I met Arvo Part a few weeks ago. He's a very kind man. Not afraid of silence. His questions have stayed with me.
What did he ask you?
his music is prayer... you can hear the devotion in it. where and how he uses the stillness and silences in his music, causes it to truly pierce you with it's fullness. it is like he has taken the silence/stillness of baptism... that moment when you must hold your breath as you are fully submerged into the water... for that moment while you are under, there is no breath, you close your eyes, and you hear nothing.... therefore to be pulled up out of the water and reborn, *that* is the true sacred moment, and it is almost like Part has found a way to put it into his compositions.
+n/a n/a oh God thats beautiful what you said
+Sahajatara Blake thank you! i have always found that i 'hear' his music more with my Spirit than my ears... he is an incredibly gifted man and composer... it is not an easy thing to have your audience be able to hear your devotion expressed like this in your music, without it actually being 'Gospel' music. it is very subtle, yet very present. i have friends who are not really 'Spiritual' people who have even told me that they can hear what i am trying to explain. absolutely amazing man and composer.
I heartily agree !
I highly recommend the book about Arvo Pärts music: "Out of silence"
n/a n/a Absolutely, the man is touched by God. Everything about this is otherworldly.
Arvo Part, the Great Architect of the Great Basilicas of the Magnificence of the Silence
A blessing in the middle of the dark cloud that we are traversing as a painful human lot
This is a great emotive performance and a good recording. Credit to the Philharmonic and Maestro Lamberto.
Would love to hear this in a cathedral setting...eyes closed...absorbing. Breathtaking.
Arvo Pärt est un alchimiste qui transmute les belles musiques religieuses anciennes en or pur. Indépassable !
Alchimiste,
un vraie homme de Dieu?
Stunning, the anticipatory breath is an instrument unto itself
The young pope !
Who is the young pope if you don't mind me asking my friend?
a tv series with Jude Law playing the pope. Very good show, u should watch it
I had known Pärt and Vasks before the show but decided to revisit their music after I have watched 5 eps of the show. It's a good one!
First released with The Good Shepherd....another good flick.
Such a haunting piece this is. My heart breaks here 03:35 💔
Loveless brought me here!

Thank you Lenny Bellardo
Masterpiece!
Breathtaking
Using silence as an instrument.
understatement of the ear :-)
Each note gets its end in darkness, individually. There is a breathing. A mysterious breathing resurrecting from each collapses. Is the darkness enlightned - fiery in its deeper core ?

Looking at the sun,
the eye can't
support that,
and you think you look
into a stange dark circle,
but you know
that
is not the darkness,
because
the darkness
is something dead.
Absolutamente increíble
the Young Pope brought me here!
Les silences discontinus de Saint Silouane invoqués dans son monastère Saint-Pantéleimon.
the soul at prayer
“The Good Shepherd” (2006) brought me here.
Amazing
It makes me remember my passive senior high school time.
Jean-Claude Godard, Je te salude Sarajevo
Jean-Claude. XD
musique infiniment humaine
Divine .......
I even like this peace better than Barbers adagio for strings.
G. D. I agree wholeheartedly.
I find that Pärt’s melancholia is more redemptive in nature.
Knight of Cups
Tarkovski -Pärt
It must be

So peaceful music

Kui ei võta autasu võlga. Noodid kui nofrid, sümbolid noodikirjas, mis ei muutu elu ega surma möödudes, elu ja surm on mainos mida igavik naudib küündimatute mõistmatusena.
Someone always has to cough don't they? Fucking... Don't they?
Bad intro man
This is a really bad cover of Psyopus' "Siobahn's Song"
Are you serious?
