Jesus started the Catholic Church! No such thing as the "Roman" Catholic Church. Prots threw that label at us!
No he did not, once you can lose you're fear of being mislead and gain wisdom and understanding you can clearly see Jesus himself said he was the way the truth and the life that no man can come to God but through him not the Catholic church or any other denomination, truth and spirit not some man made pagan traditions.
@@ch1il986you need to read history of the first century and what happened to his apostles
@@ch1il986 Wow, you say that so emphatically! As if you actually know the Truth! But the truth is, you don't know the Truth. And the Truth is Jesus Christ!
First of all, I have no fear of being misled because I know the Catholic Church is not misleading me in any way. Some bad Popes may have mislead some people and have been very bad examples of what it means to be Christian, but we know who the bad Popes are, which were very few; only 8 out of 266 Popes in total since Simon Peter, our first Pope.
As a Catholic, I know that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life! I also know that Jesus build His Church on Peter, the rock, and the first Bishop of Rome, also called the Pope.
Truth and wisdom have been granted to the Catholic Church who is led by the Holy Spirit. We have no man-made traditions. All the Traditions that have been passed down from the Apostles are Sacred Traditions.

.
So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.
~ 2 Thessalonians 2:15
.
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.
~ 2 Thessalonians 3:6
.
Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you.
~ 1 Corinthians 11:2
.
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
~ 2 Timothy 4:2-4
And if you want to only go by what the Bible says, you are sadly mistaken. Because Jesus Himself is the Truth. Jesus Himself is the Word. You anti-Catholics always want to call the Bible "the Word" as if Jesus can only be contained solely in the Bible. Yes the Bible is "the Word of God" but Jesus Christ is the actual WORD.

~ John 20:30-31
.
Now there are also many things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
~ John 21:25
@@ch1il986 and by the way, the Catholic Church is not a denomination!
You need to understand word etymology and the meaning of words. So you have to understand the meaning of the Greek root word for Catholic. The root word for Catholic in Greek means, "on the whole."
The word denomination just means "a part of" something whole. So since the Catholic Church IS "the WHOLE," it cannot be "a part of" something else, and therefore cannot be a denomination.

There is no ‘legend’ as you claim. From time to time the catacombs under St Peter’s Basilica are opened to the public, where you will find in Latin, this person is “buried near Peter”. Then one tomb says, “here lay the bones of the Apostle Peter”.
If not in Rome, tell me then where Peter’s bodily remains are entombed.
@@OzCrusader Like you, I don't know.
Jesus changed Simon's name into "Kephas" to align the new pontificate with the old one then led by "Kaiphas". This name should actually be considered the same as Kephas. But what really matters is the authority to teach and speak on behalf of God, and Peter-Kephas-Catholicism does exactly that.
I think you're getting confused a little bit with the Aramaic word and the English translation of that Aramaic word that is used in the Bible.
It's actually Kepha. No S at the end. The English that was used in the Bible was Cephas with the S at the end. Just a little FYI. 😊👍🏼🙏🏼
Jesus Christ started the Catholic Church and entrusted it to Peter, the first Pope. The reason that Rome was its center is that Rome was the worldwide center of everything in those times, so it was logical to be the Church's headquarters.
That is just blasphemy
@Ch1il1986 I think you need to look up the word blasphemy in a dictionary. I think the word you're probably searching for is heresy, which it's not.
The reason that that Rome came to have a preeminence of authority in the church, was that Peter and Paul built up the church there, but also because they shed their blood there and Peter was Bishop there for 25 years.

No Peter did Not start the Catholic Church. Jesus did, with Peter as the Head of his Church.
Wrong. As a Catholic, I can confirm that Jesus Christ Our God and Saviour is the Head of His Mystical Body, the Catholic Church. The Pope, successor to Peter, is Christ’s vicar (representative) on Earth, just as Eliakim (God raises or God establishes) was King David’s prime minister, with the keys of the kingdom.

I think he's talking about the papacy being passed on down to our current day. You can find the earliest Christians enumerating a list of popes from Peter himself down to their generations. UC Irenaeus, for example, doing this in the third century, and Augustine still tracing them down to his day in the 5th century.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial Oh.

Just because Christ had a Church in Rome does not make that Church a catholic church. It simply makes it Christs Church in Rome, like the one in Corinth and Laodicea etc.
There is no definitive historical proof that Peter was ever in Rome.
Jesus changed Peter's name to "rock"
Jesus did not change Jesus name to "the rock"
The Rock was and still is Jesus Christ.
The keys Jesus gave to Peter are the exact same keys Jesus gave to all of his Apostles and, in fact, to everyone in the upper chamber on the day of Pentecost.
The "keys to heaven" are the keys to an individuals salvation.
Peter was crucified in Rome. Both the original St Peter's Basilica and the current St Peter's Basilica are built over his grave. They have Peter's bones. Also, you should note that the "Vatican" is called that because it was built in the vatican necropolis which is were Peter was buried

