If the players are doodling with the ball at the corner flag, then there is nothing illegal about it, and the other team has the opportunity to prevent it. But all this stuff like keeping the ball, throwing it away, faking injuries ecc. should definitely be punished with a blue card.

@@Blueclues16 They had received a yellow card already during the match. If they receive another yellow card in the next matches, they would miss the next match after the second yellow card. But if they received a red card, they miss the next match, but the first yellow is deleted. They did this because they were already qualified for the next round, so they prefered to miss those players in the last match of group phase rather than having the risk of losing those players in an eliminatory match.

here's the solution: don't add minutes because of fouls/ goals etc. Just stop the time at every goal/ injury. And then the most important thing: after minute 85 stop the clock every single time the ball is out of bounds or somebody is injured etc. Problem solved.
You need to understand that this sport is also played on low budget with just the arbiter doing everything, the time on the arbiter watch on the wrist is the only reference the arbiter can have, you cant tell the arbiter to stop the time on his watch for every single infraction and every single little thing.

He wanted them to get red cards because they already had yellow cards from earlier in the group stage, and more cards meant that they were going to get suspended for the next match. Here's the thing though, they didn't care about missing the next match because it was the last group stage match and they were already winning their group, and those suspensions were going to clean their records and avoid missing a more important match

Reward timewasting and complaining against a ref with a straight red card, and you will see how many players truly wanna play the game as it should be...
I feel like you should be able to bet a red card on VAR. Say Player A falls over dramatically in front of Player B, but Player B signals that he didn't touch him. Player A says to the judge "That was a hard foul, he pushed me violently, check VAR." Judge would ask Player B "Did you push him?", giving Player B a chance to admit to a yellow card, if Player B hadn't already signaled that he didn't touch him, but since he did, judge instead goes straight to check VAR, and whoever is lying gets a red. After a few weeks with a lot of pauses and a lot of red cards, I think everyone would stop pretending to be pushed, or pushing and hoping to get away with it, or pretending they weren't the last to touch the ball before it went over the sideline, or otherwise lying to the judge about what happened, so the judges won't be bombarded with conflicting reports from both teams all the time.
Thing that gets me is the ref goes and books people but never adds any extra time on for the time wasting, so there is no deterrent.
