    This is by far the best review I’ve seen pertinent to this gauge. It’s coincidental and reassuring too, you and I use the same track pump... I’ve also just gone tubeless and have questioned the accuracy of my track pump since running lower pressures. Based on this review, I’ve just ordered my Topeak D2 which I got reduced in the January sales.... 30% reduction, down from £29.99 to £21.00 😊

      Thanks, Darcy. I'm glad you like it. I use mine very regularly. In fact, when I'm tubeless, out on the trails, I check my pressures before each ride. I hope you enjoy yours when it arrives.

    Hey man. Excellent video! This really helped me understand how to work this gauge far better than the instruction manual did. Thank you! You produced it very well, too. Love the music you added to it.

    Why do you have to mash that tune button to get it in "live reading" mode? Why add that extra step? Why not just have it change modes when you press the pressure release button ?

    For 32 bucks it should have a back light and be Incremented at better than whole numbers when in PSI Mode, it should at least be by .5 or even better .1. It's Digital so it should be more precise.

      Agreed! I have had a digital gauge from Schwable for 4 years now and that goes to .1 accuracy. I like that it has simple one button operation and is more slim than this Topeak unit. It doesn't have the air release button but it's so simple to quickly read, remove, let some air out then re-check. Makes a massive difference to the ride for sure!

    Thanks for the video! I ran into a problem using it on my first day. When I push it onto the valve, too much air escapes from the tire. Seems tricky getting the device correctly on the valve to get a reading; too much air escapes. Can you please tell me how to do it better or what I did wrong?

    • @MeantforDescent
      @MeantforDescent  3 роки тому

      Hi Steve. Sorry for the late reply. Have you checked that the selector is in the right position? I had mine set for schrader valves by mistake once and it let a lot of air out.

    • @sw7565
      @sw7565 2 роки тому

      I currently got a faulty one as well. the valve switch seems to stick and even when selected presta valve, the brass fitting doesn't always depress. I would push it down with a pencil and it'll get stuck 1x out of 4. Which will result in letting the air out of the tire instead of taking a measurement. I've submitted my compliant to the company and we'll see what's the next step.

    • @MeantforDescent
      @MeantforDescent  2 роки тому

      Have you tried using it with different tubes, just to rule that out?

    • @sw-se8vr
      @sw-se8vr 2 роки тому

      It’s the device that’s bad. I’ve tried it on 4 tires and it ends up letting air out of the tires instead of measuring it.
      Problem comes down to the valve selector on the d2. When you switch it to presta valve, it suppose to let the brass fitting depress, while when you switch it to schrader the brass fitting should hold in place and not depress. Well mine sticks and even on the presta valve selection, it will keep the brass fitting in place and not allow it to depress some of the time, hence results in letting the air out of the presta valve.

    • @sw-se8vr
      @sw-se8vr 2 роки тому

      The company didn’t do anything when I wrote to them, they claimed they didn’t have any in stock and referred me back to amazon to do my exchange. So be warned that warranty issues might be cumbersome with this company. However my replacement from Amazon with no thanks to the company was a success! The brass pin depresses 100% of the time now when set to presta valve. Now I can measure my tires without having the chance of the brass pin NOT depressing and let the air out of my tires! So it was a defective gage.

    I found this gauge let out too much air at ~110psi (when attaching), not so bad at 30psi. So not so good for road bikes.

    • @MeantforDescent
      @MeantforDescent  3 роки тому

      I use it on my Specialized Allez, too, and haven't had any issues, but I tend to over inflate a little to counter air loss.

    I think you need to read about tire pressure rolling resistance and hysteresis. I dont think the info you've provided is correct for MTB unless you're only riding on smooth surfaces.

    • @MeantforDescent
      @MeantforDescent  2 роки тому

      Interesting. Perhaps you could elaborate, so anyone else reading can get the right info?

      @@MeantforDescent to simplify.. a soft tire will absorb and conform to the shape of a small rock allowing to roll over versus a hard tire where it will push or bounce back.

    Just bought this guage and it doesn't give an accurate reading for presta valve. Tested it on a car tire and it works for schrader. Looks like I'll be getting a refund as it is pretty much useless
