Jankiest, crappiest, FUNCTIONAL belt sander. There's an old saying - "If it's stupid but it works, then it ain't stupid." Nicely done brother!

Oh yeah, and the belt sander may be "janky" but it works! That's all that matters. Necessity is the mother of invention right?😂 You did good man.

Hay as long as it meets your need of what you want to do with it that's what matters right. Yeah it would be nice to have the nicer purpose built tools but when you can't afford them one makes due with what you can make. I would suggest that you try making the sander base out of 3/4"ply and predrilling and both glue and screw the piece together. it would suck for the stand to come apart when you are working on sanding something for a guitar and have it crash around and in to your piece you are working on.

Thanks Robert, and that is kinda the plan, see how it goes, and if it works well, make a more sturdy base 😀

I have a very similar home made router table. One addition I made was a couple of cross members at the base of the feet to clamp it to the worktop. Last thing you want is to be chasing it across the bench, or the trouser browning situation of it starting to tip. I bet you'll find more and more uses for that sander now it's mounted, sanding router scratches from end grain will no longer be a hateful task!

I recently got a great deal on the smaller Triton router. Made a sled for it a few weeks back and a small table like this is on my to do list. Bit easier with that router as it’s designed to work in a table, even comes with the height adjustment thingy. This will be my starting point, so thanks for sharing!

As long as you can count ten fingers n toes when you are done using the tools.. It is NOT in the janky category in my book. great Idea on the router table which is next on my list if I can get this PoS hand plane flat enough to function. It shouldnt be long as it is starting to pull full length curls of my test pieces of wood. Your idea will be the start of my table to keep things small but functional in my tiny apartment with ZERO storage.

Thanks brother, and if you haven't already, check out Gokmen Altuntas, him and Izzy Swan are my gurus for making simple, space saving tools 😀

@@gothridercreations I have been seeing ads recently about some place or site promoting thousands of simple wood projects. There were a few examples similar to my idea to make a seat bench on my deck that has storage for tools under the seat section but the back and sides fold out and up to make a work bench. Sort of like the ones that fold open into pick nick tables then back to a bench seat again.

They're functional. They work. What more could you want?
