Official Lyrics:
I was out in Daddy’s wood shop, ‘bout seventeen years old
Stacking up some lumber, sweeping saw dust off the floor
Way over in the corner, I smelled something kinda strange
I looked behind a can of paint and found a bag of Mary Jane
(I thought “What the hell is this?”)
It threw me for a loop, had me feeling all mixed up
‘Cause Daddy always told me only hippies smoked that stuff
I knew damn good and well he wasn’t leaning to the left
He’d rather die and go to hell than listen to the Grateful Dead
The day I found my daddy’s weed
I knew the truth and it set me free
That’s when I learned this apple didn’t fall far from the tree
I did a lot of growing up the day I found my daddy’s weed
Now, Mom was getting groceries and Dad was outta town
So I sat there on the workbench contemplating what I’d found
Went from feeling kinda pissed to thinking “What the hell”
I got my bowl out of the truck and broke off a little for myself
(Damn right)
That shit was awful sticky, had crystals on the leaves
Smelled kinda like a skunk and kinda like a Christmas tree
Might’ve come from California or maybe Colorado
But It was on different level than what I was getting down the road
The day I found my daddy’s weed
One of my favorite memories
That’s when I learned this apple didn’t fall far from the tree
I did a lot of growing up the day I found my daddy’s weed
I only hit it once and damn it hit me hard
Flew straight to the moon and back, sitting in the yard
Suddenly I understood why Daddy loved to work so much
When we heard him out there coughing it wasn’t from the dust
The day I found my daddy’s weed
Oh it still gets to me
The little blonde haired boy who use to bounce upon his knee
Became the man out in the backyard stoned on daddy’s weed
I love that the length of the video is exactly 4 minutes and twenty seconds.
I didn't even notice 😂
😂😂
Only the hippiest of us hippies noticed 😂
@@chirpydragonfruit9464 blud the hippiest aint on youtube they out in the sticks tendin to the garden
@fryedchiken48 blud ? Lol, I'm assuming you meant "bud", and hippies listen to UA-cam too you know. I know this because while I run a farm and grow my own plants and garden, I quite enjoy having UA-cam playing in the background while I tend to my plants. Music and hippies kind of go hand in hand in my humble experience
I miss smoking with my dad and tbh smoking his weed without him lol, miss you old man 1977-2020
My dad gave me a 71 chevy pickup, the glove box was stuck shut, six months later i jimmy the glove box open and found about a quarter oz of green goodness. Damn i miss that man
Love this! Thanks for sharing.
Whoever had their quarter oz stolen by the glovebox of greed is probably still pissed
@@CoreySmithMusic👍👍👍
My dad gave me a civic with 300 joints in the back of each seat that I hand rolled for his business the day before
I got the entire high school senior class together and we lit up during our lunch
Bro I'll never forget what you taught me at north Gwinnett high school. That was my favorite class. You were an amazing teacher but a much better musician. Every Friday was test time and you'd always break out the guitar afterwards. You'd tell us stories and give us life lessons. Much respect sir. Keep doin your thing.
Gwinnett ga!??
Very cool comment. Didn't realize he used to be a teacher.
This is awesome.
I read this comment aloud in the van with my wife and kids and it was followed by a choir of awwwwwwwes. Teachers like you are the cornerstone of our youth thank you
Cool song he's singing my life story lol
I can recall many times i found my dad weed 😂. Eventually i just got honest with him, he got the biggest grin ive ever seen him make haha. From that moment on we were a father son smoking duo. Eventually my other brother got the taste for it and we all 3 smoked with him almost daily until his sudden unexpected passing last july of 2022, i love you dad, you were and always will be my best friend. R.I.P. Dad, now your smoking top shelf, just save me some this time... Life has been so hard without you. Im trying to keep the family together and take care of everyone like i promised you i would. There has been so much happen this past year, i wish you would have been here to see it all. Ive asked myself soany times why you had to go the way you were taken from us. I cant forgive it, ive tried so hard. You didnt deserve it, we dont deserve it. Mom fights hard every single day and you were taken from not just me and my brothers but her too. Im trying to find it in my heart to forgive but im always reminded of your last moments and... It just hurts, more than any words i write can say and ive said alot, i love you dad..... Hey to all of you stoners out there with fathers that smoke. Smoke one with him, laugh eith him, overlook any issues or clashing moments between you both. Sit there with him as his son and just enjoy what you have. God knows i would give anything to have him beside me now. Sorry about the long comment everyone, i get emotional and i wrote all this through tears... Just love and cherish your dad
I'm so sorry for your loss. That made me tear up.
May God bless you🙏🏼
God bless Sherry
wish more southern States would loosen up
Most of the people in the southern states smoke it's the ones in office that can't handle truth and give people what they want.
Alright sounds great let’s just let everyone become stoners, get brainwashed in the process, and become liberals. (Not)
Preach
So as a weed grower you don't want it legal you'll be out of business mark my words from a grower in new york .😢
@@RayAllen1776 hell yeah love me some North cackalacky wacky backy
I love that this song is 4 minutes and 20 seconds long
My dad found my stash back in high school. Smoked my whole half an Oz. Then ate half a pizza 4 pork chops and half a tray of fries. I was half pissed off and half found it funny😊😅😂 RIP dad❤
This song makes me cry. Love you dad rip
Yeah my kids wouldn't be able to handle my stash.
My husband works at a dispensary, same.
@@JohnDoe-yx9nh well you raised those kids right. 👏 Hopefully your moms is okay!
Yeah it really is a task to grow. Trial and error with all that jazz.
I'll tell ya in my early days learning I started growing Skunk #1 in the backyard using that old slowly staple em to the ground method. I cut all the limbs off the trees surrounding them so they'd get 8 hours of sunlight. Made sure of that by camping out by them for two weeks.
Well one morning, an Apache helicopter buzzed my roof. Peeked out the window and saw that thing spray my plants with something.
I ran outside and pulled those girls out of the ground and ran them back in the house.
Trying to act natural, I walked to the mailbox and found a yellow card on my mailbox saying the Sherriffs Office was watching my property.
So yeah after that I stopped growing too. Could have lost the house!
They want me to start growing again too. But I need some serious seed base not on my own property where they're legally tagged by authorities and observed for proper health issues.
It's not as easy as it looks I know.
@@KayW1123 well... cherish him. He loves you. ❤️
If I was yuh kid I could🤣 life got too hard fast started smokin too much fast, stopped feeling high

