imagine a Jedi Academy reboot in 2024 like this: 1. A more stylish HUD, with vertical and horizontal bars. 2. Being able to cling to wall edges. 3. New equipment such as Force-imbued armor and a grappling hook. 4. Manual blocking of both ranged and melee attacks. 5. Dash and a more controllable super speed. 6. A passive Force sense in the form of a minimap. 7. Being able to deflect blaster shots only if you press the block at just the right moment. 8. Greater ability to confront non-Force user shooters even if they carry heavy weapons. 9. Stealth in the form of stealth-oriented Force powers and a lightsaber that emits no light or sound when active. Recommended when greatly outnumbered, but useless against Force user enemies. 10. @@kevthepoet thats my issue with all of these fan servers and anything "unofficial". not just for this game, but al of them really. it generally only consists of extreme tryhards who have been mastering the game for over a decade and you just get bodied.
@@thanksgivingh6185yeah as much as people say the community is great, it’s honestly terrible. You have to kiss a lot of ass to get anywhere and most of the top people cheat just because they’re so bored and looking for any way to get ahead or get an edge at this point. So many people don’t even play the game anymore and instead just Admin on the servers for that extra sense of control and “relevance”. There are even rules in place that are meant to PREVENT you from fighting as much as possible, to the point where you’re not even allowed to kill people that don’t give you permission; they can turn their lightsaber off and if you hit them or mess with them in any way they will BAN YOU. So you end up with a lot of people just standing around chatting or dueling, and unfortunately chatting is much more common.. it’s kind of like a retirement home at this point. So many people unironically call it a “chatroom with lightsabers” which says too much about where their priorities are. They do a lot to resist getting with the times (on purpose) by actually encouraging “socializing” on the game itself instead of an actual social program, such as discord. Plenty of people actively avoid it to the point where people that have been active and playing for decades and are in “leadership” positions have at times never been actually heard once. The older players will help you to a degree but they’ll also specifically put systems in place to make it take forever or they’ll literally withhold information from you depending on who you are, or simply because they don’t want you to become a “threat”. In other words, actual competition and fairness went out the window a long time ago.
This video took me back man. I can’t explain the impact KOTOR, Jedi Academy and Star Wars Galaxies had on me all around the same time like 7-8th grade time frame. It made me such a Star Wars addict. It really saddens me to think about what potential could have followed after some of these games all the way from like 20 years ago . I wish we could have got that lightning in a bottle again like some of these games. It’s like Im reminiscing over a first girlfriend or something for these games 😂
I still have the disks and boxes (and manuals too I think) for KOTOR 1 and 2, Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Academy. one of my favorite mods was a Hockey Stick Lightsaber. It would knock opponents across the room, and the AI Bots would then walk off ledges.
The bespin gas platform is one of my favorite levels. The worst was the sand worm as a kid it was terrifying. I still play this game every couple years.
One of the best Star Wars games of all time for sure. Some levels feel too short but that makes it good for replayability and doing things differently if possible. When you have the different fighting styles it was easy to slip through a dark force users attack by changing yours. Recently played through w/ mostly dark side choices but played all light side and ended fairly balanced. Too much fun to just use grip and then lightsaber throw to take them out.
To this day... this game, flaws and all, is a pinnacle of the Star Wars experience that I desired sooo badly as a kid. I'd read Jedi Academy and New Jedi Order books and wanted so badly for a game where you were learning new Force powers and being trained as a Jedi in Luke's academy. When KotOR came out, I used to replay the Dantooine section in the Jedi Enclave over and over again for the same reason. And when this game came out, I was blown away. I still replay this game at least once every couple years.
There not a year thats gone by since 2004 that I havent played through this game. Has been and unless they make something damn near identical. Will always be my favorite star wars game

I only ever played the original Dark Forces and Jedi Knight. Used to love those games, but I always wondered about the sequels
Jedi Knight 1 has the better story but the combat improves in the other 2
They’re really, really good! I prefer Jedi Outcast as it is a more direct sequel to the Dark Forces games and Academy is a little more disconnected. Both good, though!!
This game, jedi starfighter and kotor hit all my starwars needs as a kid, soo many amazing old games
It's the multiplayer that was legendary. I still remember LAN parties with this game and later when better internet came, online multiplayer.
Tried to play Jedi Academy multiplayer on pc recently but there are no vanilla servers with no mods, the only way to play is in heavily modded servers with experts who never stopped playing and call you a noob.
This series was the best ever light saber fighting. 20 years later and I haven't played a star wars game that was as fun in multiplayer.
jedi academy and max payne 1 was my childhood fantastic video as always it still amazes me that we can still play these games in 2024
Huge part of growing up was this game. Whenever I got stuck on Jedi Outcast, I came straight back to this one.
Same
Was hoping to see Movie Battles 2 mentioned and was not disappointed. Nice!
I'm from Jamaica I always love watching your contents bro. you inspired me.
