I was on the fence of buying and setting up a calcium reactor this time around on the reboot of my tank and after watching this you sold me man. I appreciate the content.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I bought a Carbon Doser and Kamoer and a Reef Octo Cr200 for my 120 so that I can add SPS and a few LPS instead of just fish. This is the only video that explains the setup of the Carbon Doser with a Kamoer for someone new to Calcium Reactors. Very much appreciated!
i want to say thank you after i see your 3 videos of calcium reactor i ready pull the trigger for my 43g tank.these is what i got AQUAMAXX T1 and is true all what you say not matter what size of the tank reactor is the number one for all the corals i spend over $600 for just sps and im doing 2 part dosing and they grow super slow.keep up you channel man we miss that
Thank you for this series rico.my wife got me a geo 6.24 reactor.i have been using your series to put together what i need. I appreciate the time and effort you take and put into helping us in the hobby!! Hopefully since we are both from ohio i will get the honor sometime to meet you and thank you in person. Once again thank you for all you do for the reefing community
Thanks Rico for these vids! I can say that after watching them I feel very confident not only that I can run a calcium reactor but I know I will run a reactor! Thanks man!
Just bought a calcium reactor from Bill Wann....waiting for it now made to order so for years made the move.... soo been researching for awhile now and this 3 part video is the best I’ve seen to date... thanks man 👍
This is one of your best videos that you have made. Being an old-school reefer like myself really like the way you get your point across to the beginner. Bravo🥂 by the way since you made this video. I've seen a huge increase in people using calcium reactors and making videos on them good job my man.
I’m am convinced. I am getting a calcium reactor. I have a 40 gallon with just a few corals. I get away with manually dosing but it’s getting old. Great video Rico
You have just inspired me to get one, never had one,but now I’m really considering to give it a try,the reason I never got one it’s because it seemed so intimidating.
Great video Rico i have 150 gallon reef sps dominant a little over a year old i dose brs 2 part so far, but my plan is to get a calcium reactor in the near future ,a geo is my plan and i really appreciate these videos thanks 👍👍👍
Using a CaRx nowadays is sooooo much easier! We used to have to do everything mainly just manually. A cheap Milwaukee co2 regulator and just counting the co2 bubbles by looking at it. And we feed the reactor with either a pump, or for me I just T off my return pump. And then just test alk 10 Times a day and adjust the effluent and co2 input accordingly to get the reactor to work good. With co2 regulators and ph controllers and peristaltic pumps, dialing in a Carx nowadays is soooo freaking simple!
Great video. You make a lot of good points many of which made me get a reactor after 19 years in the hobby. I have one other question about calibrating the probe. I just got an apex to help with the reactor. When you go in to calibrate the probe it automatically has it set to calibrate with solutions of 7 and 10. How do you do it for 4 and 7?
I dont care now, i am DEFO getting a calcium reactor.... If i want 1 of the best tanks around, am going 2 need 1 of these bad boys... Overtime here i come in work. Cheers rico u have convinced me into getting 1. 👊🏾🐠
Dont let the haters get you rambling and getting mad. Love your videos but the first 10 mins were sounding like that. I'm looking at getting a reactor to this really helped me a lot.
Hey Rico. Your ca reactor videos are sure helping. It made me get a GEOS as well. I am having g a small problem and maybe you can help me with it. The carbon bubble is entering same as yours but its getting drawn in and chopped up by recirculating pump. Now it has micro bubbles in the reactor and making noise every time it's pulling into intake of pump . What can I do to stop this?
Great info , I'll be getting a vertex reactor , and was already going to get the kamoar & carbon doser! I'm getting closer to the end of my tank build! My son thinks I'm crazy to get a reactor already when I have no corals or fish yet! Great info on dialing it in! Of course I'll need To get some animals to suck my alk & call down before I actually utilize it!
Great video Rico 👌You are definitely a passionate man when it comes to a calcium reactor. So you let the carbon doser and bubbles per second set the PH in the reactor and not a use a ph controller to turn the carbon doser on and off set the ph of the reactor?
Thanks for the video. I dose two part now. But I have been on the fence about calcium reactors. Price being the three hundred pound gorilla in the room. However if I want a nice show tank like yours I’m going to have to bite the bullet. Thanks for explaining it all so well.
Yeah for sure a calcium reactor is the way to go. I think one thing that you didn't touch on Rico is that some people are not so serious about the hobby, where they just want to set up a SW tank with a goldfish bowl type setup mentality. I'd say if people want to get into reefing, they need to understand it's a pretty much a long term commitment or don't bother and just go freshwater. I just mention this because it's the kind of thinking where people rationalize an excuse to themselves for not getting all the proper equipment to run a reef setup. Therefore they think they don't "really" need a calcium reactor. Then when they have problems with their systems, they are thinking to get out of the hobby. smh. Are you still running a little kalkwasser along with your reactor, even though you have your reactor fully set up now?
I appreciate all that you are doing around the calcium reactor and demystifying it for the average hobbiest. The one thing that you always say is if you can't test for it dont put it in your tank. This is one area where the trace elements that come out of a calcium reactor. I guess at the end of the day the numbers are so low it dosen't make as big of an impact. Ps when you said high end equipment in your video it went to a comercial for Radion lighting and I had to laugh.

When you go to calibration you should be able to change that.
Totally agree with you. Thanks for sharing. 😎👍
