Ill be arriving to Big Island in a few weeks and not well off $$$. Bought one way ticket due to not knowing where I'll be and avoid schedule restrictions. Thought about renting a cheap car for 2-3 weeks. Thought about camping on beaches but how do I move around and eat? Thought about a hostel! I even subscribed to WWHOOFING but prop a mistake. 8 months ago my back went out and thought life was over. I need to return back home under a month but just cannot afford hotels and love the jungles as iv'e been to the whole Hilo Puna, Pahoa, etc..etc... LOVED IT. I am taking the bus from Kona to Hilo after taking 2-3 days in Cap Cook/Kona and going snorkeling in Place of Refuge 1st then go to Hilo side. I thought about just walking around and asking around where to stay, even if its a tent somewhere. My back made me look to life differently and taking this trip to enjoy some time off bfore committing to move permanently in 8-10 months with my only friend, my dog. Yes i'm aware of the rabies documents. I'm currently downsizing tremedously with "things" to avoid moving with unwanted crap. I have an income, I have medical insurance, i'd like to buy a piece of land through owner financing and settle till my back takes over me and then probably go to the other side in one way or another. I take ver high doses of CBD for pain and it work but damn its expensive! Better than taking prescip's that will kill my liver faster. If anyone can help or have any advise where to stay for about 2-3 weeks please email me at marioa5000@gmail.com I don't smoke, dont do drugs, no commitments, and really just me and my dog in this world and looking to rest and gather myself a bit before I make a big move and bring my dog and fully retire in Big Island as healthy and frugal as possible. PS I've already bought much solar power and also a multi-instrumentalist with a lot of music gear to play music.
I really enjoy your videos. They are very informative. Thank you for making them. What beaches would you recommend for snorkeling and sup yoga, preferably on the Big Island? Thank you in advance!
Hi Jeff! I found some rooms on craiglist, they look pretty nice and they cost around 800$ a month. If I will get the job that I am applying to I am thinking about renting a room for the trial period, I also checked Airbnb.com. Do you think it could work? And do you know some other websites/agencies where I can find temporary locations? Thank you! Chiara
The two you mentioned are the ones I know about. I think VRBO is popular also. I have also used other apps like Hotpads, Zillow and Trulia to look for rentals. Craigslist is probably most popular.
As a visitor to HI, is there any item that can be brought to HI that the locals would appreciate getting/receiving. I am thinking about some item that may be expensive to get there or in short supply. Thank you for the video's.
the bus on oahu is so crowded, stinks, and ive had issues with the people on it, i would NOT recommend it to tourists coming there. at the most i would only use it for getting around waikikiki/ala moana and MAYBE airport if you cant afford the 15 dollar shuttles. go for the shuttles.
you NEED a little enthusiasm. also. most people just one to know about one part eg accommodation. make titles so we dont have to watch the whole video. time is money