I'm not a huge Country fan, but this song was awesome! Oh, and yes I'm a Stoner...4 2 0!
Its an acquired taste..that twangy music❤
All music is good, just matters if it touches the soul. I like some weird music I normally don't listen to. I don't write off any type of music until I hear it. Hell I was listening to that new German singer for hours, didn't understand not one single word but man did that music hit my soul. I have German heritage and listening to that German music made the language almost to where I understand what he's saying without knowing the language. I almost wonder if I tried learning German if it would be the easiest language to learn outside of English. I almost felt like a toddler, I kinda understand what their saying but I can't say it. 😂 Weird feeling. Never felt that with any other language?
3 generations of my family have hung out behind the shop after holiday dinners.
Love this!
We were known as the "shed heads"lol
"But it was on a different level than what I was getting down the road" - I love that line haha

Thanks for still making super dope relatable music. Been listening forever. Saw you perform in Columbia when Georgia play USC
I will never forget the first time I got baked. It was the most exciting day of my life. I was doing dishes while my foster parents went to their friend's house to get freshly baked cookies, they were both fried as hell, and I went up to their room to look for dishes. I knew where they hid their bong so I open the window put the fan in there like they did and ripped one. That was straight gas. It was called Cookie Monster and it was fuckin good. So I went back downstairs to do the dishes and as I was doing the dishes they walked in the door about 30 minutes after. I pissed my pants a little but got under control and blamed my red eyes on the soap. After that we both had a sketching contest. After that I don't even know what happened 🤣
This song brings back so many fun memories 😂

My dad was a WW II vet, he didn't put up with any bullshit. However, he also hadn't forgotten what it was like to be young and a hellraiser. As long as we largely avoided "the law" he was cool with us smoking weed and never bothered coming upstairs into our rooms (which usually reeked of weed). We found out he has tried it way back (the weed then was generally shitty) and rejected it, but it got better over the years. Anyway, he left us to it since nothing is more fun than doing something illegal. Interestingly, we only had police problems when it involved alcohol, which we easily got hold of while under age 18.
