Iowa is a great state with absolutely horrible weather. I’ve been living in Des Moines for the past few years. Iowans are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Salt of the Earth. I became a Christian in Iowa, and will always be thankful for that.
Wow, that's amazing to hear. ❤ Thank you for sharing! Iowans are so authentically kind and it sounds like you've experienced some of the kindest folks out there.
I'm watching this in October of '24. I'm fighting a rough case of TRB, The RAGBRAI Blues. This is such a fantastic experience, can't wait for next summer!
A very well shot and edited video of my favorite summer activity! I loved all the slow motion b-roll of the towns and the shots from out in the cornfield a little. I have never seen myself in anyone else's RAGBRAI video, even after 12 years of going, but i saw my name in your video TWICE on the places you were writing your names (Elliott and Griswold). After that accident scene, i was just at the top of the hill when the ambulance went by..... maybe 30 seconds ahead of where you were. So glad you enjoyed my home state!
Thanks so much! We must have ridden so close to each other the whole time. 😂 Hopefully you'll spot your self in the second video from RAGBRAI. It was such a fun experience, Iowa was incredibly welcoming and we absolutely loved everything about it!
RIP Mr Porkchop. Glad to see family/friends are still carrying on the tradition of being at RAGBRAI. The pie to try in Iowa is rhubarb or strawberry-rhubarb. And yes, Iowa is not flat. 😂 Glad you had a great time on RAGBRAI.
It actually is easy to donate on a mobile device as well! Leukemi/Lymphoma is close to our hearts, and we're so happy to participate. But next time we want to come along for the ride!
My sister passed from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma almost 30 years ago. Thank you for the fundraiser and also for visiting our great state. Black Tire is from my hometown.
I'm so sorry to hear your sisters passed from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Cancer is a nasty disease and I know it must have been so hard to watch her go through it.❤ Happy we could use our channel for even a small part to fundraise for the cause.
Glad you enjoyed RAGBRI. Always a crazy week in Iowa especially with weather. You lucked out and it was not 95 degrees. Stop back again for some Iowa Nice!
I can't believe the wonderful weather we had!! It felt like perfect! We had been training in 95+ and humid in Tennessee and that cool wave we timed in RAGBRAI was a dream come true. 😂
Ragbrai is on my bucket list. Taking that much time being unavailable is not possible for me right now, but looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey.
I really enjoyed this. Very well done. I was a volunteer this year in the town of Macksburg which will be in your next vlog I am assuming. Macksburg is another very small town and our population is right at about 100 people.
i saw myself in this video so many times! my cousin and i recognized you guys but were too scared to say hi. i’m a iowa native and was laughing at the walking tacos 😂 so glad you liked ragbrai
No way!! I wish y'all had said hi!! It would have been fun to bike together for a while. We'll definitely be back for RAGBRAI one day soon, hopefully as early as next year. :) Iowa and RAGBRAI as a whole were wonderful and we can't wait to be back!
That was a horrible wreck (16:50). The cyclist was pretty messed up, (broken jaw, arm, etc). My teammate on the Air Force Cycling Team was holding her head. Good thing she is also a Nurse Practitioner.
Oh gosh! I had no idea that was the outcome. That's so scary! That you to you and the rest of the Air Force Cycling Team for helping keep the roads safe out there. ❤
Thank you ❤ Unfortunately the day we rode through Fairfield was the one day we didn't ride (we'll explain more in the second video). It looked like a lovely town though!
Um, yeah, the hills. If you did not know. This was the Hilliest route RAGBRAI has ever taken. And when I found out the route, I decided I had better things to do. I have family in Red Oak and Villisca Iowa. So I new first had about the hills. I am hoping to do it next year. Oh, and I did RAGBRAI back in 2012.

I found my father in Iowa. As well.
Wow, that's amazing to hear. ❤ Thank you for sharing! Iowans are so authentically kind and it sounds like you've experienced some of the kindest folks out there.
Thanks for the footage. First ragbrai after a solid 9 years living on my bike. It was so amazing to chill with yall.
RAGBRAI is such a unique experience!! We'll be back next year and hope to see you there!
RAGBRAI was blessed with good weather this year! The pie, pork chops, and people were -- as usual -- the BEST.
We really were! I can't believe how cool the temps were and how few times it rained! 😅
Great video capturing the spirit of Ragbrai
18:00 I AM THE SPIRIT OF RAGBRAI!
Thanks, Andy! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! :)
Love how happy you are talking about this. My face hurts from smiling through this whole video. It's great to see friends doing things they love!
Thanks, Joe! It was SO much fun so I'm glad it shows in the video. Hope y'all are well! We miss y'all!

