    Thank you! Great tips I did not know! I've been needlepointing for a while, but I think I was doing it wrong when I started the second row. I learned from you, thanks!

    Thank you! Without knowing how to do it myself, I'm trying to help my 6-year-old learn to needlepoint with a kit. I could not for my life figure out how to start the second row, even with the kit's instructions and diagram! There's just no substitute for demonstration.

    Thank you. I like the knot idea easier to tie in on the underside. Easy to understand. I'm ready to start. Please post more on changing colours within the pattern, I have trouble understanding if I should stitch in a particular spot where there isn't much of the picture. Sorry to sound unclear, I'm struggling for words to describe.

      Hi Simon, did you find that you have to flip the canvas over with each new row? Can needlepoint be done without flipping the canvas? I'm new as well--I can embroider but needlepoint is a little confusing to me.

    • @simonleaf2765
      @simonleaf2765 3 роки тому

      @@473mishke Hi Mishka. I must admit I don't flip the canvas over - I just go in a backwards direction on the same side.

    My kits say to undo the threads 6 strings each) before I start knitting. I didn’t do that on my first kit, because I didn’t see a difference. What say you?

    Why do I have to turn the canvas upside down for the second row--is this necessary? It's a very confusing step. Can I just work on one side without flipping the canvas over with each row? Thanks!

    Never heard of leaving a knot in front of the canvas like that. I prefer to have the tail in the back and stitch over it to hold it. I also think your length of yarn is much too long. When it's that long it tends to get "woolly" because it's going in and out so often.

      Sara W what's the best canvas to use to make your own design and where can I buy it

    • @saraw3418
      @saraw3418 7 років тому

      You should be able to buy canvas at any needlework or craft store. I don't like the stiff plastic type of canvas. I like the canvas that is beige in color and softer.

    Continental stitch distorts the canvas. Basket weave or tent stitch are better stitches to use. If your canvas is distorted it is difficult to get straight again for finishing. Video not helpful.
