- In the episode we cross from Gotland to Nåttarö. Unfortunately the weather gods were not on our side so it didn't go quite as planned.

Hi Michal. Sounds like a great Saturday evening, and thank you for including us on that list, a real privilege to be among that crowd. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
Sir, this is when you need the big genoa. It does not need as much wind when going down wind. Of course, it needs some wind like any sail. In general, I think that in-line spreaders and masthead rig are in many conditions better than a more modern rig design with most of the power in the mainsail - for a cruising sailor.
No worries, now we have a Gennaker, it would have been perfect for this trip
I'm not into your locations but I'm in a different part of the world... But, your tech info is defiantly credible and valuable and I really enjoy your simple explanations. Keep up the good work... Please.
Hi Ricki. Thank you so much for your kind words. More tech videos will come. All the best, Chris & Tanja
Hi, what an excellent video series you have been doing! We are new for sailing, and seeing you receiving Aurora in the early episode was the emotion we will be experiencing next year! Our new boat will be smaller, Beneteau 30.1, and it will have also a st-jib. I can see that your code sail is cableless... I guess that helps this sail being little bit more useful in broad angles? Could you tell little bit more about your code sail: brand, model, etc? Based on your experience now, would you still go for code 0 or would you get a fuller and lighter gennaker?
I agree with you; the old-fashioned Bruce anchor is perfect in the mud around there. Once, I had a tough time getting the beast out, although I reversed over it to use the boat weight to free the anchor. Finally, and with the help of the winch, I managed to haul it aboard. Nåttarö also brings some old memories from when the military operated a coastal artillery battery fortress to protect the inlets to Stockholm. All of these installations have been gone for a few decades. Thanks for the calming episode.
Hi Sgt-Bond. Thank you for sharing your experience on the Bruce anchor, can be pretty stressful when you are not able to get the anchor up. Glad you liked the episode. We will definitely be exploring Nåttarö more next time. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
Our favourite anchorage. It would be great to have buoys there as they also keep boats at good distances from each other when winds shift. But, in my opinion, it ruins the view a bit. I also have the Anchormatic our our 41 footer with 10 tons and it works like a charm. Plan is to do the reverse sail from Nåttarö to Visby this summer.
Hey there, indeed Nåttarö is an awesome anchorage. Did you do the sail to Visby this summer? Sorry so late to reply :)
Nice timelaps from Nåttarö
Thank you so much Pontus. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
Loved the time-lapse, what camera did you use for that? would also be interesting with some date indicators to know when things took place -- probably just because it is finally a channel in home waters! I did similar trip last summer, Gotska Sandön --> Visby --> Nåttarö :)
Hi Johan, we just used a GoPro Hero 7, they are pretty great for setting up night lapses in a simple way. I should be more up to date and give more information in the videos, your right. It's sometimes hard running a full time job aswell though. I will be getting some videos out soon though hopefully
Really nice and popular anchorage! And thus - a bit crowdy at peak season, so you have to challenge for buoy :)
Hi there. Yes, such a nice place, definitely going there again! I really hope that they will continue the project with the buoys. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
Great video! Nåttarö is one of our favorite islands. Are you happy with your Anchormatic davit? We have a rope and chain solution that works great on our stern anckor on our Bavaria 41, but I am not happy with the davit, it is too short for our 20kg Bruce anchor.
Hi Patrik. Thank you! Nåttarö is definitely also a place we will come back to and explore more. Yes, we are very happy with the Anchormatic solution, it makes such a difference. Let us know if you have any specific questions on it, happy to share. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
The unknown bay is called Östermarsfladen. I did not know that they put in buoys there. I recognized myself in the first clip 😝
Hi Henrik. Thanks! No, we hadn't heard about the buoys either, but think it's a really great project. Looking forward to meet up again. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
Nåttarö, a Swedish favourite.
Yes, we understand why, so beautiful. Cheers, Chris & Tanja
Remember the google map so we can follow where you are sailing
Hi Henrik, will try to do that, thanks