In Mt. 16:18-19, Jesus makes Peter the head of the church. He calls PETER rock, not himself. He even changes his name from Simon to Peter, which means "rock." Complete coincidence? He could have changed it to anything but he changed it to a name which means Rock. Jesus even calls Simon the Rock at other times as well like in Jn. 1:42 as did Paul. (Cephas means Rock).
Also, Jesus intentionally traveled with the apostles hundreds of miles to Cesarea Philippi to do this, where there is a huge 500 foot rock. That is the exact spot that Jesus changed Simon's name to Rock and said that you are the rock upon which I will build my church. And at this very moment he gave him the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven giving him a primacy of authority.
Name changes are significant in Scripture. When Jesus changes his name from Simon to Peter, it symbolizes a change in status and a change in mission (like Abram to Abraham and Issac to Israel, etc). Peter was receiving a special call to be the head of the church which is why he alone singularly received the keys of the kingdom alone. The keys come from Isaiah 22 and symbolize the primacy of authority over the whole household of God.
We agree Jesus is the ultimate rock, cornerstone and foundation of the church. Some people say that Jesus is the rock so Peter cannot be. But two people can be the same thing in different ways. For example, in Ephesians 2:20, it says the apostles and the prophets are the foundation. But in the book of Revelation, it says Jesus is the foundation. It's not a contradiction, it's just different understandings. Jesus is the ultimate rock and cornerstone, but he clearly made Peter the head of the church when he gave him the keys of the Kingdom and a special authority. Thus, the Church is built on Peter as Jesus said, but he is the ultimate cornerstone.
This response is written before watching, to see if I get it right.
No, Jesus started the Catholic Church. Peter was appointed it's first earthly headship, later referred to as Pope.
I hope I got it right. Now onto watching the video.

Doubters? PETER as Shepherd and first Pope: Scriptural evidence and the structure of the primitive Church make it absolutely undeniable that Christ chose Peter and that Peter was first among the twelve. Depending on the translation, Peter is mentioned 195 times. The closest is John (the beloved disciple) at just 29 times. The rest even less. Consider:
Jesus entered Peter’s house. (Matthew 8:14)

Peter revealed the salvation of Gentiles to the Church at Jerusalem. (Acts 11:1-18)
The Angel told Cornelius to call for Peter. (Acts 10:3-8)
The Holy Spirit fell upon the Gentiles as Peter preached to them. (Acts 10:44-45)
At the empty tomb, the Angel said, "Go tell His disciples, and Peter." (Mark 16:7)

