- Instead of missing out on a milestone, we decided to host a virtual baby shower by creating a private Facebook group and going LIVE through that platform. This video walks you through the planning/organization required before the shower, tips for decorating your backdrop, game ideas, and tips for how to run the virtual shower smoothly while you are LIVE.

This was actually super helpful! A family friend has just relocated to California from Louisiana and has absolutely no family here so I want to throw them a sprinkle but was trying to figure out a way to include her distant family and these were really helpful tips! I am amazed that you were able to pull off such an awesome baby shower despite all the restrictions and quarantine. Seriously, very impressive! I’m usually very creative when it comes to planning events for family and friends but I was clueless up until this video of how to save the shower we were planning on having for my sister in law. My virtual shower is next Sunday and I’m excited but also nervous because I have no clue how it will go. I have a backdrop and balloons for decoration. I bought a ring light for lighting and hopefully that will do it. I decided not to do a diaper raffle but there will be games. Thank you for more ideas!

Hi thank you so much for this video! Question: for the music, just log into another computer and sit the computer next to the one you are using? I think music is an awesome touch!
Thanks for the question! Yes that’s exactly what we did. Use any device you have access to for the music. Make sure to ask a trusted family member to call you or comment if the volume is too loud or distracting.
What do you suggest to use for lighting? How many people should be there to help make a virtual shower successful?
Good question. I didn’t bring in additional lighting, but I made sure the event was during the day, blinds open, and light on. You might want to check on that area of the house during the time you want to have the shower to see how the lighting is and go from there. I think any number of people can make the virtual shower successful. Probably anywhere from 10 people plus. I want to say I had about 40-50 people that were able to join us.
Love your video! Thank you for all the tips. Did you organize your own baby shower? I’m due in September and am sad that I can’t have a “normal” shower organized by friends. I’ve asked a few friends to organize a virtual shower for me but they are too busy. Is it weird to throw your own virtual shower?
Laura Kluga Good question. I was already going to have a real shower thrown by my mom and future mother in law before the virus closed everything down. I was involved in the planning of that one too. I don’t have a sister or a best friend so it seemed a little weird to be involved, but my reality was a little unique I guess. So we already had a registry created and invitations were sent out. We were receiving gifts, but then we had to cancel the real shower, so I decided to do the virtual shower to open the gifts we were already receiving. I’m sure my mom & future mother in law would have been more involved in the virtual shower, but I’m much better at the computer/social media than they are, so it all came together that way. I do think it’s best if someone else can help host as it’s not typical to throw your own shower, but if you’re going to regret not having one, I say go for it. I would probably be careful of my wording when I send out the invitations to really emphasize everything except the gifts. Like how you want to create a memory, or you want to involve family and friends and give a nursery tour, or you want to “spend time” and play baby games with them. This way it doesn’t look weird that you’re “asking for gifts.” Another way to look at it is the gifts aren’t really for you. They’re for the baby (if that makes you feel more comfortable with throwing “yourself” a shower). I know this is a little long, but I hope it helps. Congratulations ♥️

I love this trying to host a virtual live shower !! Just to clarify the games are done by guest before the shower and you only announce the game and winner during the shower ?
Yes I posted the games about 10 days out and I posted them about 3 days apart from one another. This helped remind people about the LIVE event coming up too. Good luck with everything 💕

How do you do a virtual one when you don’t have gifts and you hate talking 😂😂 I decided a drive by would be better for me. My friends rather send money and/or diapers

Did you ask the guest to fill out the his her quiz before the baby shower?
Yes, we posted the link to the Google Form Quiz on our private Facebook page a couple days in advance and I told them to complete it by Friday at 10pm (night before the shower) so that I would know the winner and their guesses and we could announce it during the LIVE shower.
Did Facebook let you see people’s faces like zoom?
No, they were only able to comment.
Do you keep all of the guests on mute?
I did it via Facebook live so they were able to write comments only. I actually think it was good this way because the shower was able to stay focused instead of having distractions.
Did you do the games during live ?
I posted the games in advance to our Facebook group. It was a great way to remind guests of the upcoming event and then we just announced the winners during the LIVE event.

How did you create the quiz for the Him or Her game?
At the time I made this video, I used my teacher account so I had this feature available to me. But since then, I believe google has now allowed regular accounts the option to make quizzes too! Go to google forms and under the settings option, you can select to make the questions a quiz. Good luck! 💗
Just realized imma have to have a virtual baby shower and I’m nervous cause sr now I feel like nobody’s going to participate
I found as long as I posted consistently in the group, people joined in. You could always post exclusive photos of ultrasounds or pics of you as a baby to keep people engaged. Good luck, I’m sure your friends and family will be happy to participate 💕
