- Joe Burke with a set of two reels, Paddy Kelly's and Seán sa Cheo, accompanied by Ann Conroy, then joined by Frankie Gavin and they play Lord MacDonald and Ballinasloe Fair. Recorded at the 25th Willie Clancy Summer School, Miltown Malbay, July 1997. Brilliant Irish traditional music!
There is only one Joe Burke. I live in St. Louis and we were fortunate enough to have The Galway Rambler in our town for many years, thanks to Nick Carter the owner of John D. McGurk's Pub. I was blessed to see and hear him hundreds of times throughout the years (I even got to play with him on quite a few occasions) and I will be forever grateful that I actually knew the great Joe Burke.
I'm a Scottish fiddler. This is gold.
Light of heaven to the lovely man. Condolences to his wife.
People who can't play have no idea how good this is,I play jazz but this is awesome
IRISH MUSIC CAN NOT BE PLAYED ANY BETTER VERY HEARTWARMING AND MOVES THE SPIRIT AND SOUL RIP JOE
We are listening to the greatest box player here,a privilege.
No phrase played twice the same way. Infinite variation. The pure drop!
I am a box player from kerry, the greatest of all time, RIP
A master: utterly relaxed & still & just watching the music pour out of his fingers all by themselves.
Lord McDonald's and Ballinasloe Fair once made famous by the great Michael Coleman and wonderfully played here by these champions
The man just moves me to tears
RIP to the wonderful Joe Burke. My condolence to Ann at this sad time.
I could spend the rest of my life listening to this!
This will be regarded as one of the finest moments in the history of Irish music!
I've played and drank with Joe.....best nights ever
I love Ann's guitar playing. Lovely and simple. Not smashing the guitar to drown the lead instruments or inserting so many chord changes that the rhythm is lost.
One of the great accordion reels ...and players!
Such a beautiful and elegant lady playing guitar.
His face is so relaxed, but his fingers are moving at light speed. Amazing performance.
Great accordion and fiddle duet and great guitar backing too Two of Colemans Lord McDonald's/ Ballinasloe Fair Sheer delight
