Thanks for this tutorial! My grandma is turning 80 this year and dandelions are her favourite flowers so I'll try making a painting like this for her 😊
Happy 80th to your grandma! A handmade gift is always so special 💖💖
❤
Happy 80th Birthday to your grandmama!! I know she'll love whatever you make for her.
Wow! very cool. Can't wait to try it 😊
That was so wonderful to watch! I've never seen Dandelions created like this in a painting, and I cannot wait to paint one myself. Thank you for this lovely idea.
Thank you so much! I learnt of this technique as a kid but never really used it. I believe a lot of people use the same technique 💖💖
So beautifull❤thank you😊

Beautiful!
Thank you so much 💖💖
Thank you, love the Dandelion on green background. I plan on trying it. ❤
Thank you! But I didn’t use a green background? Hope you have fun trying it out anyway, always welcome to use green! 🥰💖
The single dandelion you did with salt
@marcialinico7558 there’s around 10 dandelions I did, and none of them I used green. I used a black brown colour for the centre 😊
@@BlissOfColours I’m so sorry, I scrolled through your paintings. I love your style and saw quite a few I’m going to try. I follow a few watercolor artists. I was on your page, and somehow it must have morphed over to someone else. My apologies. 😟
@marcialinico7558 haha all good! I got really confused on where I used green and scrolled through my whole video looking for it 😅
that is beautiful
Thanks so much 💖💖
Joy to watch, thank you. Going to try this.
Thank you! 💖💖

Thanks so much 💗💗
Simply beautiful ✨👌🏽
Thank you 💖💖
Absolutely gorgeous, thank you for showing us!
Thank you! Hope you learnt something new 🥰
@@BlissOfColours I did, thank you! I'm just trying it out now, but what is the way you removed your salt, do you wait till it's dry and shake it off?
@@dilemmixfor this piece I did wait for it to dry and then just shook/brushed it off. If you can see the effect quite early on you can use a hair dryer and dry it before the salt over does itself. I live in a dry environment so for me it was working a little too fast 🥰
So very very pretty.😊
Thank you so much 💗💗
Beautiful work ❤
Thank you ❤️❤️
I love this. I’m going to try it with my grandchildren. Thank you so much for sharing!🙏
Thanks so much! Hope you have so much fun painting this 💖💖
I love it, thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching and supporting 💖💖
I love u idea
What kind of salt did you use? Fine salt or kosher?
I just used the cheapest table salt. I would say it is fine salt 🥰 I don’t think we have kosher salt readily available here in Australia (?)
@BlissOfColours in America they call it kosher/coarse or something like that. Here in Italy we call it big salt but basically is just bigger crystals. I will try with fine salt then, thank you so much for your help
@@bert422 ahh I see, thanks for the insight! I only use fine salt at home so I have never tried larger, more coarse salt. Feel free to try it out - I think it gives a slightly different effect 😊
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊💗
I’m going to try this with my group
Such a fun piece to do together 💕💕
Beautiful
Thank you 💕💕
Wow! Its actually so pretty!!🌼 I would try painting this in my sketch book!🖌📒
I will surely let you know if it turns out good!! 😄

Thank you so much! Definitely let me know how it goes ❤️🥰
@@BlissOfColours most welcome!!🤗 And yes I would for sure!!🌟

