Have you ever asked for a raise before?!
Never heard this set before and I've never seen Maria have so much fun on stage.
“Is yesterday good for comedy???” 😂
I didn't get it, but looks like everyone else did. Could you explain?
What I love about the "is yesterday good for comedy" is that it's a complete ad-lib to save a line that she flubbed, and it ends up also being a brilliant breakdown/meta-commentary on comedians who say "this happened to me the other day". Comedians say that so much, and the audience is all in on it knowing that it didn't really happen "the other day", but no one really dares call it out.
It's short, sharp and to the point, and hilarious.
The advice is right! At a job in which I had put in THREE weeks notice (to help cover shifts so people could celebrate religious holidays), I was asked to come in the day after my last day and train the new person. I decided to tell the owner that I'd do it if they pay me $8 an hour more. He accepted the offer, and even when I went back to the company, I had never been taken off payroll so my pay was still $8 higher than it typically would have been. I went on and off with this company for 5 years and playing hardball when you have nothing to lose (I was quitting anyway) really pays off.
You asked.. you asked!! Lol. Love you Maria!