We can’t wait to do it again!

One of the better (best?) RAGBRAI videos. Excellent musical selection!
Wow, thank you so much!! That means a lot!
YES Kara and Nate (youtubers from Nashville) did this a couple of years ago. SUPER COOL Go Chris and Sara!
We had such a blast!
Thanks for fundraising. My buddy has just been diagnosed with NHL. RAGBRAI looks amazing, it's on our bucket list.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's diagnoses. I hope he's able to find a community of fellow NHL fighters to connect with.❤
RIP Mr Porkchop. Glad to see family/friends are still carrying on the tradition of being at RAGBRAI.

And yes, Iowa is not flat. 😂
Glad you had a great time on RAGBRAI.
His family and friends were carrying on his legacy well! They were there everyday serving us hungry cyclists with a smile. :)
"We've only biked nine miles but we're already on our second breakfast... look at the butter!" Doing it right!! 🥰🥰
For being first timers I think we caught on pretty quickly :)
Love that you came to my home state!!! You even went through my home town of Albia!
No way!! Iowa was WONDERFUL! The whole state was beautiful and so hospitable. We absolutely loved it!
HECK yeah I will donate 🙏
Thank you so much!
It actually is easy to donate on a mobile device as well! Leukemi/Lymphoma is close to our hearts, and we're so happy to participate. But next time we want to come along for the ride!
Thanks so much, y'all! And YES! We'd love to bike it with you guys one day. 2026??
This looks SO cool!
It's SO much fun! Highly recommend!!
Glad to see you did the traditional RAGBRAI with camping and the trucks as opposed to the private contractors. You did it right!
Yes! We definitely wanted that experience at least once! We're thinking an RV might be nice one day though to get a little extra sleep. 😅

Biking is great. Such a simple pleasure.
I love to ride my Lectric mountain bike.
Agreed! It's like being a kid again.
Very well edited
Thank you!
This was so good to watch. I was a newbie this year as well. I will definitely do it again!!!!
So glad to hear you loved it as much as we did!! Hopefully we'll cross paths at RAGBRAI 2025! :)

We've watched a few Ragbrai videos over the years and yours is our favorite. Looks like so much fun! 🍌🍌🍻🚴🏻♂️
Thanks so much, y'all! It was an absolute BLAST! I think y'all would really love it, too!
Ragbrai is on my bucket list. Taking that much time being unavailable is not possible for me right now, but looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey.
One day!! RAGBRAI is certainly worth the work and days away from work. :)
I really enjoyed this. Very well done. I was a volunteer this year in the town of Macksburg which will be in your next vlog I am assuming. Macksburg is another very small town and our population is right at about 100 people.
Thank you! And, yes, I remember Macksburg! I believe we ate gravy and biscuits there. lol
@@chrisandsara Macksburg was the last pass through town before your overnight stop in Winterset.
i saw myself in this video so many times! my cousin and i recognized you guys but were too scared to say hi. i’m a iowa native and was laughing at the walking tacos 😂 so glad you liked ragbrai

Want to hear about all the BTS on RAGBRAI? We just released a podcast episode about our entire experience!

Can't wait for part 2! UA-cam ads are getting ridiculous... there were EIGHT ad breaks in this video!
Thank you!! It’s releasing tomorrow. Sorry for the ads
So cool you guys did this! I didn’t realized it ended in Burlington! Mark Alan lived in Burlington for about a year!
They change the route each year but this year it ended in Burlington which was such a sweet town!!
Sorry to hear about your friend did you enjoy your pitstop in Fairfield Iowa.
Thank you ❤ Unfortunately the day we rode through Fairfield was the one day we didn't ride (we'll explain more in the second video). It looked like a lovely town though!
Midwest nice beats Southern nice all day long.
Agreed! And I know you know since you've lived in both. :)
So sorry to hear about Allie😢
Thank you ❤
I donated $50. Allie was far too young. Tomorrow is not promised. Enjoy today.
Wow, thank you so much. ❤ That means so much to us and all who love someone who has/is battled the nasty disease.

It was definitely a hilly route but still so much fun! We're planning to do RAGBRAI 2024 so hopefully we'll see you there!
Sara is adorable! Marry me?
She's already married :)
