We are always on a budget. Zurich, Switzerland is the most expensive place to eat we have ever been to. Luckily, we found a cheap solution for meals while exploring this beautiful city. The grocery store! Not every country has ready to eat meals in grocery or convenience stores but Zurich did!

Brilliant share, I lived in Zurich for a long time but I now live my time out of a large city.
My home city! So cool to see that you both were hanging out there. Yes, kebab in Zurich is a great budget meal and it's filling. Nowadays they don't go for less than CHF 10 sadly. Missing Zurich, hoping to move back one day.
We had a great time in Zurich! Yes, it is crazy expensive but did not feel out of reach to see for one night. Hopefully we will find our way back into the country eventually. Thanks for watching!
I remember me and my friend eating ravioli and grind chicken burgers with peaches and mashed potatoes when we rode ou bikes and stuff around Switzerland in the early 90s from camp site to camp site to save money. A bag of chips cost a relative fortune at 5 and a half franks.
as a swiss citizen i can only agree, prices are absolutely nuts here.
even for people with an ordinary wage it's often too expensive, many swiss buy their food in germany for that reason.

Get the day ticket for Trisha/ buses etc. Cheapest option. Co-op has great sandwiches and cheap coffee etc too. Enjoy!

ässbar is swiss slang for essbar in german which means edible in english. many bars or restaurants implement this kind of joke in their name. bar is a common postfix and it just happens to be a recognisable word in english everyone knows and it relates to their profession

Zurich HB during the Christmas Market is RIDICULOUSLY PACKED 😂
I tried going there, but the accommodation options were surrealisticly expensive.
Same! We were lucky enough to have a friend who could host us for the night. 😀 Otherwise we never would have made it to Switzerland. We do come back the following week as we found a way to stay for free! Stay tuned!
and the cheapest cappuchino is-buy the 2chf.10 cold version at the supermarket then take it to the microwave at migros restaurant and heat it up!

Hi! The Grocery store was in the main train station in Zurich. Nothing special but still amazing when it came to affordable prepackaged meals!
Can i pay with euro there and more thing like pay tax in the stores?

Haha we had a situation back in Germany where we were sitting at the wrong airport for 4 hours. Then, had to take a very expensive taxi to the correct airport. I think there is some PTSD from that day and we always jokingly, or not, ask each other if we're going to the correct airport.
