What a credit these two genuine guys are to hunting.
Thank you and thanks for watching.
I want to see more grouse hunting!
I bought a glove for my right hand this year, I'm saving up for the other glove for next year. Was thinking about taking out a second mortgage on my house so I can buy a jacket
Hey Randy... I appreciate you and all of your videos! I'm getting geared up for elk hunting now and was wondering what sitka system and it's totality would you use, if you were elk hunting in Colorado during 2nd rifle season, which is the last 2weeks of October. Between 9-11,000 feet. Thank You ahead of time!
I would use base layers of Merino wool, then layer of a mid-weight Zip-T, then a Jetstream Jacket. Even a puffy coat in my pack for the really cold temps. For bottoms I wear Timberline Pants or the Mountain Pants with a layer of Merino wool bottoms. Works great for layering up/down to match the activity levels. Good luck.
You the man! Good luck to you kind sir!
I'm a new hunter and haven't invested in any of these brands (very
expensive...) yet so I'm curious about what other people have to say.
The brands I've looked at are Sitka, Badlands, First Lite, and Scentlok.
So far, I'm probably the most inclined toward First Lite and Badlands.
The main reason behind that is, as you said already mentioned the
warranty for Sitka is lacking. As a vet, I'm leaning more toward First
Lite than Badlands as well because they offer a military discount so I
can get a decent hunting set for a little cheaper with them than the
others. Badlands on the other hand... hate to say it... it looks better,
and it seems like the reviews are very favorable. The warranty is
pretty good too.
Anyone have any advice on whether First Lite or
Badlands would be the best option? I live in northern Montana so Elk,
white tail, black bear, and not getting eaten by grizzly bears is what
we do for fun.
do you wear the open country camo style?
I wear the Open Country Optifade.
Moisture pulls heat away from your body 25x faster than ambient air. That's the key component leading to hypothermia... being wet.
I was mostly interested in the underwear situation. Boxers or briefs? I can never decide
Sitka is the top of the line and the best equipment I use and have used for hunting and my every daily use, The bad thing with Sitka is the warranty because Bad Lands gear and equipment is the top of line to and some of the best equipment to but when you pay more for Sitka then Bad Lands equipment most of the time people who know about good warranty will go with Bad Lands just because of the warranty! If you want to improve your company as a hole, you really should work on your pricing and a better warranty! When I buy equipment and gear I look at the pricing and warrantys and Bad Lands has the best I try to go with the beat waranty but some times I have to go with Sitka just because it is a better quality item. Reshearch is key with two amazing companys I love SITKA but some times I have to use my Commonsense! Yes I have both and I love all my Sitka gear! Please work on your warranty because I do not mind paying for the best especially when it's Montana made! I wish I could have all SITKA BUT I don't because of your warranty you guys have an amazing product and I'm proud to recommend it and wear it thank you for all your guises hard work you all put in to providing me and other outdoorsman with great equipment! THANK YOU!
I think you may have misinterpreted this video, these men use the equipment.. likely they are sponsored by sitka.. they do not however have anything to do with the companies warranty. While you may get a "subjective" better warranty with badlands, there patterns are nothing special, where as the sitka optifade is a proven improvement over traditional camo design.
I like this type of hunting clothing because its comfortable, lets moisture out, packs nicely and weighs nothing. Our old hunting clothes would fill your pack and is too darn heavy.
Yup. I view it as an investment in my time afield.