The vision of all foods being clean was given only to Peter. (Acts 10:9-16)
Peter's words silence the first council in Jerusalem. (Acts 15:7-12)
Paul went to Peter to affirm that his Gospel was not in vain. (Galatians 1:18)
Peter was given the revelation of the end of the world. (2 Peter 3:10-11)
Peter taught that Paul’s words were easily twisted. (2 Peter 3:16)
Peter taught that baptism now saves you (1 Peter 3:21)
And many other references. One may deny that Peter was primary, but it takes an amazing ignorance or denial of scripture and history to do so.
Thank you so much for all the references!! Love being guided exactly where to read passages for myself. Connections are far easier to make concrete when I can open my Bible and read from there as opposed to just a typed out quote, opinion and reference to a book.
Your posting is like a treasure hunt I get to embark on!
Thank you for the scripture based information about the role of Peter in following Jesus in building the Church.
Very comprehensive. Thank you 🙏
@@OzCrusader You are very welcome. There are more, but those are off the top of my head. I get argument even about those!
@@jimbomendoza3415 You are very kind.
The problem with this is the fact both historically and biblical, is that Peter was never in charge of the decision making process. It was decided by the ecumenical council of all the Apostles combined and in agreement together. This is evidenced by the first decision ever recorded by the church in Acts, where in fact, it was James, who presided over the meeting.
Peter was actually called out for his hypocrisy by St Paul on an occasion.
Read Acts 15. Paul and Barnabas made the trip to Jerusalem to get a ruling on dealing with the gentiles. Peter gave his ruling and James declared that Peter had spoken. I guess you don't read Scripture much
@ for the first 325 years of Christian faith there was no cannon of New Testament scripture.
So playing the ad hominem attack of being scripture illiterate is not a good argument.
Additionally trying to use one occurrence of scripture is not a sound basis for sound doctrine. For 1024 years there was no Roman Catholic Church. There was just the Church, one faith and one baptism. There was no Pope ruling them all.
In conclusion, in Acts 15, St Peter was speaking out to express his view on the opinion. He did not make the final decision. It was St James who made the decision by his decree of “ Therefore, it is my sentence that we trouble them not”.
And with that, it was they together who wrote letters to Antioch and all of the Churches for this decision to be carried out by all the Churches.
There was no Pope then, there is no Pope now.
@@richardounjian9270 No that's completely wrong.
You are correct.
@@ji8044 How am I wrong? Read Acts 15. It says what I'm saying
From the 12, how come ONLY Peter was ask "do you love me?" by Christ? Then, Jesus said to Simon Peter "Feed my sheep"
What does the Lord imply by HIS intimate discussion with Peter?
If you answer "nothing"; you are committing blasphemy because Jesus doesn't engage in trivialities.
YOU COULD only answer that the LORD is assigning or appointing Peter as a SHEPHERD
Fun fact, in that passage, when Jesus asks Peter to guide his sheep, the verb used in old greek means to lead. And the same verb is used about Jesus in Revelation, by the same author, John the Evangelist.
It was because Peter had Denied Christ THREE times saying he did not know Jesus , and Jesus had told Peter that Peter would deny Him 3 times before the cock crows ......so Jesus asked Peter do you love me ? and Peter said yes and Jesus Feed MY sheep , Jesus asked this THREE times and said 3 times
Feed MY sheep ., this was Jesus reinstating Peter ,
33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
@enigmainwater2493
All 11 denied Christ
Jesus specifically told Peter that Peter would deny Christ 3 times before morning ....... you seem to want to deny what Christ is saying.....
And yet he reinstated Peter to be the shepherd to feed the sheep and ten the flock. And to bring his brothers back and strengthen them when they fell away. He said Satan wanted to sift them all like wheat, but he prayed only for Peter, that Peter would bring them all back. And that's what we see in the New Testament, Peter being the leader. Peter is mentioned in the bible 195 times. Saint John, 29 times, St. James 16 times. Peter does first miracle and the first speech. Peter receives the revelations from God. He has a special relationship with Christ who trains him. Acts 15:11. Peter alone settled the dispute. Lists of apostles are always Peter and 11. Peter and the others. Peter and the Apostles. He is always listed 1st and Judas last. Luke 5:1-10: Peter chosen for ministry as fisher of men and alone receiving the Keys of the Kingdom of heaven from Jesus himself in Matthew 16
No, Peter was a part of the house of Israel, which is whom Jesus started the church with. They were in their last days, and eventually Matthew 23:36, 38 became fulfilled just a few years after the temple was destroyed when Jesus said it would. The church did not become universal until this was fulfilled.
Jesus founded his universal church. He is the King of the Universe.
Jesus started the Catholic Church on the Rock of Peter and the foundation of the apostles. If you don't have Peter then you don't have the church.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial Jesus never stated it is built on Peter. It was built upon what the Father revealed to Peter, 1 John 5:1 (Matthew 6:17-19). Your interpretation is totally based on presuppositions, fallible non-inspired sources rather than the bible itself. Please compare to John 1:40-42, where Peter confessed Jesus is the Christ the first time, and notice Jesus did not say upon this rock I will build my church. So you can not say it is built upon Peter nor flesh and blood.
Jesus said He came for the lost sheep of Israel. Gentiles were grafted in 3.5 years after His ministry, due to unbelief of the house of Israel. You are way way off.
Yes, he did in fact. He said "YOU are Rock and upon THIS ROCK, I will build my Church." That's also why he gave him the keys of the kingdom of heaven, giving him directly the primacy of authority over the church. I'm glad you brought up Jn 1:42 where Jesus again called Peter Cephas, which means rock. Peter is called Rock throughout the New Testament.
