I've followed The Rumjacks since An Irish Pub Song.. With Frankie they grew so much, and their epitome was Saints Preserve Us for me.. The thing they have done with Mike is absolutely EPIC! After he has joined the band, their music has changed, but it has been for the good.
I have never heard of this band until tonight. I saw them live in Pensacola Florida. They played with dropkick Murphys. What an incredible show. These guys kicked ass.
In the city of the elms where we smoked in the stalls In our rogue adolescence we tore up the halls She caught my eye across the room, with a wink and a tip of the hood We waited for the moment then we shot to the woods She smoked a makeshift pipe and carved her name in a stone In the wall of an abandoned old colonial home The remnants of her living days are names in a wall They'll be gone with the ashes when they crumble and fall Gone with the ashes when they crumble and fall And I can't remember the rhythm they played And I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played I can't remember the rhythm of her name The doors were always knockin' like a train come alive Their names, I couldn't say, but their faces survived We drank the beers and sung the cheers and wore our voices out We polished off the bottle that she stole from the house And like a group of vagrants round a fire alite Contented drunk and careless like a teenage night I still remember the room in which she pulled me away And now I'm callin' out her name in a moment of gray I'm callin' out her name in a moment of grey And I can't remember the rhythm they played And I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played I can't remember the rhythm of her name You could count the years in ashes, you could count 'em in stone You'll never stop the time with all the watches you own The stillness in her casket with the ghost of a smile Was frozen for a moment if not only a while Frozen for a moment if not only a while And I can't remember the rhythm they played And I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played And I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played And I can't remember the rhythm of her name And I can't remember the rhythm they played I can't remember the rhythm of her name Is callin' out from a carving in a stone I swear I'll carve it deeper when I make my way home
I've always liked The rumjacks since they released their first music video but I must say the quality really has improved over the year, especially with this new singer. Keep up the good work guys, you're awesome ! Much love from Canada !
This goes out to you, Ruby. I miss you every day, I just have a few things left to do so you be proud when I see you again, until then, keep my seat on Orion's belt warm for me
Really loving the new stuff, this one in particular! One of the most versatile bands I've heard in years...it's great to see a band grow and sound a bit different, while still fitting in perfectly with older songs.
J'ai découvert The Rumjacks quand ils ont fait la premiere partie des Dropkick Muprhys à Nantes et depuis ce jour la j'en suis accro. Love Rumjacks. Come to Nantes please❤️
The Rumjacks, music aside, has some really awesome lyrics. What a fantastic song and for some reason it just resonates with me as if they pulled a memory from my mind.
I have no idea why it doesn't have millions of views. I guess rock is now considered as underground music. Rap videos get hundreds of millions of views while rock bands often struggle to have a million.
Is that Adam singing in this? Cause it sounds very different from the rest of the songs since Mike came on. Either way it was nice to hear a song that put the focus on a single singer again. While I do still like the new stuff the switch to having the full band singing does stand in contrast to the old days where everything was set around Frankie. Love you guys, look forward to seeing more from you all, and getting more accustomed to Mike's voice in the lead.
@@therumjacks nice, while I enjoy the group songs, the ones that focus on a single singer with clear vocals always speak to me differently. My hats off to Mike, then a lot more range in that voice then i gave em credit for.
Is "City of the elms" New Haven CT? If so what's the connection between you and the City? Also i love the part "Their names, I couldn't say, but their faces survived" it reminds me of this "i still see the faces the names tho escaped me" it's overall a nice song
Last night we were sitting around listening to Pogue Mahone and Waiting for Herb... two of the best pogues albums. Yes, different from the early days, but holy shit are those albums GOOD.
