Honored that my Grandfather's compositions stand the test of time.
one of the most eye-roller comment sections I've seen in a classical music video
I don't know why people always compare a new musical piece with another they know, and then they say "this part is Chopin, and this part is Liszt, and this part Rachmaninoff, etc" . I always listen to a new piece with new ears, I forget all pieces I had listened to find some new in the composition.
Yes. The thing that annoys me most is when people say things like "this piece is like Chopin, but not as good." Like they feel the need to categorize every piece in a hierarchy. It's a shallow point of view that misses the point of music altogether.
The problem is not that people are comparing one composer's pieces to another's, but the fact of doing this all the time to a lot known composers means that by doing this comparations people are like underapreciating the work of this not at all known composers.
"Copied from..." "Sounds like..." rather than "Inspired from..." There's a huge difference, actually.
This is a stunning piece.....as a ballet accompanist....I'm adding this to my repertoire RIGHT NOW!!!...... THANKS!!
I agree the first four measures could easily turn into Op. 66 but I defy anyone to find a piece that doesn't have patterns that you can find in baroque, classical or romantic repertoire that has gone before. This is a lovely little piece. Those who are kvetching about the performer's mistakes are probably not competent pianists themselves and just want to feel better about themselves.
Kid: Mom, can we get Chopin?
Mom: No, we have Chopin at home.
Chopin at home:
Combination of Fantasie Impromptu and Nocturne in C sharp minor by Chopin
For all the Chopin allusions it is actually his contemporary, Bortkiewicz, that comes to mind, especially his fabulous Prelude in E♭Minor Opus 6. Regardless this is great music and I can't wait to learn it
Agree that this sounds more like Bortkiewicz than Chopin, but just want to mention that they weren’t contemporaries. Chopin died almost 30 years before Bortkiewicz was born
@@jackcurley1591 You are so right. I knew that so don't know why I said contemporary.
@@smb123211 Well, they’re definitely contemporaneous in sound ;) the number of allusions/references to Chopin in Bortkiewicz’s music are too many to count!
@@jackcurley1591 Actually I think his biggest influence is Rachmaninoff, particularly the lyrical side.
Умница!!!!! Твоя игра заставила сердце биться быстрее!!!! Хотелось плакать от избытка чувств!!!
ЗДОРОВО!!!!!
Great piece. Ignore the critisims its beautiful and had its own merit
First two bars...old man playing the intro to fantasie impromptu while under the effects of morphine
What a beautiful piece! Thank you!
I didn't think much about this until it got to about 3:18. That's arguably the best part.
1:09 Neapolitan Sixth spotted.
PS: This is so Chopin. Chopin + Kundiman. I love it.
Beautiful ! Thank you for posting !
Překrásna skladba ❤️
Úžasný přednes a citový prozitek
klavirniho virtuosa. 🌹
A beautiful and heart-felt work. Probably will out last us all. Thanks for sharing.
One of my favourite channels, keep it up no matter what! Take a break if you need it, keep doing you, and it'll but just right.
This really is an amazing UA-cam channel. Salamat.
It sounds similar to “Prayer” by Mihail Glinka in parts. Lovely piece.Thank you.
Excelente interpretación Maestro !
Thank you for uploading. Great job. Congratulations. It´s important to share the work of unknown composers(or, at least, unknown to many of us).
Как красиво,нежно, профессионално Огромное спасибо
Great music, really glad you did the fan requests - thanks!!
This is uniquely beautiful. I play the piano always, this is a romántico piece, melancholic piece. Chopin dos his music, Noe, is Abelardo ahí has the chance to enjoy composing and playing it!! God bless You with your talent
Beautiful composition and great interpretation by the pianist Medel.
It's just magnifique ❤️🎹🙂
Magnificent Nocturne by a Filipino composer. Though with a bit of similarity to Chopin's Nocturnes but for me it is distinctly Filipino composed by a genius.
More similiarity to John Field that wrote his Nocturnes before Chopin
If this is influenced by chopin's nocturne, it's a masterful work of imitation. I would never have thought these were related in any way! This reminds more of some of Bortkiewic's works, like his Op. 15 No. 8. If it's imitating anything, he did a great job of creating meaning out of such and making it his own! Thanks for introducing me to this composer!
it doesnt even matter that one justifies this work as almost a copy since the same could be said about chopin's work based on john field's, abelardo's is a work of its own
Thx for this. Neat piece, well played.
Great performance! I encounter Lorenzo all the time in person when he attends concerts at the local conservatory he studies at.
Kalen1457 your piece is wonderful, congratulations for the great work!