The Church is first and foremost built on Christ. He is the ultimate head and cornerstone. Not Peter. Yet, he made Peter the leader of the Church on earth and clearly built the Church on him and the Apostles.
Peter and the Apostles were teaching and preaching, correcting and reproving and making doctrines and ordinances before and after the Gentiles joined the Church. So, that's irrelevant.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial You did it again, stating something that the text does not say. This is what Matthew 16:18 it says in the Greek;
"I also
say
to you that you are Peter,
and upon this
rock
I will build
My church;
and the gates
of Hades
will not overpower
it.
The word "this" is near demonstrative, pointing back to what the Father revealed to Peter in Matthew 16:17. John points out some of the details of the confession, in 1 John 5:1. This did not occur in the first confession by Peter, in John 1:42. Jesus did not call Peter rock, He renamed him both times. The first one was based on flesh and blood by Andrew, and the other was based on what the Father revealed to Peter. What the Father revealed to Peter, is what overcame hades, Revelation 1:18. Flesh and blood does not overcome hades, it is Christ who overcame hades. Both times Jesus renamed Simon to Peter, because of the confession. But only once did Jesus say "upon this rock I will build My church". If you dare to compare the two passages, which I know you won't do if it does not fit your view, you will see it is based on what the Father gave to Peter, is what the church is built upon, that overcame hades. Peter never overcame hades, and the church is built on Christ's spirit, not Peter's nor the flesh and blood of Peters. Your interpretation is very shallow and only skin deep Bryan. Wish you also pay a little closer attention to detail, this might help you overcome your presuppositions, Bryan.
Peter was thr original OG rock..dwanne, step aside and know your role.
Lol.
No, because there was no Catholic Church until Nicea.
Before that, there were believers but no organization.
How is that possible when Catholic bishops from around the world were invited to the Council of Nicaea? The fact that the Catholic church already existed before the council is the reason why they could invite Catholic Bishops to the council. You might want to study some history. Read the writings of the earliest Christians, and you will see that they were Catholic hundreds of years before Nicaea.
Nicea was chaired by the Pope's representative.
@@fantasia55 That is 100% false and has no basis in history. There was no papacy at all until the 6th-7th Century.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial Precisely my point, the Bishop of Rome was just one more bishop at Nicea. Rome had no priority at all. The reason Nicea was called in the first place was to resolve all the localized divisions in beliefs. The process of creating the Biblical canon was also begun at Nicea, though it was a side issue. Please understand I didn't say there was no belief in Jesus. The point I made is that there was no "catholic" (the term means universal) church before Nicea.
Ji8044, it's 100% two. The pope sent two delegates, as with many Councils, and the Pope would ratify or refuse to ratify the Council based on the decrees that came out.
PETER MEANS ROCK 🪨 POPE MEANS SPIRITUAL FATHER
There is no doubt that the Catholic church is the early Christian from Jesus Christ himself.
The claim that Peter started the Catholic Church lacks clear biblical and historical evidence. A Christian community in Rome existed before Peter’s arrival, as shown in Paul’s letter to the Romans (Romans 1:7-15), suggesting it was founded by early Jewish-Christian converts, possibly from Pentecost (Acts 2:10). While tradition holds that Peter ministered in Rome and was martyred there, the New Testament does not describe him as the first Bishop of Rome or support the idea of a 25-year episcopacy. Early church leadership was shared among elders (presbyteroi) and overseers (episkopoi), reflecting a collaborative structure rather than centralized authority.
Jesus calling Peter the "rock" (Matthew 16:18-19) is interpreted differently. While some see Peter as the foundation, others view "rock" as his confession of faith or Christ Himself as the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20). The New Testament emphasizes Jesus as the foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11) and portrays shared apostolic leadership. James leads the Jerusalem council (Acts 15:13-21), while Paul spearheads the mission to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:7-9). Even Peter’s "keys of the kingdom" (Matthew 16:19) do not establish exclusive authority, as similar authority is granted to all apostles in Matthew 18:18.
The roles of bishops, priests, and deacons reflect later tradition rather than rigid New Testament mandates. Scripture mentions these roles (e.g., Acts 6:1-6, Titus 1:5-7) but uses terms like "bishop" and "elder" interchangeably (Titus 1:5-7, Acts 20:28). The early church emphasized the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:9), underscoring spiritual equality. A distinct hierarchy developed gradually over centuries.
Peter and Paul’s martyrdom in Rome elevated the city’s status, but its primacy arose over time due to political and historical factors, not solely their presence. Early Christianity recognized multiple centers of authority, such as Jerusalem, Antioch, and Alexandria. Rome’s prominence as a center of Christianity became fully established much later, with disputes over this authority contributing to the Great Schism of 1054.
The Catholic Church as it exists today did not emerge during Peter’s lifetime. The term "Catholic Church" first appears in Ignatius of Antioch’s writings (c. 107 AD), and its structure evolved after Constantine’s legalization of Christianity in 313 AD and the ecumenical councils. In summary, Peter was a key figure, but the idea that he founded the Catholic Church or served as its first pope is unsupported. Scripture affirms Jesus Christ as the church’s foundation (Ephesians 2:20, 1 Corinthians 3:11), with the apostles collectively spreading the gospel. The Catholic Church’s structure grew over time, shaped by tradition and historical development, not directly instituted by Peter.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bless you all!

