- I created the Hobie Getaway Mega Mast Stepper to raise my mast single-handed because I had back surgery 7 months ago and can no longer lift my mast. This Hobie mast lifter is a real back saver. If you are cleaver, you could modify the design for Hobie 16, Hobie 18, and other catamarans. I simply built this for my own enjoyment. Let me know if you like the idea.

Dude, you should sell them. I only sold my getaway because I could no longer step the mast myself. This is the most awesome stepper I have ever seen.
This is amazing! I also sail a getaway in Utah, down in Saratoga Springs. If you ever decide to get rid of that mega stepper, let me know! I'll buy it from you in a heart beat!
Wish I had a grandpa like you! I’d like to make one for myself. Any chance you can show some photos of the brackets that the Mega Stepper uses to attach to the cross member? That seems to be the secret sauce here if my assessment is correct. If I keep stepping my mast using my back it will look like yours soon enough. Work smarter not harder. Great video. I know folks are asking if you sell them. I know that's more work for you. I'd love to make my own. Do you have scale drawing or photos of your Mega Stepper? I don't have a Getaway, but I should be able to adapt it to my old Hobie Cat.
Honest question: What would you do if you capsize? I'm not trying to be snarky.
