Levi 501's are possibly the cheapest raw unsanforized jeans you can get (at least in the US). BUT ARE THEY WORTH IT!? I don't know maybe kinda sorta sure yes they are. Here's a little breakdown of my Levi 501's after 1 year of wear, numerous runs, walks, and them being too short.

Each brand has it's unique features. I personally like Wranglers, Lee, Guess, Pepe Jeans, Tommy H., Dkny and Keneth Kole reaction, I love the premium Japan made denim on the keneth brand. Have a nice day and denim up ;)

@@Alethea1985 TCBs are very nice for sure even better than modern Levi's but at the end of the day only one brand has the two horse patch

I've been playing around with having a small notebook with the style number, country made, when I bought them (new or used) and then the date of each wear and each wash. Geek I know, but I've only done one book (it is made in Japan to honor the denim geeks there). I just have to remember to take the book out of the pocket when I wash the jeans.

Wow they look great nice fades well worth the $30. I see people on reddit stress way too much about taper and tiny leg openings when slim straight/straight cut when sized right looks fantastic and very comfortable on anyone in sneakers or boots. I'm guessing people hear straight cut and they are expecting something really baggy because when I've showed my Gustin Straight's people were perplexed at how great of a fit it was and confused at how it was possible with a straight cut or something idk it was weird, but that's malefashionadvice for you.

I still think the levi 501 stf are the best bang for the buck. You hit the nail on the head with you can’t expect much but you can get 2 years or more out of a $50.00 pair of jeans. I’m sure the $250.00 jeans are made better. But they arent’t made 6 x better.

I know this is an older video but it blows my mind how cheap Levis are in the US. Here in the UK, Levis 501 STF retail for £130
If it's any consolation, I buy European tools and cry every time I do the conversion of what a German pays for knipex.

How often do you wash them? how long did you wait to wash them? how did you prep them for wash? have you done anything outside of normal wear to fade them? Do you dry them in the dryer? You didn't address any of that

I am sorry to report but those are counterfeit Levis. There are a variety of aspects that are wrong. The fifth pocket tapers too much, there aren't enough fly buttons, there is yellow stitching in multiple places that Levis doesn't employ, the outseam hem is wrong, and more. That is why there is a hole in pocket fabric and the crotch area is failing.

@@TheIronSnail I have been wearing Levis 501s almost every day since 1969 and have at least 80 pairs of 501s, but what do I know. If you are happy then it really doesn't matter.

Damn man, I really miss when the stitching inside these was white. It gave nice contrast to the jeans when you cuffed your pants. Sadly its just blue now

Love the progress, I'd love to see what you think of the Wrangler 936DEN. They're a much higher quality and thicker pair of raw denim than the STFs that you can get for about $25. They also fit pretty similar to the 501s with a slim straight cut and a highish rise/tighter hips. I honestly think you'd be a fan of them, but I totally understand if they're not your thing. Anyways, keep it up!

I hope you like them, I usually go TTS in waist (they stretch a lot in waist, but can be pretty tight in the butt) and up 1 size in the inseam even though they are sanforized, because they will still shrink a good amount. Hopefully they're not too wide for you and maybe one day we'll see you in some cowboy boots, haha!

My levi's Jean's looks great! I wash them maybe every six months! I dond work with them! I just normal wear and tear!

I bought 501s a size up, and followed the regular bathtub shrinking procedure. Soaked them in room temp water and wore them immediately after until they dried. While they are definitely comfortable, and fit me very well as they literally shrunk to fit my body, I just don't really like the slim silhouette. is there any way to maintain the original unwashed fit after washing?
What’s your actual waist measurement? I’m trying to gauge the first wash shrink vs eventual stretching out to size my buy

I had those jeans for 10 years never wash them lol and wore them almost every day they last!!!
Levi, 501 should never be washed lol and if you do maybe 5 years later in the shower, scrub them good and never put them in the dryer I’m a hippie when it comes to 501 raw denim jeans 😂

STF's for 30 beans???...even two years ago, that was steal...i can't find them for less than $50 now...but, i would still recommend them to noobs...no better training jeans than 501's to learn how to work raw denim

Hmmmm I’d say 34 x 32 would be ideal for you but you could get away with 35 x 34

Eh not particularly! Wait until they are barely damp and toss them on. Otherwise the knees stretch out in a weird way.

That's a lot of wear for just a year..but they were cheap..if you line dry,they will last twice as long

I like the look of Levi’s after they age and also they feel good. But I don’t like the way they wear thin in the crotch area so fast. I have had some American eagle jeans that didn’t wear in the crotch area after the same amount of time as the Levi’s. I’m also hearing that a lot of people are experiencing the same wear areas from Levi’s and they are changing the quality of materials they are using

Bought a pair of STF 501s and I gotta be honest, kinda hated them. The legs were crazy wide and the crotch was so low I couldn't ride my bike with them on. I'm sure they're great for somebody but I'm not that person.

@@TheIronSnail UPDATE: Since I couldn't wear them i figured what the hell and I threw them in on hot every wash cycle I did for about a month. I put them in the dryer and they shrunk to me and fit perfectly but im not sure why. I washed them hot and machine dried them before but alas they were still too big, denim is weird.