The Bible says the true church has Bishops, priests, and Deacon's, and also the laying on of hands to pass on Authority. If your church doesnt have those three offices, its not the Church of Jesus.
Bishops include Timothy and Titus (1 Tim. 5:19-22; 2 Tim. 4:5; Titus 1:5).
Priests (presbyters) 1 Tim. 5:17; Jas. 5:14-15).
Deacons: Acts 6:1-6
Priests (Greek: presbuteroi) are also known as “presbyters” or “elders.” In fact, the English term “priest” is simply a contraction of the Greek word presbuteros. They have the responsibility of teaching, governing, and providing the sacraments in a given congregation (1 Tim. 5:17; Jas. 5:14-15).
You said the way that the Catholic church is today is not the way it was in Peter's lifetime. That's like saying that the way you are right now is not the way you were when you were a baby. The logic is flawed. What tree looks like the acorn it started from? What adult looks like the baby it was? And what church looks like it was 2000 years ago with 12 men in an upper room?
@@CatholicTruthOfficial
I agree that Peter did not start the Catholic Church, as Jesus Himself established it. My point was not that you made this claim, but that many Catholics-particularly those less familiar with Church history-do hold the simplified view that Peter "started" the Catholic Church or was essentially its founder under Christ. Such a claim, while common in lay understanding, lacks clear biblical and historical evidence.
While Jesus renamed Simon as Peter (Matthew 16:18) and gave him the "keys of the kingdom" (Matthew 16:19), interpretations of these passages differ. Some see the "rock" as Peter himself, others as his confession of faith, and others as Christ, the ultimate cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20). This diversity reflects longstanding theological debates, not ignorance.
Peter held a significant role, but early Church authority was shared. Jesus gave the power to "bind and loose" to all the apostles (Matthew 18:18). At the Jerusalem Council, James-not Peter-presided and delivered the final judgment (Acts 15:13-21). Paul also emphasized his equal authority to Peter in spreading the gospel to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:7-9). These examples suggest a collaborative leadership model rather than one centralized solely in Peter.
The New Testament mentions bishops, priests, and deacons, but these roles were not yet part of a rigid hierarchy. Terms like "bishop" (episkopos) and "elder" (presbyteros) are often used interchangeably (Titus 1:5-7, Acts 20:28). Moreover, the priesthood of all believers (1 Peter 2:9) highlights spiritual equality. The distinct hierarchy of bishops, priests, and deacons evolved gradually over centuries, shaped by tradition and historical necessity, rather than being explicitly mandated in Scripture.
While the Church’s growth can be likened to a tree growing from an acorn, much of what defines the Catholic Church today-its doctrines, papal authority, and traditions-emerged long after Peter’s time. The term "Catholic Church" first appears in Ignatius of Antioch’s writings (c. 107 AD), reflecting a developing sense of unity. The Church’s current structure, including the papacy as understood today, became more defined over centuries, particularly after Constantine legalized Christianity in 313 AD and during the ecumenical councils.
In conclusion, Peter’s role was pivotal, but the claim that he was the first pope or singular head of the Church lacks full biblical and historical support. The early Church was built collectively on the apostles, with Christ as the cornerstone (1 Corinthians 3:11). The Catholic Church as it exists today represents centuries of development, not a fully formed institution directly established by Peter.
Question: is (Romans 11:25-32) talking about the actual state of Israel or is it talking about the catholic church
It's talking about the new Israel, the Catholic Church.
If the New Testament is the fulfilment of the prophesies of the Old Testament, then Matthew ch 16 vs 18 must be the fulfilment of an Old Testament prophesy. The dream of Nebuchanezza in Daniel chapter 2 is the prophesy that is fulfilled in Matthew ch 16 vs 18. Have a go and read it for yourself. Remember that the Oxford thesaurus of the English language says that rock and stone mean the same thing.
Actually Scholars say that Matthew 16:18 is quoting Isaiah 22 and is a fulfillment of that office. He received the key of authority over the House of David and Jesus gave Peter the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven giving him a special Primacy of authority over the church.
2:18 petra ..... Petros .... they do not mean the same thing
They do mean the same thing. Male and female ending for the same word rock. Jesus calls Peter Cephas other places which also means rock. Jn. 1:42 for example.
The first members of the Church at Rome were women and children, so the Elders were women priests . At least until their sons grew up.
That's not remotely true in any way.
@CatholicTruthOfficial Look it up in a history of the early church. Or Google it! Are you that slow?
@CatholicTruthOfficial Get your head out of you but and look at the real history! There were women running the Church at Rome in the very early years as Elders which means priests. That means they gave Liturgy communion ect.
@@kennethprather9633 Where can I find that women were priests in the same sense as man?
@JanGavlas It basically says they ran the church as Elders. Meaning at that time They did most everything until about 200AD.
Women played an important role in the early Christian church in Rome, and their contributions were significant:
Paul's letter to the Romans
Paul mentions nine women in Romans 16:1-9, including Phoebe, Priscilla, Mary, Junia, Tryphena, Tryphosa, Persis, Rufus' mother, and Nereus' sister. Paul addresses the women as equals, and seven of the women are identified with ministry terms he uses for his male and female colleagues.
House churches
Women led as Elders house churches, including Grapte, who led a community of widows and orphans in the second century.
Financial support
Christian businesswomen, such as Mary of Magdala, Joanna, and Lydia, provided financial support.
Noblewomen
Wealthy and powerful noblewomen converted to Christianity in large numbers, and used their wealth and influence to benefit the church.
Schools, hospitals, and nursing homes
Women religious established schools, hospitals, nursing homes, and monastic settlements.
Peter did not start the catholic church: Peter was too busy preaching along with Luke and Paul, and died a martir, along with the apostles of Christ: the catholic church came along close to 300 yrs after the crucifixion of Christ, founded by Constantine in Rome!
There were over 30 popes before Constantine was even born. So Constantine did not start the Catholic church. You probably should read a history book. Jesus started the Catholic church and it's the only church that goes back to 2000 years.
and, Constantine resided in Constantinople, not Rome
300 years!😂😂😂. 75 years after Jesus ascended St Ignatius of Antioch attributed the term Catholic to the Church in AD 107! Listen, I can sell you a bridge for a buck!
@fantasia55 the catholic church lies about everything from Maryoligy to popeoligy They keep making things up as they go along! Constantine was the Roman emperor at the time of his founding the catholic church, some 300 years after Christ!
Richard, actually he just wrote about it. It was already widely used because he didn't bother explaining the term. He knew that people already understood what it meant. And he was a disciple of John the Apostle and learned from him directly.
No, he did not!! The Catholic Church is man made, it can no where be found in scripture by name or practice. Cardinals, Nuns, Pope, worship Mary, infant baptism, Rosary, Catholic priest......can not be found in the bible......
Yes, the Catholic church is man-made because it was started by Jesus Christ who is God and became man for us. So the God-man Jesus Christ started the Catholic Church. Praise be to Him!
If you're looking for the words that you mentioned in your comment to be found in scripture then you are in big trouble, because the word bible is not mentioned in scripture and therefore the Bible is wrong according to your logic. Praise and worship is not found there, or the rapture, altar calls, the sinner's prayer, the Trinity, and many other words. The teachings can be there even if the words are not. This is an elementary biblical understanding.
the word " bible " simply means book , the Greek term bíblos (βίβλος), , it also means , scroll or parchment
the words " Holy Bible " means Holy Book , the WORD , , yea the word bible is in the Bible - it is the Word of God , but catholics prefer tradition because it is easy to create or modify tradition to use in place of Scripture
You are stupid. You see words not meanings

