    One of very few videos on cleaning these carbs that shows the idle jet. Very thorough!

    Thanks for the video. Small learning curve makes it quite easy after the first attempt. Had a gummed up carb on a 6hp Tohatsu, despite draining the bowl over winter. Cleaned the main jet with a steel wire strand, which allowed it to start. But could not idle. As there is no jet to clean, but a circuit, I left it soaking in White Spirit. Morning after resulted in a telltale mucus residue at the bottom of the container. Voilá, runs like new.

    I watched this video because I have the newer version of this engine and my caburator was not working properly. Watching you disassembling this carburator made me see how easy it is to do it yourself. Now 2 hours later including buying the carburator cleaner and spark plug my engine is running as new ! thank you sir.

    Thank you for posting this video. I am the least handy person on earth and you helped me do this. I swear UA-cam is like that machine in the movie "The Matrix" that uploads information into people's brains. Great video!

    Thanks for reminding me of where all the TINY holes are !
    BTW, Set the float to be parallel with the housing when inverted.

    I see that you opened the airbleed-screw cover. Did you change the setting of the airbleed screw! Ritcher/Leaner?

    Thanks for the video. The bolt you unscrew at 5:30 is corroded on my carb. A bit broke off as I tried to loosen it. Do you happen to know how I can get a replacement part? Thanks!

      Go to Boats.net they have online parts books for Tohatsu by Year, Model, and Horsepower. Great illustrated parts breakdowns and part numbers.

      also stop using fuel with ethanol in it as it is the worse thing ever for a boat motor .....try and find a ethanol free fuel if can ...I know some time you have no other choice but if can use ethanol free fuel ....

      That bolt is actually a jet -The Main Jet.. The long skinny one he takes out is the slow jet. He's uses a tiny peace of wire to clean them out.

    Great video. My needle is stuck I unscrewed the top but it is not coming out. Is it possible to push it from the inside of the vent?

    At the 2:25 mark, something fell out when you pulled out the carb. What was it? Same thing happened to me today
    and I can’t find it and it’s driving me crazy. Thanks for your help I’m advance.

      I think it was the bushing that sits in the holes i the flame supressor where the 2 bolts goes through, that holds the carb with the flame supressor to the engine. They looks like a short piece of alu pipe. The right one fell out. If you cant find it, the motor will work just fine without it.

    The idle jet should be claened from the tip up (0,35mm), not from the side that you tried to . But I still like the video .

    • @jia810
      @jia810 3 роки тому +2

      Second that. That idle jet causes idle problem because the hole is so tiny and it is easily clogged. It should be cleaned with thinner wire.
