    Aside from physical differences, what can the RodeCaster Duo do that the Rode Connect Software can't? It seems like they both have similar software and voice effects, and if using multiple Rode Pod USB mics, I can just use multiple USB-C cables directly into my computer. Just looking to understand what differences these physical products offer that I can't do directly into the Rode Connect software for their price points. Super thankful for any insights from anyone!

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  10 місяців тому

      Hey there @PBH27, in short, the RØDECaster adds a few extra professional features like submixes, USB audio sources like smartphones and allows you to dial in more granular effects on your audio channels. That said, you're right, there are a lot of feature similarities between the two systems. The RØDECaster is aimed at creators that are looking for a standalone podcast interface which is portable, doesn't need a computer to function, has tactile buttons and faders, and can record backups externally.

  • @DJJordanLee
    @DJJordanLee Рік тому +1

    Does this interface have the channel for playing back sound directly from your computers applications?

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  Рік тому +1

      Yes it does! You can set the output of your computer or application as RØDECaster Duo and you can mix it just like a mic channel, while listening to it in your headphones.

    90% of the time, I have one guest and only need 2 microphones. But occasionally, I also have two guests and we need 3 microphones. Am I mistaken if I then simply connect a Podmic USB to the USB C port of the Rodecaster Pro Duo? That should work and sound approximately the same as the 2 previous Podmics, right?

  • @RobinChee
    @RobinChee Рік тому +2

    My planned settings - 2 wireless for 2 speakers go into the RCPD. 1 output to wireless mic to transmit to video camera. 1 output to go to Bose S1 battery powered speakers. RCPD powered by power bank. Backup audio recorded on RCPD. Notebook bluetooth link to RCPD for playing media. So all totally no dependency on a power power.

    Man, this is awesome! I am definitely picking up the Duo as this little unit will meet my needs better than the RCP2 when it comes to size and inputs i use which is literally 2 inputs and 4 sliders lol, this is PERFECT! I do have one question, though: will the Duo also get a clear plastic dust cover that i currently have on my RCP2? I livestream from my basement, which can get a little dusty at times even though i always put my stuff away in my cabinets. A dust cover is definitely important for me to have.

From this point, if you aren't able to resolve the issues, we'd suggest reaching out to our Service Team: rode.com/contact

    It would amazing if it could function as and audio output over network.

    @2:32 to be clear, it's a TRRS which does output, and input, correct? You only say "Output" here but then mention video calls @2:47 and that you can add this to a fader.
    The reason I ask is because the one feature I miss from the original Rodecaster Pro, that is not on my Rodecaster Pro 2, is the TRRS front 3.5mm jack where I was able to connect my iPhone via a Lightning to 3.5mm TRRS cable physically. Bluetooth connecting for taking phone calls is terrible. It randomly drops off or never connects properly to begin with. It's just Bluetooth foibles. I would rather 'hard wire' the iPhone to a TRRS jack!

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  Рік тому +1

      Hey Frank, thanks for asking to clarify! The example at 02:47 that was used was with a headset and a video call over computer (USB), this wasn't to imply that the TRRS jack will work as a phone input for calls (like the 3.5mm TRRS did on the RCP1). In short - you will still require Bluetooth or third party call apps over USB2 to have incoming phone calls.

      Hey @borosocsi, the answer is yes, you can. Just note that the USB2 port is MFi compatible, but USB1 isn't. That means that iPhones and iPads that use a Lightning cable are only compatible with USB2, not USB1. If you'd like to use two iOS devices that use lightning cables, you could plug into the USB2 port, and use one with the RØDECaster's bluetooth functionality.

    • @rodemic
      @rodemic  Рік тому

      Hey there! The short answer is, probably not. The long answer is that we haven't designed the USB2 port to work with USB headsets, and we haven't tested any. However, the USB port operates on the universal USB audio spec, so sometimes there are compatibilities we discover with this port which surprise us in this regard, considering that there are so many devices out there and they don't all function in the same way. Hope that answers your question!

      Hey there. The RØDECaster Duo is compatible with RØDE Wireless devices like the Wireless ME, Wireless GO II and Wireless PRO, in the sense that you can directly pair the transmitter to the unit without any cables. For other wireless devices, you'll have to connect them using a wire. The wire or connector you use will have to connect to the XLR input or the 1/4 inch ports on the back. For example, for some devices that output a mic level signal from a 3.5mm output, you can use a VXLR adaptor to plug it into the RØDECaster.

    Great. Though it's a pity it doesn't have 32-bit flow ADC. I don't understand why some companies keep releasing 24-bit flow products while 32-bit is much better and more useful. I wanted to buy a 4-person podcast bundle for a studio and thought it'd be all Rode, but I won't invest even a $1 in anything that uses 24-bit flow ADC. This is investment in equipment for years to come. So, buying an outdated tech when a new better one is already available isn't the best investment decision.
    After Rode released NT1 5Gen, I thought that Rode finally switched from 24-bit to modern 32-bit era, but all latest Rode releases took Rode back to the 24-bit stone age. Even Zoom already released 3 microphones with integrated 32-bit flow ADC and integrated audio-recorders in these mics. Rode should have forgotten that 24-bit flow even exists by this time.

    This is nice, but its appearent that you release different pieces step by step, but when I see the recent firmwares for the original RC2P, there is hardly anything "new". Considering all the talk back then, whats in the planing for the RC2P. As with more virtual channels etc. but nothing anymore. Now you relelease more and more different "versions" of that, just smaller, and take more attention to those than the original RC2P. Its sad to see how the previous main device is suffering from getting nothing new anymore. Definately my last RODE device i bought.

      @rodemic  Рік тому

      Hey there, we've pushed a number of recent updates for the RØDECaster Pro II that have unlocked major features like custom output routing and the ability to connect wireless microphones - make sure you have downloaded the latest firmware to ensure you have access to these new features! But the launch of the Duo definitely doesn't mean the end of updates for the RØDECaster Pro II - we will be continuing to develop and push updates across both consoles - in fact, because they run off the same system, they will share all updates moving forward, so stay tuned for these.

    • @OLDM4N-DE
      @OLDM4N-DE Рік тому +1

      @@rodemic True, but look through the last 5 Firmware Updates or so. The list of "bug fixes" far outweighs the number of "adding" Features. I remember the talk about more virtual channels for a long time, as it was supposedly come as well. Which was something people were really waiting for. Instead nothing of a sort happened. Since you releleased a number of "new" & smaller versions kinda similiar to the RC2P, even with focus more on your software for controlling those devices. Even there you can do more virtual channels. Yet for the RC2P nothing of the sorts is coming. You might wanna remember how much issues people had with this device over time, the many "broken" models with really annoying issues. How often people had to return it, bought a new one and yet again got a broken one. This thing people payed a loooot of money for, I am pretty sure they would appreciate some more attention for their hard earned money they spend on that thing. Not to mention that more and more other brands came out with similiar devices, and so far i havent heard so much bad about those. The RC2P was a great idea, but it lacked following through after the idea. Is that what you want people to remember ? Its a common practice in general. if you cant fix something, or make it better, simply make a new one or slightly different one. I hope thats not what RODE want to stand for as well. After all, you have quite a reputation for your microphones over the years.