It was started by Simon Magus. Not all Simons are actually surnamed Peter.
Said no historian ever. We agree with you that not all Simons are surnamed peter. On a Simon who Jesus changed his name to Peter which means Rock because he built the church upon the rock of Peter.
@CatholicTruthOfficial the Bible is clear that Jesus is The Rock. Who is Jesus upon which the true church is created, not Peter. Jesus said upon this Rock, I will build my church. Not that Rock. What are the difference between this and that.
In the Bible is also clear that Peter is the rock. We agree Jesus is the ultimate rock, cornerstone and foundation of the church. Some people say that Jesus is the rock so Peter cannot be. But two people can be the same thing in different ways. For example, in Ephesians 2:20, it says the apostles and the prophets are the foundation. YES!! This rock. He said to Simon, "YOU are rock ans upon this (same) rock, I will build my church. There is 100% no doubt that he changed Simon's name to rock in that moment to make his point while standing in front of a 200 by 500 foot Rock.
@CatholicTruthOfficial Peter is not the rock! Your Church is divorced from Christ. You try to use Mary as a mediator. You're on your way to hell! Jesus did not say upon you I will build my church. Which church would you recommend we all join?
@@wordforever117 Protestants will never give you an answer to that question. Protestants only become Universal when it comes to saying nonsense about Catholics, but once you ask them which church they should attend, they can't answer you with all confidence.
People can brag about Churches etc. But the big question is, is Christ in your heart? Christ told the woman in John 4:21-24, that God can be worshipped in Spirit and truth anywhere! Christ also promised that after leaving the Spirit was going to take over and the rest of the disciples were to be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). It is the preaching of Christ that produces faith that leads to people converting into children of God! We like Paul must know nothing else, except Christ and Him crucified (1 Corinthians 2:1-4). Any bragging about human characters is very vain!
We agree it's very important for Christ to be in your heart and to have a relationship with him. However, that's not all that's needed. You also need to have the church and be in the church that he started, which is the Catholic church. Remember that scripture states Christ is the head of his body, which is the church. So you can't have the head, Jesus, without his body, the church. If you don't have the body, you don't have the head. This isn't bragging, it's just truth.
@CatholicTruthOfficial Well! That's another gospel you are defining, nowhere did the primary witnesses preach that believe in the Lord and be part of particular Church to be saved, you become part of the Church because of your being saved. If the son sets you free, you are free indeed (John 8:36), being a child of God is something Jesus does for you upon receiving Him (John 1:12). Whether we use the Bible or the writings of early Christians in the first century, no one adds the being part of some Church as a precondition for getting saved. Even Philip after leading the eunuch to conversion and baptizing him in Acts 8, he allows this person to return to Ethiopia without any emphasis on some church.
We need Church for fellowship, learning from gifted teachers so that we grow both in grace and knowledge. This is also too clear in the first four chapters of Ephesians. Unfortunately, power hungry Bishops later on held on to Ignatius writings on the Bishop's authority to impose all kinds of things around the church. They use also Paul's teaching in Ephesians 5, cunningly to suggest that since the church is the body of Christ it can invent rules which if you disagree you are cut off from Christ. These are people who use the gospel selfishly to further their own personal aims. A true servant will be like John the Baptist, " He must increase, I must decrease."(John 3:28-30). In Luke 17:10, the Lord expect us to do his work without seeking personal credit!
I agree, the Church is important but it must learn its place. All authority belongs to Christ and in His authority we all act and not seek to load it over others.
@@mmbtalk Well, Paul even bragged that he went to the Third Heaven. jeez.
@mmbtalk Christ's Church is in Heaven, Christ is it's head, and we are the body. Anytime 2 or more of us gather in his name, he is with us.
Actually, they did. That's why we specifically said that Christ is the head and the church is the body. You can't have the head without the church. And in fact, the apostles, like Paul said that if you didn't follow all of the doctrines of the church, and you didn't listen to the teachings that they laid down, then you were excommunicated and kicked out of the church. The church is not whatever you want it to be.
We agree with you though that all authority belongs to christ, and it's Christ who gave his authority to the church and said we must listen to the church. Jesus said if you reject to the church, you reject him. Lk. 10:16, Mt. 18:15-18.
All throughout scripture, we see the church leaders teaching and preaching, correcting and reproving, and making doctrines and ordinances that the people had to follow if they wanted to be part of the church. They did this with the authority that Christ gave them.

