Spike and Buffy are still my favourite enemies to lovers as well. Really enjoyed your breakdown of the fascination we have with that trope and the reasons it doesn’t always work.
The moment you mentioned Spike and Buffy I knew you were writing a good enemies-to-lovers, haha! I still love them and I'm still sad about their ending. I understand what you mean about "bad" enemies-to-lovers, as I personally think some of what's out there today is simply glorifying abuse and bigotry, and there are some things I'm just not willing to ignore, but to each their own. This is to say that I'm happy to see you enjoying your creative projects after coming off of your dissertation. As someone close to finishing their bachelors in the next four months, I dream of the day I don't have academic pressure on my back to enjoy my creative writing projects again, haha. Lovely video!❤
I love your videos! They always have a relaxed vibe, even when you were stresssed out. Did you do any courses on creative writing or anything else that helped you with how to write a novel?
I recently went through the Reedsy How to Write a Novel course, and have been drawing on some of the lessons there for help! I did partner with them for some Instagram content, so I have a discount code if you're interested in checking that course out for yourself... I also studied creative writing as an undergrad a bit, which I have definitely been grateful for during my creative projects now! But until I manage to actually finish a novel at a quality I feel proud of, the jury is still out on just how well any of these things have worked for me haha
I have written one other complete romance novel draft, and several other drafts that I only made it about 30,000 words into before leaving behind - those will never see the light of day, but they were great practice! I'm hoping the project I'm working on now will turn into the first novel I publish. I'm not sure what the page count will end up being, but I'm aiming for around 80,000 words and around 25 chapters. But things might change as I work through writing this first draft!
I definitely will make a video about that at some point - right now I'm mostly focused on just adjusting to post-PhD life 😅 But no, I'm not going to be pursuing a career in academia. My hope has always been to move into creative writing after the PhD, and so I'm working towards that now!
I have a home office! My partner and I both work from home so we have an office space that I have decorated to be as cozy and full of books as possible :)
Loving your videos so beautiful how you create them and I enjoy seeing the process
love these videos! Excited to see many more!
thanks for watching! ☺

12:16 I'd forgotten how rough looking some of the Buffy creature effects and makeup looks nowadays with the scale up resolution 😄 Poor Adam
The CGI sometimes makes me laugh out loud haha Adam looks roughh but still 1000% better than the mayor-as-snake 😂
How many chapters is your Romance Novel going to be and how many pages? Is it your first Romance novel or have you written other novels before?

Hey! Can you do a video talking about life post PhD? Are you thinking about entering academia?
I definitely will make a video about that at some point - right now I'm mostly focused on just adjusting to post-PhD life 😅 But no, I'm not going to be pursuing a career in academia. My hope has always been to move into creative writing after the PhD, and so I'm working towards that now!
Do you have a room/space for reading? cool. looks cozy.
I have a home office! My partner and I both work from home so we have an office space that I have decorated to be as cozy and full of books as possible :)
Is it your full-time job :) Any advice to not compare yourself with other writers?
