The way artists in the 80s could hide the meaning of their songs so good. Admit it we all thought this song was innocent but until we got older we realized the meaning😂.
I was a 21 year old college student when this song & video came out in 1981 and we knew exactly what the song was about. In fact it was a bit of an adjustment to see this video, as many of us primarily knew her as Sandy from Grease.
As a 8 year old in 1981. I did not know much about music at the time. This song and video got heavy airplay at the time. I was really into this song as a 8 year old. It was the first time I found out who Olivia Newton John was and this was my favourite song in 1981. From that moment I got more into listening to pop music. Since then in the 1990s I first saw her musical movie Grease and Xanadu and the Xanadu soundtrack which was very popular in the early 1990s when it was released on CD, when I first listened to it.I heard she passed away a few days ago. This was a #1 smash hit in 1981 for Olivia Newton-John! This was ranked the biggest hit song of the 1980s. R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John.
Still one of the funniest videos of the 80s. Sheer natural talent, remarkable woman.
RIP Olivia you will be sadly missed by many I'm sure 💓.
I know it's so funny. It's heartbreaking to know she has died x 😢
Thank goodness I first heard this song as a kid through the music video. I always thought the song was about aerobics and working-out. Never had to ask my mom what these lyrics meant. RIP Olivia.
@@lt.frankdrebin3317 true, funny how you find out these things later on in life, especially the ending of it, quite challenging at that time.
She said that this video killed the song, and I agree. It was unwatchable even at a time when music videos were spectacularly bad.
@@FishFemme
I never knew that 😕
The video made the song I thought 😐
This song was Olivia’s biggest hit and my favorite song back then, not to mention the #1 hit for over 10 weeks in a row. Rip beautiful…you’ll always be the queen of pop in my book😇
Songs don't stay at #1 anymore Olivia was #1 in my book RIP
What a beautiful voice I love this song. How are you Darlene ?
I was sad to hear she's gone 😔. I listen to this every time when I'm at my gym and gets me more motivated. Especially fighting for my blood sugar and pressure. I'll always think of her as Sandy in Grease. R.I.P. Olivia, God rest your soul. 🙏🏽😇
Bless you ,she'll be missed I loved her music 🎶
This was a song that actually encouraged physical activity.
Just not the obvious kind…
Carajo, estoy muy triste por la partida de Olivia Newton, cuando era un niño y la veía en televisión me decía que quería tener una novia así de hermosa y Rockera. Que descanse en paz mi amada Sandy.
The world has lost a truly talented and great person. RIP Olivia. My father suffered with bouts of skin cancer for years till it made it's way to his spine where they couldn't do anything for him. Cancer is a horrible thing.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my father to cancer early this year.
Sorry to hear that guy's. My step father beat stage 3 melanoma Cancer. God bless
Sending love. Rest in peace to your Dad xx
So many good memories from a long past decade. Her music won't be forgotten!
And it will live on forever as will her beautiful spirit. RIP legend
Funny how I heard this yesterday in a taxi in lagos Nigeria. And immediately I caught the vibe. Good music don't fade really

This was one of my favorite songs growing up. Will always remember you Ms. Newton -John 🙏🏾
I was around 7 years old when I sang this song out loud in front of my religious mom and got popped in the mouth. I get why she did it now. Those lyrics were risque for the times in the early 80s.
Rickey Gee TV // I remember 'Toot, toot. Heyyy beep beep!' from Donna Summers' Bad Girls. My mother didn't appreciate me singing that one either... 😄
@@ksmith96 Your mom was smart. because that was a song about street walkers! lol.
@@rickeygeetv6197 // IKR!! 🤣 Doggone satanic music industry...
My niece was singing this song and this is the first time I ever saw the music video. The Most 80s ish I ever seen😂😂😂😂
Why am I not surprised that such a religious parent hit a 7 year old in the mouth for singing something that he didn't even really understand. Pure class.
This was such a cool time period in music history. Disco was on its last legs and synth pop was coming on strong.
Lies again? Opposite Nazri
@@NazriB what?
Yes. The 80-81 era is underrated, swallowed up between Punk/New Wave/Disco in 76-79 and the explosion of the '80s in 1982
Maybe in the US. Europe had many of offshoots of disco through the entire decade that were very popular
Now since 2020 Mumble rap began to die down while SynthPop once again comes back strong. Now here we are in 2022 with retro songs ranging from Disco, Synth, Punk rock and R&B. 2020s are going to be an interesting era for sure :P

This song was #1 on Billboard for 11 weeks. It ranks the #1 single of the entire 80's. Look it up!. The entire album is incredible, perfect pop. Not just the single.
Iconic! They should of made more music
Agree. The album is fantastic.
but only this single was famous /known

She was one of the loveliest ladies ever to grace our planet. The world died a little bit when she passed.
My social studies teacher put this video up for our class as a birthday request to one of our students and half of the class so invested in this and the other half was extremely uncomfortable
RIP Olivia. Thanks for leaving us this iconic song from the 80's, it reminds me of when I was a kid when I hear this being played in the radio back then.

The earth is not spherical, spherical. I can't see no curvature. Let's get into scriptural. Let me feel the still flat earth.

Steve Lukather = Guitar solo 2:18
David Hungate = Bass
Outstanding musicians from Toto.
Toto maybe the greatest iconic session musicians ever 👌🏻
This is a true masterpiece... she produced unforgettable hits ♥️♥️♥️🐣💯
I believe John Farrar produced this hit.
@@logografia Me thinks that Simone meant 'produced' in a more liberal way. Physical was refused by Tina Turner because it was so, let's say, sugestive... Olivia Newton-John made this. And this video looks good for me, now, 2022. It just works.
I was just listening to Toto guitarist Steve Lukather's autobiography and that's him playing guitar on this track.

One of most unique voices in that late '70s early '80s on unbelievable Talent will be missed Sandy Olivia
The number 1 song of the 80’s decade.
That is true. Not Michael. Not Prince. Not Madonna. It was Olivia who had the #1 song of the 1980's.
R.I.P. Olivia, missed that music. It was been perfect.
The way artists in the 80s could hide the meaning of their songs so good. Admit it we all thought this song was innocent but until we got older we realized the meaning😂.
goes much deeper than that. song writer's secret
Hello 👋
I was a 21 year old college student when this song & video came out in 1981 and we knew exactly what the song was about.
In fact it was a bit of an adjustment to see this video, as many of us primarily knew her as Sandy from Grease.
Everyone at the time knew what this was about.
"Let's get animal" 😉
Rest In Peace Olivia your songs especially ones like this one will live on forever. 👼🏻 🌻

This is the first song I heard while working out, immediately got addicted to it.
RIP Olivia Newton John, you’ll be greatly missed... 😭😭😭

A very good looking woman with a wonderful singing voice. I think she was a very iconic artist. Decades from now people I think will still be watching Grease and listening to her hits and wonderful voice and if you are a man enjoy this attractive woman in her pomp she was unique. R.I.P. Olivia Newton John.