Someone by the name of Peter could have started the Catholic church, but it wasn't the Biblical Peter the one that followed Jesus.
Jesus said to his disciple peter. "Peter you are Rock and on this Rock I will build my Church". Matt 16:18. But which church was Jesus talking about? Jesus never said it was the Catholic church, the Catholic church just inserted itself in what Jesus told Peter.
But the Bible does reveal the Church Jesus was talking about. Jesus himself is revealing to the apostle John his church, in Revelation chapter two.
The Church that Jesus founded was established in the province of Asia. Revelation 1:4...Not in Rome.
The church also have Seven names. Revelation 1:11...and the Catholic church isn't among the Seven names.
In revelation Chapter two. Jesus is judging and correcting each church one by one according to the 2000 years count down. The church Jesus founded have Seven names but it is one church.
The Bible also reveals the Church the devil founded in Revelation 17 and Revelation 18. And it's all bad news for the Catholics, I'm sorry to say.

Ey don't leave out John 6:66
You would have to prove that the Marriage is not one of the seven sacraments, and you would also have to prove that every Catholic is a vegan.
You just proved that you are ignorant of the Catholic Church.
Yes, there are many who departed from the faith like the gnostics. The gnostics forbid marriage because they thought it was evil and because they thought matter was evil. The scripture is talking about the gnostics. The Catholic Church doesn't forbid marriage from anyone. Anyone can choose to be married. If you choose to take a vow of celibacy with the priesthood, that's a choice also.
The qualification never says that you have to be married. It just says if you are married that you have to be the husband of one wife, not two or three or four. The Catholic Church follows what Jesus and Paul suggested, that those who serve the kingdom of God remain celibate. You can see that in Matthew 19 and in 1 Corinthians 7, for example. And we see this and the wisdom of this with Protestant pastors who have a 50 percent divorce rate, and 84% or more dissatisfaction rate by their wives and kids. It's really difficult to serve God full time in the kingdom and have a full-time family as well. Many Catholic priests are married, and they say how difficult it is.
The scriptures don't need to mention the Catholic Church by name since the Catholic church is the only one built on the rock of Peter and all the other Protestant religions are based on the Bible which is not only unbiblical, but there is no biblical model for it in the entire new testament. But what we do see is it teaching and preaching authoritative church, where the leaders of the church correct people, make doctrines and ordinances, and teach people what they need to know, and even excommunicate people. The Bible also talks about having bishops, priests, and deacons, and Protestants don't have these three offices meaning that they are not the true church.

You need to be more careful in what ur trying to say. All the apostles including St. Peter were founded by Christ through his Vicar, via direct, written or oral sub commissioning. After all, who ordinained St. Paul, 😉 take a guess (see Acts, Galatians)
We said that in the video. But Peter received a special calling and received the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven giving him a primacy of authority over the others.
@CatholicTruthOfficial we concur, but a distinction to setting up a physical church boundry in Rome under Petrine commission as opposed to the claim that Paul set the Church up on his own.
Boundary? There is no boundary. Confused at what that means. The Church is Catholic and Catholic means universal. It's a universal church not just a Roman Church. The reason why Rome was seen as a preeminent in the early Church was because Peter and Paul both built up the church there, shed their blood there, and Peter was bishop there for 25 years as the leader of the Church (along with his successors).
@CatholicTruthOfficial were talking past each other. Rome is a Petrine See by default that ultimately all churches came from the direction of Peter's strategy (via the Holy Ghost) and possibly what Christ himself directed him to-do. All is well, but remember Paul wasn't commissioned for a number of years after his conversion. Technically u could even say the Church of Rome started with the first converts at Peter's sermon in Acts 2-3. Those converts would have been given instructions from Peter and the Apostles on that day with authority to carry out the ministry. Thus Peter via the Holy Ghost founded the Church at Rome and ultimately all the initial places. (Otherwise u go down the road of Eastern Orthodoxy lol.) Peace be too u and may ur daughter and family be well.
@@CatholicTruthOfficial don't get caught up on the bondary part either. Yes we are aware (as well) where the phrase "roman catholic" comes from: Arch Bishop Crammer under Henry VIII who used it as a limiting term, to degrad the universality of the Church.

Jesus Christ is the way , the truth , and the life ! Jesus christ is THE ONLY MEDIATOR BETWEEN THE FATHER GOD , AND MANKIND ! Not Mary , or a priest , or a pope , or a pastor , or a vicar , or a canon , or a bishop or any other human being AMEN GOD BLESS
We agree that Jesus is the one unique mediator between God and man, and Catholics have taught that for 2000 years. However, that does not mean people cannot pray and intercede for us and visa versa. Don’t you ask your friends, family, and pastors to pray for you? Why? If asking Mary and the Saints to pray for us interferes with the mediation of Jesus (even though that’s not what that means), then by the same logic, we cannot ask others to pray for us and we cannot pray for them if they ask. A mediator is someone you put between you and God. So it's a false dichotomy.
The truth is that according to the Bible, 1 Tim. 2:1-4, praying for other people is a good thing that pleases God. It litterally says we can intercede on behalf of others. So, Jesus is not the only one who can intercede. We in the body of Christ are allowed to pray and intercede for each other without interfering with the mediation role of Jesus. In other words, our loved ones can pray to Jesus on our behalf and then he takes the prayers perfectly before the father. Likewise, Mary and the Saints also pray to Jesus on our behalf and he takes all of their prayers perfectly before the father. It's the same thing. If no one can pray for you without interfering with the role of Jesus, stop asking people on earth to pray for you too.
One mediator between Jesus and the father, but many mediators between Jesus and man as shown through out the bible
There’s no real evidence anywhere else in the bible that Jesus gave any more authority to Peter than the other disciples, only that one passage in Matthew. I just wonder if it’s a Roman Catholic invention.
Then you know the Bible very little.
If we’re talking about sheer quantity, Peter is mentioned more than any other apostle in the gospels.
@WeeJimmy82 can you tell us what chapter did Jesus talk about His plans for the Church besides telling it to Peter? Goodluck
Well, in Acts Paul and Barnabas made a special trip to Jerusalem to see Peter to get a ruling on dealing with the gentiles. Also, speaking of Biblical inventions we all know that Luther removed books from the Bible the he didn't like!
1) Isaiah 22: Position of the "Prime Minister" who was given the "keys of the kingdom" and stood in place of the King while he was gone. Same language that Jesus says to Peter when he gives him the "keys of the kingdom".
2) At the Last Supper, Jesus describes who is to be the leader among them as the servant leader. Jesus then turns to Peter and says that Satan has asked to sift all of you. He then tells Peter that when he comes back, he is to strengthen the others.
3) Matthew 17 when asked about paying a specific tax. Jesus asks Peter, "From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tribute? From their sons or from others?” And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook, and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel; take that and give it to them for me and for yourself"
4) Jesus asks Peter to feed his lambs, tend his sheep and to feed his sheep. Three different things for Jesus' flock. Again, calling him to lead them as a shepherd.
The idea isn't just based on the one passage in Matthew's gospel, but comes from a variety of places.
10/10 ❤❤❤
No. Jesus started the Catholic church with Saint Peter as the Rock. Both him and his faith was the foundation on which the church is built and still standing tall and strong.
Non of the apostles started the catholic church!!!!! Catholic church was started by Roman emperor….was good at first but then quickly went down hill! Jesus didnt start catholic church either. Stop lying!
You are correct that none of the Apostles started the Catholic church. It was Jesus himself. And we can find the writings of all the earliest Christians claiming to be Catholic long before Constantine and the Roman empire. So you need to pick up a history book because they were over 30 popes before Constantine was even born..

