Great fair reasoned video! I have the pleasure of owning bottles of every major batch of La Nuit (2009,2011,2014,2018) and i've come to my own conclusion on the scent reformulations. The openings and the performance seem to be the biggest difference in the batches. The scent itself after 10 minutes is the same for all the batches to me, many times i have sprayed each batch on different wrists and cannot tell the difference after drydown. The openings of 2009-2011 are super strong and very alchoholic, everything after 2014 is a little more bright/blended and toned down. Still they are SUPER similar and not worth any extra money. The performance is interesting, i think La Nuit 2009-2011 is better at lasting longer on MORE peoples skin, and the 2018 batch for some people will only last an hour but for others (Thankfully me) get 4-6 good hours (with a couple extra sprays). To be honest the vintage is wayy to overhyped, 99% of people should really spend any extra money they would spend on vintage on a 200ml bottle and just spray a couple more times. Hope this was interesting.

When I first smelled it, it wasn’t my favorite I picked up to much alcohol at the opening and I just wasn’t crazy about it I even kind of regretted buying it 😅 after that I pretty much put it to the back of my fragrance collection and forgot about it for 2 whole years 🤯 I smelled it again in March and after 124 different fragrances and two years of my pallet completely refining and learning to love spicey woody fragrances I absolutely loved it!!! The alcoholic smell completely went away and the cardamom was so OP!!! Just last week I purchased a 2011 bottle of LNDH from the UK I can wait for it to get here it’s so much more darker than the one I have I’m so excited for it to get here I can’t wait to wear it in this beautiful San Francisco weather.
I’ve had quite a bit of luck with LNDL, both my original 2009 bottle as well as my 2018 bottle. It always worked great with my skin chemistry. Can’t wait to see your thoughts on the clone 👍🏽
Hate to be the party pooper here, but 2011 isn't vintage formulation, 2011 was the start of the first(of many) reforumulations - 09-10 is actual vintage formula. Althoug 11 and 09-10 batches smell very similar, probably 95% the same.

Hey bro! Today, I've discovered something strange! When I tried to QR Code Reader on my perfume's box, it seemed a ''Philips 58PUS8505 58'' 146 Android Smart 4k Ultra HD LED TV'' product! May they have copied a Philips product's QR Code to a fake perfume, then?
idk how well known this is but i think this is important news to share: so first of all in terms of reformulations of la nuit there have only been 2 in the past years... you will hear people talk about wether there have been further reformulations around 2018 or 2020 and so on but if you look at the actual formula code (back of the box after the ingredients list) you can see that the orignal formula code is 8YB02-1, the 1st reformulation (~2012) is 8YB02-2 and then the 2nd reformulation (~2015) is C167049/1 and all the batches until now have had the same formula code, so the same juice (my 2020 bottle included e.g.)... you will see differences in colouration but that's mostly effects of maceration i believe... maybe there are some minute batch variations but negligable considering there are variations anyway with different skin chemistry etc... however, i recently purchased a new 2022 bottle and upon spraying it i thought i got a fake, it was that different... lo and behold when i looked on the back of the box there was a new formula code "N70011799/1"... so apparently there has been another reformulation recently, idk when exactly... if you wanna talk about bad reformulation this is it imo... this is truly a watered down la nuit, the previous batches since 2015 seem amazing compared to these newer ones... pick up any leftover bottles from previous years (C167049/1) while you have the chance guys...
In 2024 the fórmula color is almost clear😩😢 I remember very well my 2013 barco, the formula was much darker, I really miss the Old original formula, I dont know why YSL ruined this perfume that was a masterpiece
I have a bottle of 2019 formulation and although I love the smell, I will never buy again. It may be my skin type, but I'd be lucky to get 3 hrs performance.
nice video ,word to your mother as well . Totally agree ,may as well just reapply the new batch through out the day for what it's worth. JF totally screwed anyone finding a cheap bottle of the vintage stuff by bigging it up so much .
I've always preferred the vintage too, especially off of a test strip. Truth be told, I never tested it on skin so I don't really know how it compares to my 2015 bottle; but with so many frags in the collection, I'm sure there was a point that my interest just waned. Still, it would be nice to pop into an old chemist one day and find a vintage bottle. Would definitely buy it and keep it, if only the remind me of better times.
Great vid Steve. You’re the first person (that I’ve seen) comparing the new/old batches. I love LNDL and was very curious as to the difference of the two. By the way, have you tried Date For Men? I bought the 10ml bottles, just to try, and I get hints of LNDL in the DNA (most likely the cardamom). I have to say, from the 60+ bottles that I own, that I’ve never received as many compliments from any fragrance (including LNDL) than I have wearing Date. A great video mate and makes sense if you have that attachment, and it wasn't crazy prices. Now weirdly I have a clone that sounds more like the vintage than my proper recent version. And now you know mate 🙂 your curiosity is itched. I'm sure I've found a fragrance yet where I want a vintage, but it will come I'm sure, and my pink one I actually prefer the more toned down version there is now. Altho I'm sad I finished off every old bottle I ever had, I cudda made myself rich 😜

It's like two garlic cloves one (2011) in a pan on med heat with butter and the other (2018) sitting on the counter with cold butter smeared on it.. They both smell like garlic of course but the one simmering in the butter on the stove smells a lot better & mouth watering
With out a doubt. I'm same as you. I'll use the 2016 round the house and chilling with the mrs watching a film. But with ysl charging 70 ish for the new batch is abit harsh. That's why I spend that bit more for the better smelling vintage. Keep up the good work and I'll look forward to the next video
I have a 2021 batch 200ml and it's currently smelling very synthetic compared to the 2010 version. So I shall see if it macerates over the year's. I'll get back to ya..lol
Great vid a and love the comparison you draw to waking the wife up in the middle of the night 😱🙈 what a wonder is if you let your newer bottle sit and macerate and age by 8 yrs ish will it do the same thing? (That’s a long time to wait though lol)
Actually I would love to get dogshit performance out of LNDLH because then it would last far longer than any batch of it I smelled so far 😂 LNDLH probably never was a beast mode fragrance but my 2014 batch at least gives me a ~2 hours more than the recent batches and smells a bit denser 😅
La Nuit De L'Homme smells little too feminine for a grown man to wear as it gives off a powdery vague makeup like smell. I'm not in support of the modern push to emasculate men in order to make them more feminine.... Guy's smell it before you buy.

Hmm, not that I know of. You have to get them via ebay. So just make sure you check the sellers feedback and what else they sell etc.

I've got a 200ml 2011 batch and a 60ml 2013 batch and both are so much stronger and smell alot better than my 2016 batch bottle

I have 2013 January batch tester bottle..Is this same to vintage?
It's not worth it to get the more recent batches, the lovely cardamom lavender note is missing. It is now only a soft powdery, almost feminine scent.
