Alto to premium SUVs all the cars are having discounts you might wonder it is common to give discounts for pushing the sales of slow moving cars.
But discounts are given for caars like xuv700 which is already having good demand.
Also all these discounts are not from dealer end it straight from car manufacturers itself.
Now if you are one of the few people who are curious to know why there are so many discounts being offered, well, then you have come to the right place.
There is not one but a few different reasons behind these heavy discounts on popular cars, so without any further delay here’s the explanation.
Coming to the most important reason behind these discounts, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has reported that there is an unsold inventory of 6 to 6.5 lakh units. This total inventory has been valued at around Rs 60,000 crores. This surplus has been accumulating over the past few months, stated the federation.
In just the last two months, an increase of 77,000 units has been noted. Also, it was reported that in May 2024, dealer inventory stood at 4 lakh cars worth Rs 44,000 crores. The industry is currently experiencing its highest inventory levels in history, with stock levels ranging from 62 to 67 days
Demand & supply:
What has also been noted is that despite the efforts from automakers to stimulate demand through hefty discounts and promotional offers, the overall sales in the country have remained sluggish.
In June 2024, total wholesale dispatches grew by 4% to 341,000 units. However, the actual vehicle registrations stood at 281,600 units. This has highlighted the significant gap between supply and market demand.
Recent price hike too much:
The data for the top 10 models with the highest percentage discounts for June 2024 shows that discounts have increased in response to inventory build-up in anticipation of the festival period. Car prices had significantly increased in the past, which has adversely impacted demand growth even though SUV sales are holding up."
Over the last few months, banks have also become more cautious in their lending practices. They are currently favoring customers with high credit scores. Now the direct impact of this has resulted in reduced overall demand for new vehicles. Additionally, this reluctance to lend, coupled with high-interest rates, has deterred many consumers from purchasing new cars.
So do i need to consider this as a opportunity if you have already decided and planning to buy this is the right time and go ahead.
But if you are considering a car purchase just for discounts you can hold for much more discounts and anything can happen which the global auto cues are not so good.

But in spite of metro's existence ,last mile connectivity is non existent, particularly for family consisting of women, senior citizen,kids , pregnant woman moving out of house in flood prone city dependent on public transport is a logistical and safety nightmare, adding to the pyre unreliability of bus timings ,nil safety compliance of govt bus quality(I have seen seats coming loose from their fixtures mid way,rusty protusions near foot rests ) and over crowding of buses has left us no choice but to buy a 4 wheeler despite the huge chunk of it going to tax

Car prices are gone up . I bought my first car for Rs 3.76 lacks seventy six thousand . Wagon R in 2010 and indigo ECS FOR 6.70 lacks in 2013 and Renult Kwid for Rs 3.75 lacks.in 2018 January. But the same cars now double the cost. But our salary never goes double the amount. More over in 2010 the petrol cost was 57 and now 107. Unless the central government reduce the tax , it is not possible to buy . If the kwid remains the same cost means i will buy new car.

People are preferring SUVs over small cars. Also, Manufacturers are not focusing on the safety of small cars and not providing additional features. Only feature rich models are sold based on advanced booking whereas the rest of the cars are not moving. All these offers are applicable only for slow moving models.

Yes it is not wrong that buying a car. But to see the maintenance and is very difficult to manage if supposed to get the same damaged while going out or any other repair etc. very expensive one. Nowadays people's just thinking if we have a car then only a status in the society. Very bad thoughts. Those days say about 60 years back or little earlier we can see a car with a doctor, mirasdar or a vakils house only. But nowadays you can see not less than 16 cars in a small street house owners. And according to my knowledge just one or two owners taking out their car going out say atleast two or three times in a week or a month. But most of other cars just kept on the car parking duly covered with the respective cover. Life is to enjoy but should have a principle. In fact we have a good car with us and using only if needed and of course it will not stand idle. We bought only after a reasonable earnings. But nowadays I have no idea many have a car how they are able to buy the same. But to maintain the same. Plenty of cars in the market and better to go on second sales with good condition.