There is no such church that is the Roman Catholic Church. There is 23 churches that are in communion with the Latin Rite and the Catholic Church in Rome.
Roman Catholic Church refers to the Latin Rite, as you said. But it doesn't apply to the universal Church
You know your stuff 😁@@CatholicTruthOfficial
@@CatholicTruthOfficial The term Roman Catholic was first used by Puritans and Presbyterians in the 18th century;
Their aim was to establish themselves as the true Catholics.
@CatholicTruthOfficial British Protestants invented the term Roman Catholic Church, as an insult.
Christianity was in Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and India way before it ever reached Rome. It wasn’t even legal to practice in Rome until 387 AD. Paul wrote the “Book of Chanu” while in India, well before he ever went to Rome.
You shouldn't be making things up, there are people who might actually believe what you are saying. The Apostle Paul was never in India and the names Paul and Chanu/Chani are names of characters in the Dune fictional series.
@ so you think that Christianity was legal in Rome prior to 387 AD?
I’ve never seen dune and don’t care to. Chanu is very common sur name in India. And I am pretty sure there-are two Catholic Rites that are practiced in India: Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. Both these Rites are in full communion with the Latin Church

Not to wonder. There were at least 72 Apostles before the crucifixion.

Peter disseminated the gospel in the upper room at Pentecost to the gentiles. The result was the start of the church in an informal way. Paul joined in with him and others
Correct, Jesus started the Catholic Church on the Rock of Peter and the foundation of the apostles. But the church was started officially on Pentecost
False prophet. Deceiving and being deceived.
Lord Jesus Christ is a good shepherd of the sheep.
Yes he is. And he made Peter the shepherd for the church on earth. John chapter 21. And he also made him the leader of the church on Earth by giving him the Keys of the Kingdom of heaven, the leader under himself of course.
No, Peter did not start the Catholic Church. It was our Lord Jesus who started the Catholic Church, gave the command to His disciples in Mark 16:15, Luke 14:23, Matthew 28:19 when He said to them, "Go out into all the world and preach..."
And in Matthew 16:18, our Lord appointed Peter as head of His Church; "And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my Church, and ..."
Jesus said he will build HIS Church He did not say catholic
The Bible doesn't have to say Catholic explicitly because we Catholics don't hold to the doctrine of Sola scriptura. Ignatius of Antioch who was a follower of John the apostle called the Church that Christ established 'Catholic'. You guys need to learn how to use external sources.
Also if a word is not mentioned, it doesn't make it unbiblical. Words like Trinity or Bible are not mentioned but are important.
The word Catholic is Greek and means Universal.
Catholic church is pagan Jesus didn't start any pagan church period.
How do you know what Christ said? Are you saying every word Christ ever spoke during His public ministry is contained in the Bible?
John 21: 25 - "But there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written every one, the world itself, I think, would not be able to contain the books that should be written."
If you believe the Bible is composed of 66 books, where in the Bible does it say that? Answer: Nowhere. (And, please note: The Bible is composed of 73 books because that is the definitive teaching of the Church founded by Christ; namely, the Catholic Church.)
I think God the Father started the Catholic Church!!
I think you’re wrong 🙄
@OzCrusader It is God the Father who asked the Roman Govt to form the Catholic Church!!

There is no clear biblical evidence that Peter was ever in Rome, but Christian tradition suggests that he was:
Biblical evidence
The Bible does not mention Peter's trip to Rome in the book of Acts or the Epistles. Paul's Epistle to the Romans, written around AD 57, does not mention Peter, even though Paul knew him.
Christian tradition
Early church fathers, such as Irenaeus of Lyons and Ignatius of Antioch, wrote that Peter was in Rome. Church tradition also holds that Peter was martyred in Rome under the rule of Emperor Nero.
Other evidence
Some ancient sources, such as the Ecclesiastical History of Eusebius of Caesarea, suggest that Peter arrived in Rome in 42 and lived there for 25 years. Some scholars also believe that the Letter to the Corinthians provides strong evidence that Peter was martyred in Rome.
Excavations
In the 1950s, archaeologists excavated a tropaion, which was originally located in the middle of an ancient cemetery. Although no grave or bones were found, some believe that Peter was buried there.
However, some scholars have problems with the traditional account:
The flow of the story suggests that Barnabas and Saul were in Jerusalem when Peter was set free from prison.
Acts 12:17 could not possibly refer to Peter going to Rome in AD 42.
It's ok, there is plenty historical evidence that Peter was in Rome. And even if there wasn't, there is no requirement for the founder of the Catholic Church to reside in Rome.
