Just fished it Sunday. Did well. Took about 8 trout in the 13-to-14-inch range. You might have a week more of deceit fishing before the time change and the water temps drop. from then on it's just a few fish here and there. I've taken all my trout this year on a size 8 black Pat's Rubber leg. Tight Lines....
I was just there Sunday I fished the upper river upriver from Loman. Took all my trout in pockets drifting a dry fly. The lower river a bit high but stained. Thanks for the comment.
My father lives in Garden Valley, so I believe I am familiar with the area you are discussing. I haven't made it past 5 minutes in, but is the section you are talking about as a tailwater (in the Canyon), is that the water that flows along Banks Lowman Road?
no thats the south fork which is a very sterile river because of the granite bottom so smaller fish but its my favorite river the north fork is on highway 55 between boise and McCall
thats funny because basically no one fly fishes that river or its really not stirring up interest but ive caught some big fish in that river... in the canyon, under the dam and between the two big lakes
Great info! Can’t wait to get out on the water
Thanks for the info Mike! Can't wait to fish it now!
