I remember playing this when I was 13, this is about the same experience I remember.
The best part for me is at 34:30 when they actually succeed but then for some reason think that they failed again and reload right when the CO is congratulating them. :-D
No they actually did fail, there was a part that was cut that this video didn't show where it shows them this scene and they think they succeeded, but it's revealed that it was only a "You did jack shit but the mission was a success" ending.
So they tried to go back and get the "good" ending to this mission.
