Lovely. We went on the Encounter July 23. Two floors down, the balcony actually has double depth, so some undercover near the door, like floor 12, and then some out of the shade for the sun loungers. Level 11 is a small balcony with no cover. We always book interconnecting rooms for the four of us, so two bathrooms, two TVs, space to move around each other. That was our first balcony cruise and we enjoyed our dessert, morning tea, pre-activity time out on the balcony. On a longer cruise we did spend time in the room, just lounging. Kids were 10 and 14.
We had Cabin 11514 on the same Cruise but was in October 2022. Our Cabin looked just like yours. Was Cruise number 3 for us. We had Cruise number 4 the Month after to NZ on the Explorer.
Silly question for a first timer, when you are laying on the bed are you looking in the direction you are travelling? I need to see where I’m going, motion sickness.
that's a very reasonable question. It depends what side of the ship you are on, and the type of room. The ship is never going fast enough to feel direction like a vehicle. You'll just feel the sway. We love being rocked to sleep. If it does feel weird, you can always put your pillow at the other end.

Every room is different, some are facing the direction, some are across the ship & some are probably the other way