Stay tuned my friend. I'm currently composing a piano concerto of epic proportions.
This is beautiful
We aren't sad about what you haven't given us, but happy with what you have :) Good shit man, thanks for everything
Bem romantico! Muito lindo!👏👏👏👏👏
This piece has absolutely brilliant harmony, I love it
The part in 3:17 reminds me of Rachmaninoff. In rachmaninoff’s music there’s a lot of dialogue, and I can definitely hear some dialogue in this section.
Very lovely and Chopinesque.
Glad you uploaded this. I enjoy the middle part of this piece very much. I get your comparison with it with Chopin's Op. 27 No. 1. Aside from that, I had thought that another possible influence on this piece would be none other than Liszt's Consolation No. 3 - which is, in a way, in the parallel Major key of this Abelardo piece.
Wow! This is so beautiful! Is like one of those "recently discovered, never before published" Chopin pieces. Amazing stuff.
Chopin wouldn't have written so harmonically simple piece, but i see your point 😂
Im glad this video is back!
è silenziosa tenerissima dolcissima che poi un tocco di musica un po forte rinasce di armonia molto bella profonda !!!
Merveilleux le nocturne!!!!
So that's what happened to the dozens of Kapustin videos from your and many others' channels.
Unfortunately the amazing score-video for Kapustin Violin Sonata, Op. 70 was one of the gems taken down by Schott Music because the person used screenshots of their digital version, and I think that account was terminated. George N. Giannopoulos, I think the name was. So sad that Kapustin scores are relatively rare, with music so enriched.
Thank you as always for your hard work to provide for our benefit. Really!
Really beautiful nocturne
Beautiful
I really can't wait what song on tv!
Очень красивая музыка
So nice.
Wonderful!
thank you so much for the effort, thenameisgsarci, I have so much respect for you. quite recently another channel, kuhlaudilfeng I think his name was, got hit really hard too. it was a shame because it opened up so many composers I have never heard of and love, much like your channel. As a pianist myself, I really have to thank you for giving me an entirely new repertoire and helping me expand as a performer. Take it easy for a while, we'll still be here to support you through the bullshit.
Браво очень красивая поэтическая музыка немного драматически насыщенная
You do a great job, I listen to music that I didn't know existed and then if I want to buy it to learn or whatever, I purchase the music or the mp3 etc. Take a well earned break and Know that you are appreciated.
If Chopin listened this piece, he would have loved this melody. So dramatical...
Bellissimo.
Very lovely piece! Glad I was able to listen to it, Also, I actually know the pianist from music school... He's a cool guy.
Delicious music 🎹🎶
This is divine! Thank you! 💔❤️
(No idea if you take fan requests at any time, so I apologize if I am asking in a wrong forum/at a wrong time) I am absolutely dying to see a Szell Piano Quintet in E scrolling score video. Hope it can happen!
Lovely piece
Great piece
The FABULOUS Lorenzo Medel ♥♥♥♥♥!
Que lindo compones Nicanor. Me hiciste llorar. L. López
This is a pretty nice piece, I felt Chopin in certain places but the music is very different (I can say that it was an inspiration).
It is pretty sad that big companies are removing videos on this platform :/
Himala! May nagmalasakit para kay Abelardo! SALAMAT!!!!! :D :D :D
The composer’s name is me trying to say “Nicado Avocado” while having a stroke
Sanki Kısa süren bir Hayatın özeti ....extraordinary
Woooow
とても良い曲ですね。ニカノール・アベラルドは、フィリピンで活躍した作曲家なのですね。はじめて知りました。
Precioso
Actually really good I should of heard of this guy
Bonjour est-ce possible d'avoir la partition en papier ou en format numérique s'il.vous plaît ??
Ao estilo Chopin!
Hey man,
I just want you to know that you’re doing a great job. Copyright issues are just awful. Another channel that posts mostly Slavic music was forced by some legal organization representing a big music company to take down many great videos. And for what? For trying to expose amazing music to other people through UA-cam? It’s just so disgusting; and when you think about it, it’s so petty, too!
And now with your strike, they’re taking down your videos as soon as you upload them? Monsters! As if most of the world even knows about these composers and their music anyway!! They don’t let people have anything!!!
But please don’t think that your fan request uploads came to nothing. Even though you couldn’t do everyone’s requests, there’s only so much one can do, and you did plenty of other awesome ones! Like Rheinberger’s Piano Trio No. 4, and Bortkiewicz’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Hristic’s Opello! I’ve never heard of these pieces before, and they’re amazing! I just hope that UA-cam or some other party doesn’t decide to have them removed…
Just know that we appreciate what you did. And, by the way, this is such a beautiful piece you uploaded, Abelardo’s Nocturne; so sad, and filled with melancholy.