Thanks so much for sharing. I can't get this to work- any tips on what I may be doing wrong? I just end up with salt stuck to my paper, perhaps a very slightly mottled effect around the edges but none of the gorgeous colour absorption you're getting. Using cold pressed paper and liquid colours. Table salt. Maybe I should try sea salt? Thanks for your time.
For some reason this piece worked really well, and one I did straight after with different paper didn’t (the rainbow background video on my UA-cam). I also tried this technique months later and it didn’t work. I used table salt this first time and it was new and fresh. Perhaps moisture got in months later. I haven’t tried liquid watercolours but perhaps it’s too smooth and watery so the salt won’t be able to draw water nicely. I’m not a professional but this is what I observed when I experimented 🥰
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Do you have a link to the type of paints you have used, please? I think the ones I have used are called liquid? They are squeezed out of individual tubes? I think there may be solid water colours too, are these the kind you use? Sorry for all the questions- I really appreciate your help!@@BlissOfColours
@sarahamos50 I don’t have a link but I used Paul Rubens pan paints (not tubes) here. Tube paints should be the same as pan paints as you can squeeze them into pans, but I guess it really depends on the brand too. I have shown a swatch/unboxing of the Paul Ruben paints somewhere on my channel 😊
@@BlissOfColours thank you! I will look them up 💚
@@sarahamos50Tube paints are generally the same as pan paints, but in tubes lol. Most (not all by any means), professional artists prefer tubes, because they can't get the quantity and consistency they want/need with pans. But they often fill pans with the tube paints. Liquid paints and inks come in bottles and will clearly state they are ink or liquid paint. Re the salt, the colours/pigments make a difference to the outcome; that is to say, it depends on which one you choose, as to how successful you will be. It takes a little practice, trial and elimination to find the best combinations. I also found that a mix of table salt and sea salt flakes works best. And getting the timing right for when to apply the salt. If you apply it too soon it tends not to work too well, but if you apply it too late, that's no good either. There's no magic formula, it's trial and error. The main thing is to have fun whilst exploring! Hope that helps.
Very pretty😍
Thank you 💕💕
Thank you!
Enjoy!! 💖💖
Its very pretty. Please, when should i remove the salt ? Is it at the end of painting?
Thank you! I do mention in the video that you remove it when you already see the pattern you want. This will depend on your environment and a lot of other factors, but for me it was around 5-10 mins 🥰
Muito interessante e bonito.
thank you ❤❤
I really love it! Thank you for sharing with us. May I know, can I use the pink salt?
Thank you! I haven’t tried with pink salt so not sure but I assume you could 🥰
I saw the brand brushed but curious what size you used to make the stems and fine lines thx ❤
I think I used a size 2 brush. I only own two sizes, 2 or 4 but both quite versatile in making thin strokes 💕
This is lovely, but why did you use such a small brush on the background?
Thank you! 💖💖 I need to make a disclaimer now that everyone is asking 😅 i did mention in the video I’m pretty sure that I don’t own a bigger brush. I actually own that many art supplies. However I never recommended to use the small brush. I still shared this video as there may be people in the same boat. I still encourage people to try and paint even if you don’t have that many art supplies 🥰
wath kind of salt do you use ??? I do not get this effect with the one I use thanks !
I just used fine table salt but there a lot of other factors that can affect the result as I have mentioned in other comments 🥰
pretty, but what with the small brush at the beginning? It makes the color very uneven.
Thank you! 💗 I mention in the video I don’t own a bigger brush 🥲 I actually don’t own a lot of supplies, but I still post these videos to help out those who may be in the same situation! You don’t need all the fancy supplies to be able to paint these little pieces 🥰
Just regular table salt?
I used regular fine table salt for this piece 🥰
I don’t see the size number of brushes you used. #6,8,?
Just updated for anyone who sees it in the future, but for the proper brushes I used size 5 and size 2 🥰
I have tried to recreate this several times on different types of paper but the salt doesn't seem to extract as clealy as yours.. I wonder if it's my paint.. I haven't given up trying yet lol.
I’ve done the same and found that fresh salt works better than ones that have been sitting on the shelf too long! I also tested some different brands of paint and found that some worked better than others. Same with different colours so it’s all trial and error 🥰
@@BlissOfColours Thank you, I have started testing different things and it's fun to experiment!!
And that’s how you learn!! Being self-taught myself, I always try figuring things out myself and it’s super rewarding when it works out ☺️💗
How do you remove the salt, is it not melted? Is is regular tablesalt?
Just brush it off once the work is dry (either dry with hairdryer or air depending on effect). It’s just regular salt 😊
I love u girl
Is it special paint or salt. Mine didn’t turn out😢
I had this issue when I tried again too. Some colours and brands of paints work better than others. Also some paper works better than others. I also used table salt the first time (which was this video). The salt was fresh and hadn’t already absorbed moisture from the sitting in the cupboard too long. There’s a lot of trial and error. Let me know how it goes 🥰💖
@@BlissOfColours 2nd time a charm.. it was fun and I’ll do it again. Thanks
Yayyy!!! My first time was good, second and third not really once I changed materials haha. I’m glad you worked out what works best for you 🥰💖
Lovely 🩷💜💙
Thank you kindly 💗💗
Lovely result, but looks as if the brush used was too small.
Thank you! Yes at the beginning the brush was indeed too small. I think I mentioned that. It’s all I have. But I still use it because perhaps some of my followers also do not own much, and that is ok, you can still paint with what you have 💖💖
Not certain what I did wrong, but the salt didn't do a darn thing😢
That has happened to me too and from what others have said and what I tried out was that it could be the salt grains you are using are too small, try a different brand of paper and paint, and the paint can’t be too wet or too dry when putting the salt. It worked really well this first time I did it but it also didn’t work as well when I tried months later so it could be an environmental issue too
@BlissOfColours it was Windsor Table Salt, it wasn't that fine of a salt, next time I'll try Kosher. As for the environment, well we are in dry weather with wild Canadian fires. My paper was dallarama watercolor paper certainly not the most expensive & quality product, so that paper must have been the culprit. I'll have to try with some quality stuff. I was killing time painting with my son, so I took what was on hand.
Thanks for the tips🥰
I’m not familiar with brands in Canada or the US. I’m from Australia and used home brand table salt I believe (it was new and fresh). I tried with expired salt and also that same table salt but months later (I think moisture got in) and it didn’t really work. It was also quite dry that day (Aus is quite dry in general). I also tried a top brand paper (see my rainbow dandelion one) and it didn’t really work as well. Overall a lot of experimenting I guess. Hope you are staying safe in the wildfires ❤️
@@BlissOfColours Hi from my experience it is also the colours pigment that effect it - which pigments did you use?
@@Petraskonst Yes different brands of paint worked better than others for me. I used Paul Rubens here and it worked :)
Beautiful!
Thank you 💕💕
