the war of the worlds original version was awesome, the new generation was spectacular, own audio CD's of both and DVD's of live shows. went to the live performance at the Brighton on 15th Dec 2014 an added bonus was lucky enough to see Jeff Wayne before the show outside i assumed his hotel and said good evening to him, so pleased he said good evening also. wanted to say to him what a big fan i was of WOTW but did not want to bother him on his downtime, was still a special moment for me & something i will never forget. that was the icing on the cake for me. the live show was brilliant, such a great performance by all, they truly seemed to enjoy performing as much as i enjoyed watching.
Before Spielberg's film premiered, I had a thought that Liam Neeson would be perfect for the role of the narrator had they done a proper film that takes place in the 1800s. Such a coincidence that Jeff Wayne felt the same way!
didn't mind the era Spielberg's movie was set in and enjoyed most of the movie, the only thing that spoiled it for me was the aliens arriving in lightening to occupy tripods that had supposedly been buried there for god knows how long undetected. if they had done that part in a more realistic way maybe with the original format the movie would have been so much better.
That would be nice, especially with Liam Neeson now playing the role of the Journalist. I just wish the original stage show had come to the US. Still don't understand why that never happened.
Probably thought it would conflict with stuff Hollywood or Broadway were doing. Or, maybe Jeff tried, but US companies wanted more than Jeff wanted to pay. It evidently wasn’t played, when Jeff first released it, which was major stupidity, considering how popular Billy Thorpe’s “Children of the Sun” was, around that same time!
Part of me is in agony, wishing Liam had played this role, from the beginning. Then, the other part has to speak up and remind me, that if he had, he wouldn’t have all the great films he’s done, in that time!
If they changed the location to, lets say New York, the song would need to be called Dead New York. I see where he is getting, but it would be neat to see how us Americans fared during the invasion.

Need to get a movie version. My dream cast. Narrator Morgan Freeman. The journalist Ramin Kamiloo ( hope thats how spelt). Artilleryman Matt Cardle. Pastor Nathaniel Alfie Boe...Beth Nicole Sherzinger( shes got a lovely voice. Im not a fan as such). Voice of humanity Roger Daltrey ( lol yes). Need a couple more songs to make it fresh would b amazing. Whos your dream cast for a WOTW movie musical ??
Since Spielberg already had Morgan Freeman as the narrator in his adaptation, they would probably shy away from that. Liam Neeson could still play the part in my view.

I got mine for January 2013!
Got tickets for December!
I hope they add US locations.

Pretty sure the poster you're replying to meant US locations for the tour.

I got the original story from radio show years ago
When will this come to Seattle?

Id guess terribly
I really hope Jeff Wayne never does that, since it would stray quite far from the original book.
