I never tried Goid-Hunting in a Python. I always used the Krait Mk ll. I love that ship. From day one the first ship I bought and saved up for for any kind of combat, and it felt like my own millennium falcon. The Guardian Fighters are sweet. The Javelin is my favorite more for obvious reasons lol
That is also a pretty good ship. I Have one that I used to use a long time ago. The python has almost no hull, I just use its superior maneuverability to avoid damage, and avoid the caustic. The Krait mk 2 is one of my favorite ships. I currently use mine for pve powerplay
I think the reason the shield less chief isn't working for you is you're running too hot and thus the goid can hit you more Easily and more often. That's because you mix the TV beam and your attack guns instead of using heat sinks. Don't get me wrong, against a cyclops or maybe a basilisk many things Can work and efficiency and fun don't always go together, so you do what you find fun, hmkay? but you'll find it way easier if you stick to what anti xeno guides by e.g. cmdr mechan here on UA-cam suggest. That is to use separate weapon groups for cooling and attacking. In your cooling group you have the Thermal vent modded beam and maybe a flak against swarms, you use this group whenever the goid has his shield up. When it's down and you attack it, you use the real guns. If you use 4 shards or gauss, the split them to use a c1 and c2 on one fire button and the other 2 on the other fire button, alternately firing them. This creates less heat. During your attack run you use heatsinks to keep you ideally below 20/25% heat and circle the goid at an orbit. the low heat and circling ensure he can not reliably hit you anymore. Takes a while to learn but will save your skin when you draw the ire of a medusa or Hydra.
Great tips for sure. I was just messing around with that chief, and was not taking it too seriously. it is also not the usual set up I use for it. I usually use three small guase and 1 advanced guardian shard and then use beam to cool, if I am being serious about it. even just messing around I killed allot of goids. been surprised how effective I have been with the python mk 2, being a hot build, and no hull. been killing allot of madusas with it. especially since it is a hybrid pvp/xeno ship
