UFO are an amazing band,Michael Schenker is a guitar legend . Started his career with his brother Rudolf Schenker of the band Scorpions at age 11 and left the band at 16 to join UFO. Michael was a huge influence on Metal guitarist from all eras . UFO and the Scorpions were outstanding bands live and in person 🤘🤘
First band I saw live back in 77. I've been a massive fan ever since. So underrated. That's down to critics, another totally underrated band from the same era is a band called Magnum. Definitely worth investigating sooooooo many great songs and albums.
My favorite guitar player Michael Shenker!!! Joined the band 1973 (?) When UFO was at a gig with The Scorpions and their original guitar player couldn't make it so they borrowed Michael who was with The Scorpions and spoke only German at the time and he stayed for 6 albums and later a reunion for WALK ON WATER!! HIGH FLYER from Force It is another you would LOVE TO LOVE 💕 My favorite episode ❤️ Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🤟🏼🎸
I’m old but I was 17 in 1977 and loved UFO as well!!! I’ve seen them live in concert 3x back in the 70’s and the live performances were the best!!!❤❤❤ More UFO please. Maybe Doctor Doctor 1986 Live???? So says Austin Texas!!!! 😎🍸 Oh and Happy New Years!!! 🥳🥳🥳
UFO were one of my favourite rock groups in the 80s. Love Belladonna from the Schenker year and so many from the Chapman years like Mystery Train and so many more.
great job on the review of this song. I am glad you did the studio version. The good old 1970's where they take their time crafting a song with so many layers, slowly building in intensity. Their song Rock Bottom is a real gem also
Thank you so much for reacting to this! This has been one of my favorite songs ever since it was released. Michael Schenker is one of the best guitarists for sure. His solo ending this song is EPIC!
Saw them at Day on the Green in 1979 summer after senior year. Nazareth, J. Geils Band and Thin Lizzy were also on the bill. Journey was the headliner. Awesome show.
All tracks on the live Strangers in the Night album are better versions than their studio album counterparts. The mixing and sound is superb, and Michael was so on point and had perfected all of his solos by then. Truly amazing tracks like Rock Bottom, Lights Out, Mother Mary, This Kids, Shoot Shoot, etc…
Thank you for this one! Lots of good memories. Going on dates with my girlfriend ( now my wife😉) in the mid and late 70’s. Popping this UFO 8 track tape into my car stereo. 👍There is a great studio version UFO did in 2005 of this song that is really cool! You should check that out! Thanks for the great reactions!
It's absolutely crazy that Michael Schenker was only 21 when this was recorded and even more crazy that it was already his 7th album! People can argue the GOAT all they want but he's on top for me.
Lights Out by UFO has no bad songs. Saw them in 76 w ACDC and Cheap Trick for 8 bucks. Never again to be experienced. They were 3rd billing. Was Let There Be Rock tour from ACDC and Cheap Trick's 1st lp. 8 dollars and 30 Miller ponies and lots of brown frown.
You Andrei are right!!! The band UFO and several hundreds of bands were overlooked because the Competition was FIERCE in the 70's....and I am one of those millions upon millions of music fans that overlooked bands like this to bands like Kansas. YES. Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin. Black Sabbath. Steppenwolf. Queen. Boston. Foreigner. Just sooooo much superb music that there would be bands like this that just would not get an ear to.
Underrated but very influential on many hard-rock and metal bands. Iron Maiden open their shows always with an UFO song: Doctor, Doctor. You must listen to Rock Bottom as well. Michael Schenker is an amazing guitarist. On his time, he was paired with Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhoads.
In this song, "Love To Love," UFO sounds like Rush ft. Robert Plant. I can hear Rush or Led Zeppelin doing a cover with this song. Absolutely gorgeous!!!
Most of the 80’s “Hairband” guitarists were inspired to pick up a guitar and learn because of Michael Schenker. Michael was a founding member and the original lead guitarist for Scorpions. He left to play for UFO.
Michael Schenker is the lead guitarist on this band and in my opinion he is the third greatest guitarist ever, behind Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. The next song you should do is Rock Bottom. The live version from the double live album called "Strangers In The Night"
I really hate the use of the word underrated nowadays, but it definitely goes with UFO. I played the grooves off the lights out album, Michael Schenker was one of my guitar heroes,
When I saw you were doing this one I knew you would enjoy it. It is hard to listen to this song and think that the band was underrated. This one song demonstrates their ability to play a wide range of music. I wore this album (Lights Out) out as a teenager and still have it today. You'd be hard pressed to find a song on this album that you would consider anything other than top notch. While I can't explain the "underrated" characterization, I can tell you that most of the hard rock bands that followed UFO have stated publicly that they were a big influence on them. If you want to try a song from this album that is similar to Love to Love, listen to "Try Me." If you want to listen to something from this album that had more of a radio friendly classic rock sound, then listen to "Too Hot to Handle" or "Lights Out." Take care...
UFO, Nazareth, Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, Starz, were just some of the very good bands who had some degree of popularity yet did not achieve the kind of success the heavy hitters of the 70s had. Teenagers and young adults only had so much money so one had to be choosey as to which bands those dollars were going to go to. The 1970s was the age of giants. The likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Jethro Tull, Yes, E.L.P., KISS, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Boston, Foreigner, Van Halen, etc., loomed large in those days.
PART II 😁 HAAA so you know that the guitar player is German!! Funny thing,, to me some of is solo phrasing does sound German to me the way he bluntly ends his scales!! ☯️☮️🎸
SUGGESTION: ALIZEE - MOI LOLITA - LIVE(HQ) 141 mln views/15 years ago. ALIZEE is a French singer who scored a number 1-hit in her home country in 2000 at the age of 16 with Moi-Lolita. And was also picked up by other European countries. In total, 4 million albums (called GOURMANDISES) were sold worldwide. It is a delicious earworm of a beautiful singer in a naughty outfit.
Saw UFO on San Jose in 1979, opening for Van Halen at a VH tour-warm-up concert for the VH2 tour. UFO was ridiculously better talented than VH. UFO singer vs David Lee Roth, UFO win. Michael Schenker vs EddieVH, UFO win. VH was embarrassingly amaruer next to UFO on that stage at least.
They had a live album out in 1979 called Strangers in the Night. It’s a stone cold classic. Love to Love is on the album.
UFO are an amazing band,Michael Schenker is a guitar legend . Started his career with his brother Rudolf Schenker of the band Scorpions at age 11 and left the band at 16 to join UFO. Love UFO. One of my fave bands from late 70s to early 80s
I have been a fan of UFO since the mid 70s
I seen them in 79 at the Tower Theater in Philly. The opening band was AC/DC with Bon Scott.

