". The title song is "Unthinkable." They just came back from military service. They are now only 3 members but the best are left, Lee Hong Ki, Lee Jae Jin, and Choi Min Hwan. They also put out a live reboot online concert recently as well.
You need to check out Yoo Hwe Seung singing Queen's " We are the champions!!!!" He nails it!!!

Until recently, I was mainly only a BTS fan. I became a Lee Hong Gi fan from K-dramas, not knowing he was in a band. One of my favorite, Hong Gi K-drama's "You're Beautiful" lead me to become a fan of CNblue. One day, I was watching "You're Beautiful" video clips on UA-cam and this music video came up as recommended. Well, since watching this video, I am now a fan of N.Flying, F.T. Island, CNblue and BTS. It's really unfortunate that both N.Flying and F.T.Island aren't more appreciated. I'm curious, is F.T. Island still an active group these days?
Yeah, FTISLAND is still active. They’ve been on hiatus due to military but the last member finished his service a couple of weeks ago.
They performed on Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook recently and I've heard that FNC plans to schedule more group activities
Yep, they are preparing an album and a solo for Hong Ki. They do their own arrangements, compose and write their lyrics so we have to wait till December maybe... Hong ki has a solo singer with the queen Baek Zi Young. He has a Japanes album, drawing and two acoustic songs. Ft island just recently was on Yu Huechol show and two covers are out there one Ft island covered Monologue it is wonderful and Hong Ki covered Dear Love with traditional and modern instruments. One of a kind.