Anyway, thanks again for this opportunity, and I wish you all the best!
Theodore Servin
Thank you mr. Garci for the Art and Culture you give to the World. Ciao from Roma
@Dario Cugia
First of all, it's GSarci. Second, thank you too very much.
Hard to believe that anyone interested in the Arts and the joy of music would go to the trouble of searching for obscure recordings on UA-cam and further, take legal action to prevent this music from being heard (for free). It's not as if there are huge crowds clamoring for this music. I understand the concerns when someone uses a recording protected by intellectual property rights (like van Cliburn, Gould, Horowitz, etc) in a YT video but that's not the case here.
You are a Great pianist ! Excellent interpretation besides you did put your feelings in this piece.
@@thenameisgsarci oh , don't worry my friend. In any case you are doing a great job. Thank you
Превосходно
Impromptu Fantasie in the 1st 2 bars
It's like he can't decide whether he wants to be Chopin, Liszt or Faure, so he settles for Field with some chromaticism, never leaving Chopin too far behind.
Memories from Fantaisie-Impromptu on the beginning :D
the beginning of the song looks like Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu
Hola como podria conseguir esta partitura?
Me recuerda a Chopin
Super
Hola! Qué número de ópera y número es? Me gusta para poder interpretar.
Hey man! Thank you! Such rarity ang mga pyesa ng mga Pilipinong kompositor. Kung meron ka pang mga katulad nito, please do upload. :)) thank you! Mabuhay!
Wow namiss ko talaga tong piyesang to. Gusto ko ulit aralin. Thanks!!!!!
А где можно скачать ноты?
This is a very sweet piece in the old style. Trying to outdo Chopin is always risky business.
To the people here who says this is just a copy and unoriginal blah blah, the nocturne form was created in the romantic period, the period of musicians where every musicians were free of creating such forms and composing and that even goes for copying trust me even if Liszt or Chopin knows their forms are like imitated or copied or used they would just be surprised or impressed (IF the piece is good), all that it matters is how much you use the form of a composer doesn't mean it's not original,it's just inspiration you know? As long as it doesn't sound EXACTLY like the composer's works like for example I just entirely copy pasted Chopin's nocturne op.9 no.2 and then I called it "original" because I only like added a note or a barrage of accidentals and changed the title, that's what you call unoriginal, so please appreciate this piece because even the greatest pianist alive wouldn't even care about you calling it unoriginal and he/she might even appreciate this piece but with a bit of criticism and suggestions.
아름답다.. 도입은 즉흥환상곡인줄.
Esencia de Chopin
Is the piano tuned differently from equal temperament? It seems out in places.
Una furtiiiiiiva lagrimaaaaaa
Jokes aside i love it
Found a better recording on Spotify, where the piece is played by Sally Pinkas. I think Medel plays too contemplative, playing piano where it says Forte etc. He makes it more Chopin than the piece is intended to be.
OK, Yeah, it's not Chopin.... but it has moments, and the ending is beautiful.
*A PERSONAL LETTER*
1) First of all, I really am sorry if I was unable to upload anything the past couple of days. To cut it short, I got a strike from Nikolai Kapustin's Andante Op. 58 and 24 Preludes Op. 53, and will last for three months. To make matters more annoying, the three videos that I was supposed to upload are automatically taken down right away. I was not surprised anymore, but I can't help from feeling the disappointment of wasting all your time and effort for nothing -- to the point that I almost decided to postpone the grand finale of the fan request tribute altogether.
This is not even requested, this is just an emergency video that I can upload at situations like this. I don't even know if this entire fan request tribute thing was a success, as a result of the mess that I got myself involved in, but if you really think I did a good job despite not being able to meet your expectations, thank you. I really appreciate that. While it would be a lie if I said I did not have any fun while doing this, I don't think I'm happy with this one. Sorry. I so hate myself.
2) I think I need to lighten myself up and just have fun the next time, do I? Might need to take a break, if I have to. For how long? I don't know. Fucking shit is so disappointing.
3) About the requests that I wasn't able to fulfill for the entirety of the tribute, once again, I really am sorry. I'm only a selfish man, a one-man band, after all, haha. I just don't want to pass on my baggage to others, but, if you really do want to help, fine, I'll take the offer. *For the people who make score videos like me, here's a list of all the requests that people have sent me that I didn't manage to do for various reasons -- consider this a giveaway:*