Plenty of great tracks to discover from UFO. Excellent Band. Rock Bottom, Let it Roll, Shoot Shoot and Only you Can Rock Me
An amazing song.

UFO were one of my favourite rock groups in the 80s. Love Belladonna from the Schenker year and so many from the Chapman years like Mystery Train and so many more.
As others have mentioned, you should listen to tracks from their live album. An absolute masterclass in guitar playing throughout.
great job on the review of this song. I am glad you did the studio version. The good old 1970's where they take their time crafting a song with so many layers, slowly building in intensity. Their song Rock Bottom is a real gem also
I saw them perform this live in ‘77 at age 14. Yes, I was a huge fan.
Thank you so much for reacting to this! This has been one of my favorite songs ever since it was released. Michael Schenker is one of the best guitarists for sure. His solo ending this song is EPIC!
always good to listen to the studio version first, but the live version on "strangers in the night" is 100 times better.
Saw them at Day on the Green in 1979 summer after senior year. Nazareth, J. Geils Band and Thin Lizzy were also on the bill. Journey was the headliner. Awesome show.
they may have been a little underrated, but they were very well known in my area of the Midwest we loved em and still do!
I'm 65 and UFO is a great band and most worthy of going down the rabbit hole.❤
I've got this album and there first album, all the best in the new year😎
Check out Lights Out and Natural Thing from Strangers In The Night Live
All tracks on the live Strangers in the Night album are better versions than their studio album counterparts. The mixing and sound is superb, and Michael was so on point and had perfected all of his solos by then. Truly amazing tracks like Rock Bottom, Lights Out, Mother Mary, This Kids, Shoot Shoot, etc…
You nailed it, competition was fierce so many great bands that never really made it to superstardom, This song gives me chills every time I hear it
I remember this band ❤

One of my all time favorite bands!
This is a love song that is not dedicated to a woman but instead the lights of the stage. Misty green and blue
This is my first time listening to them too, and I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s.
It's absolutely crazy that Michael Schenker was only 21 when this was recorded and even more crazy that it was already his 7th album! People can argue the GOAT all they want but he's on top for me.

Oh wow haven’t heard this in ages, glad to hear it again. I forgot how good it was 😊 I’m going to have to go back and listen to some of my old albums.
Yes!!! Lights Out next. Try Me, if you want a ballad by them
You Andrei are right!!! My first real concert with a date! Cheap Trick were the unknown openers. This is my favorite by song by them

pd.- Axl Rose this 2024 recorded a AWESOME versión from this...! Axl finally learned to sing!!
Michael Schenker on guitar! BEST GERMAN GUITAR EVER....
Try the much later studio version.....banging!

I LOVE UFO LOL!!!!
Check out a more recent recorded studio version of this song featuring Jason Bonham on drums. The son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham
Wrong
PART II 😁 HAAA so you know that the guitar player is German!! Funny thing,, to me some of is solo phrasing does sound German to me the way he bluntly ends his scales!! ☯️☮️🎸
One of my all-time favorite bands. Strangers In The Night is arguably the best live album ever produced.
😅
MOTHER MARY,, THIS KIDS,, and awesome guitar solo on ROCK BOTTOM! ☮️
@@davebjorkman8169 I certainly don't need your validation.
Anyone who knows rock music knows it's one of the best live rock albums.
It definitely didn't help with Michael Schenker left the group.
Try the new version from Michael Schenker with Axl Rose on vocal. Much better
Don't be silly. Axl is reverse Midas touch. A pox.
The original is much better.
PS I went to grade school w Axl Rose. I’m 3 years older.

Please check out Salsa Na Ma if you want to be put in a good mood. Pure joy. You wont regret it.
