  • John Levy here attempts to answer the question which has always puzzled mankind: "Who Am I" ?
According to Ramana Maharshi our very nature is being, consciousness and bliss (Sat-Chit-Ananda). But how can we recognise this for ourselves?
To achieve his aim the author enlists the aid of Vedanta, and its highest aspect of Advaita, or Non Duality.
Our essential being is something other than the mind and the body we claim to possess.
John Levy (1910-1976) was a British mystic and also known for translating the works of his Guru Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon into English.

Kindly please consider doing John Levy's Nature of Man according to the Vedanta. This will be first time on UA-cam. No audio of the book exists as yet. Thanks in advance for your efforts.

Thank you for your comment. I think "Immediate Knowledge" was the first one on YT too, wasn't it? Because of your request, I will definitely read through "Man according to the Vedanta" and then probably upload it to YT as well. That may take some time, though, as my to-do list is still long and the series of John Wheeler books alone will take some time. Nevertheless, I'm always open to suggestions. Have a nice day my friend!

      Addendum:
Do you know the website of Peter Brown - TheOpenDoorway.org? There are hundreds of hours of audios (satsangs) available for download, I've just discovered it and I like it. Unfortunately I don't have his books, but I'm sure they're good too.

@@spiritual_audiobooks You are absolutely right! Immediate Knowledge and Happiness was also the first on UA-cam. 👏👏 And when you are able to do John Levy's second book, that will also be the first on the UA-cam. It is amazing how the populace manages to miss the good stuff/the real things. John Levy's two books are perhaps the clearest and direct pointing to the truth of advaita. But you are the only one who did the audio of the first book.
I perfectly understand that your plate is more than full, albeit with good stuff. John Wheeler 's books are also eagerly awaited. John Wheeler also understood the heart of the matter. That is why he closed his shop! Of all the Western teachers of Advaita, I find John Levy and John Wheeler to be the clearest. This may surprise many readers.
There is a subtle difference between JL's and JW's books. While both point to the inner core truths of Advaita--with their characteristics clarity and immediacy, JL actually "shows" them to us in our own direct anubhava, experience. The way JL "unpacks" the teachings, step-by-step, is amazing, unbelievable. As though, he is holding the hand of the would-be seeker.
JL, like Jean Klein, studied with Sri Atmananda. As a matter of fact, JL helped translate Sri Atmananda's two small books into English: Atma Darshan and Atma Nivritti. One can see how JL's own books are extended "meditations" on the themes of these two little volumes. While Jean went on to draw upon other systems of India philosophy into his teachings--like Kashmir Shaivism et al.--JL struck to the core, pure and pristine Advaita of Sri Shankara's tradition. Such is the glory of this tradition, my friend.

@@spiritual_audiobooks There are many teachers who purportedly are teaching their brands of Advaita. For one's own edification, it is good to stick to one or two. For my part, i find the books of Sri Ramana, Sri Atmananda, and Nisargadatta Maharaj and JL and JW to be the most direct and clearest expressions. If you are interested and open to listening to some really good traditional Advaita in Shankara's tradition, may I recommend Ira Schepetin's talks. There are about 70 of those on UA-cam. You will be amazed. You may want to start with his talk titled Five Fundamentals of Vedanta. It is as good as it gets. A.M.D.G.

@@musafirrahgir3199 Thanks for your detailed comment! For me it is also valuable that Jean Klein is fully realised and you can feel that. Just like the three great Advita teachers. For me, Jean Klein is no less valuable. John Wheeler also gives very good and particularly direct pointers, so today I worked off something from your wish list again and published another audio book by JW. Enjoy!

      Yes, I really like that.
This is a really good example of what we really desire is desirelessness.
