You make a good point. Much like Tommy Shaw of Styx. While he has done lead vocals in his career I always felt he was perfect as a co vocalist or an incredible tri vocalist in Styx. He has that built for backing vocals high voice that fits perfectly in harmony over solo lead vocal. Just my opinion
I thought the helicopter was doing the live concert equivalent of a London radio DJ with verbal diarrhea, busy gobbing off over the first and last 1/3rd of the song. I guess if I really wanted to hear helicopter noises over music, I'd listen to something about the Vietnam War.

A helicopter isn't an eye in the sky any more - way too noisy and easy to detect ... and perfect way of ruining an otherwise good live performance. Nowadays a high altitude drone does a much better job and you don't even know it's there - ask the Russians in the Ukraine if you'd like first-hand experience.
