  • We're finally ready to take our legendary 1958 Bounty 2 sailboat sailing across Lake Erie on her maiden shakedown voyage with us. We confront a typical Lake Erie storm system, and hunker down at the mouth of the lake to wait for our opportunity. The next day, Vashti makes an epic voyage in perfect close-hauled sailing conditions across to our destination. Tesla, our 6-year-old Australian Shepherd, and new expert sailor dog, passes away in the middle of a perfect day swimming at our anchorage at Fish Point, Pelee Island.

Just came across this video and couldn't watch it after the dock......I lost my little buddy suddenly two years ago and man was that tough. I cried for a week straight. They are your best friends.

Sorry about your dog. We're on the opposite side of the Lake in Port Colborne, let us know if you ever come this way. Are there many places to anchor around Pelee Island?

Wildly Intrepid Sailing thank you! There are just really the two anchorages in the semi-protected bays. One on the north end and one on the south end. The southern one is nicer and more secluded but is more exposed to the east and south

@@exodave Thanks for the tips. We might try to sail over to the other side next summer if we have time.

Wildly Intrepid Sailing (probably less confusing if I just reply from Vashti) yeah, our Canadian friends at the Cedar Island Yacht Club visit Pelee all Summer and they all mostly just moor at Scudder Marina which is fantastic, great folks and we love it there too. We like to radio or facebook msg Scudders a heads up that we might want to tuck in there in case of bad weather and they are always delightfully accommodating. It seems most of the popular spots and anchorages are on the American side but we love the quiet of Pelee. Put-in-Bay and Kelly’s Island are awesome but busy places. We like to visit there too. We’ll be posting more videos of those spots soon! Probably some with a new puppy aboard, we’re expecting some news about that soon too!
