Actually, there is another tuning that can used, without changing any strings. It's called standard plectrum tuning, coz it was used on plectrum banjos in the 1900s. All you do is tune the D string down a tone, to C3. Then you tune the E string down a tone, to D4. The result gives you maj & min chords based on C, F & G. These shapes may even be easier to barre on other frets, making chords from other keys easier to play.
thank you very much for this video ! this is very useful for me ! now i can play the song called " just like a woman" by manfred mann from the 60's with very easy simple chords shapes by transposing the chords and the song up to the transposed key of C major, but still play the song in the original key of G major by tuning my soprano G C E A tuned ukulele right down 5 semitones to the barritone D G B E tuning for barritone sounding ukulele ! this way i will be able to play along with my own backing track which i am going to make all by myself with band in a box backing track creation software ! cheers ! :)
@@ukesong kinda a bit funny sounding, the strings tend to get a bit looser in terms of tension and it tends to sound a bit lower in terms of timbre and tone, but still sounds great ! :) Got nice chorus and tremeloe effect pedals i can use with it too as it is an electric ukulele ! :)
I'm actually going back to traditional Uke tuning with a low G. I like to pick out pop and traditional tunes. It seems that the A string is much more useful than having a low D
That's greattt! Im still an amateur but am learning pretty fast..just because of this awesome video which helps me tune my uke faster than ever!!!!! Tysmmm!!:-)

432hz? Are you going to perform yoga music on a ukulele 😂, For me, 432hz is something like the " placebo effect". The music just feels a bit different but not necessarily better. What is your personal opinion?
@@ukesong i started tuning to 432 hz before i knew about it being a healing frequency . A friend of mine who is a experienced musician with 10 years of experience behind his belt told me that A=432hz tuning is softer and more ambient in acoustic instruments. So one day i give the tuning a try on my baritone uke and i was astounded at how much better it actually sounded. The ringout of the strings was clearer and lasted alot longer and they rang out in uniform. I've tested 440 and 432hz side by side with a uke of the exact same model and the 432 variant sounded better overall. 432hz works really well with acoustic instruments made out of wood but doesn't make a large difference on electric instruments
@@romanianbadass5062 Thanks for sharing in detail your experience! I do agree with you that acoustic instruments sound really good in A432. I just made a 432 Hz Baritone ukulele tuning video. You can watch it here. ua-cam.com/video/ro41ijXRFqo/v-deo.html After 1-2 days I will make and upload a 432 HZ tuning video for soprano and concert ukuleles (standard reentrant C tuning) Let`s see what will be the audience reaction/comments if any and if there are requests I will produce even more 432 Hz tuning videos (half step-up / down from standard, full step-up full step down from standard etc. all in A432. I will appreciate your feedback and comments on my A432 videos in the future. I guess there might be a discussion related to 432 tunings, so if you comment and share your opinion and experience with other people would be great ;) This topic is very interesting.
