this is a sick video 3d scanning for this is pretty damn advanced- the cost/ idea process to just capture the geometry so you can design your custom suspension is deserving of a video it self!

Nice work. I think for the price the Peel2 is a great scanner. I have a Creaform Handyscan 700 and do a lot of automotive part scanning with it. I plan on scanning the whole engine bay and K member on my Fairmont when I get to that project. Also you can get cheaper targets from retrotargets.com. I use them and they work great and are half the price of Creaforms targets.

Given what you see here, any regrets? What's better/worse between the two scanners?

Thanks for the info! Back in 2016 I saw a demo of the Handyscan 700 in-person and I was sold on 3d scanning then and there. That is an awesome piece of hardware.

@@vidznstuff1 The Peel2 is a structured light scanner where the 700 is a laser scanner. The 700 has a lot better resolution and accuracy. That comes at a price though. You could buy roughly 7 Peel 2 scanners for the price of a 700 when I bought mine :D

Awesome! What scanner and software are you using?

Thanks! The scanner is a Peel 3d, I'm using their software to scan with, and then exporting directly into Solidworks.

Are the results worth the $10k? I've heard it can be quite the headache processing scan data for use with CAD.

@@rogersj3 Processing is definitely a challenge. I would agree that with scanners the hardware is quite a bit ahead of the software, but the software is getting closer with every update. That, and some experience applied to the clean up process removes most issues. As far as worth goes for me, yes, it is, but I also use it outside of channel related projects quite a bit.