A small correction: the previous game Jedi Outcast also had the ability to chop off limbs and heads, mechanically Academy is pretty much identical
Best examples of force powers
Yeah Raven are definitely on some niche GOAT status.
Highly recommend the Movie Duels 2 mod, adds nearly every character from every movie and series and maps and single player campaign for all movies, plus much upgraded saber combat and a really nice graphic update for both Outcast and Academy.
oh damn Jedi Academy.. The game that still has some of the best saber combat still to this day
Nice to know the concept of _"the big TV"_ is just as relevant on that side of the pond as this 😂
BUT - do you call the main room light _"the big light"???_
Best lightsaber combat ever
You can up the dismemberment on pc so u can literally chop enemies into kibble
Love that saturday story. lol
I feel like this game has aged beautifully and I didn't expect it to but I enjoyed my last playthrough just as much as I did 20 years ago.
My favourite game of all time. I've probably beaten it around 60 times. It makes you feel really powerful and gives you a lot of freedom. Great game ❤
The multiplayer in Academy was so fun! Met some cool people as a kid just playing in dueling lobbies. Sad you never experienced that.
Tried to play Jedi Academy multiplayer on pc recently but there are no vanilla servers with no mods, the only way to play is in heavily modded servers with experts who never stopped playing and call you a noob.
Outcast and Academy are loaded on my computer to this day and I'll fire it up whenever the mood hits me. Along with games like Max Payne, Freespace and Vice City.
This game still holds up. Exceeds expectations lol
Jedi Academy is PEAK
I love that you can jump on to almost any surface!!!
I absolutely love this game. It's one of my all-time favorites.
I got over 140+ hours in Movie Battles 2 and I can only say, BUY the game and TRY it and you will NOT regret it at all. Game with the mod is absolutely fun
This was one of my favourite games of all time and I played all the previous games was a hell of a build up and crescendo btw there's a hell of a pc moving community for it
Jedi Academy still holds up on back-compat on XSX. A full remake by Raven/ABK/XBox could pick up the fumble by EA with Jedi Survivor, as there's a market for such a game, seeing as EA tried 2 singleplayer games in a row, & that's not EA's style.
This needs to be remade for sure
Jedi Academy was amazing. It was one of the few games I was really good in multiplayer-wise. Must've spent hundreds of hours online on the original Xbox back then.
Tried to play Jedi Academy multiplayer on pc recently but there are no vanilla servers with no mods, the only way to play is in heavily modded servers with experts who never stopped playing and call you a noob.
I highly recomend you to check out Movie Battles II - a modification to Jedi Academy with a still active playerbase and development team, me being part of both.
I had this and jedi outcast on the original xbox back in the day and they were pretty on the original xbox using a controller felt to me at the time felt great
This game is on steam and if you’re wondering there’s a mod for multiplayer that makes it almost movie like
Jedi academy was the game for me in college. we would get crazy skins and stuff. I had keyblades, it was great.
I still play Jedi academy to this day with the ultimate weapons mod
Bro had a cool sounding dad. My dad bought a Xbox original when I was younger and told me if I touched it I would get in alot of trouble. Still played it when he was at work too lolol
Gamestop is the reason I got demons souls but I got it for FREE when it wasnt even 12 months old yet since it was used, gave them some games from a Wii my grandma sold on me and 20 bucks got a new copy of call of duty black ops so i could play with my friends man that was a really good day
Raven also did the Solider of Fortune Games. I loved those games.
Man I remember back in the day when Gamestop and other game stores used to be so cool about trading games
I used the same 20-30 bucks an exploited their used game policy. 7 days and you get full refund. I would just run through used games and trade it for a new one. It was like never ending game rental
damn, man. you talking about "the big TV" hit me with nostalgia.
I grew up on Academy, but Outcast is my favorite.
Jedi outcast and Academy defined my childhood gaming experience.
A friendly tip: Jedi Academy is an old game - it's better played with OpenJK mod ;-)
Their goals:
* Improve the stability of the engine by fixing bugs and improving performance.
* Support more hardware (x86_64, Arm, Apple Silicon) and software platforms (Linux, macOS)
* Provide a clean base from which new code modifications can be made.
I met the guy who actually was the one who designed the lightsaber combat for Jedi outcast and academy
I was literally telling my friend at work about how good it was and he comes and is like “yeah I agree it’s a good game but I’ll admit I’m biased since I helped make it!”
100% on your GameStop comments. I loved GameStop as a child bc I could get games without spending a ton of money
Secret weapons over normandy is a great ww2 flight game definitely worth checking out.
got jedi outcast on the cube and jedi academy on the box, first played on the amd athlon 1ghz, 1gb of ram Nvidia gforce2, ran jedi outcast like butter academy had the purple glitches and other issues so didn't play it till later guess my gpu didn't have the right shit for academy back then.
Will always keep my release day copies of outcast and academy, still so much unmatched saber fun.

I've been saying this for years now. Bring the remake on and have Raven be involved, some how.
