Wow, it’s really amazing. I’m a bassline guy, it’s the instrument that I pay more attention in general. But now that I read your comment I could listen to that smooth guitar, it’s pure finesse. The whole song is perfect
Two years ago, I was swimming and I drifted way too far in deep waters and I brought myself back to safety with the lyric "...have no fear". I was a grown ass woman at 37. That's the magic with music and art in general: each of us will interpret a piece of art in their own way and feel joy, sadness or whatever emotion: I motivated myself and gave myself courage to get to the shore, which has nothing to do with the song whatsoever. Yet... Thank you, RHCP!!!!
very very underrated album! Its just awesome one of my favorites. And this is my favorite chili pepper song. This song sums up the whole bands history. It got the pop thing, it got the funk, it got the flow, it has the psychadelic. Its the perfect chili peppers song!

2:05 I may be overthinking things but I think this little part says a lot about Anthony as a person and his friendship with Flea - most frontmen are constantly trying to be the center of attention, getting in front of the other members, pushing to the front to be in the camera lol. But he actually moved back and gave Flea the spotlight for no particular reason. Again I may be overthinking but that just seemed like such a sweet and true gesture.
Lots of people hate OHM because it doesn’t have john Frusciante. Whilst I also am a huge john Frusciante fan I don’t think the album is as bad as people say and this song is proof of that
Łukasz Ciepłuch Słuchaj. John Frusciante to wspaniały człowiek i też za nim tęsknię. Lecz Josh też jest według mnie Ok, bo nie wyobrażam sobie np. The Getaway bez niego.
I know this song since it was released in the 90’s and I always loved it. But today I listened with a powerful earbud and It instantaily became my favorite RHCP track. What a powerful energy! That bassline is insane, and all the construction of the song, a calm introduction before a smashing funky drop. Then another calm part, then the solo bass and the outro with the children singing together bringing more joy to the song. I can listen to it on repeat several times
The drumming on this is just perfect. The sound of the ghost notes and the bass drum!

Being an opiate addict and really struggling with it, has caused a lot of animosity with me and my family, as well as other things. I was just able to connect to every single lyric of that song. I literally sobbed. Thank you for your artistry Anthony and the rest of RHCP.
imagine being one of those kids dressed as the airplane in the music video back in the day what a life 😮❤ legends wonder where they're at now
Flea, the most badass bassist ever known to mankind.
Flea is the craziest, most badass would be chris wolstenholme for me.
les claypool is pretty crazy and bad ass as well
And the best kyioshi Manii
This song popped into my head randomly this morning ❤️
Incredible synchronyzed music: lyrics/vocal, guitar, drums, and the bass line, woooowwwwww, what is that?? Flea you are a monster!!!
2023 and still great to hear. I love these guys!
And I thought the RHCP started in the album Californication. I'm sorry. But No. There are more things to explorate in the story
OOOOH THAT BASS IS SO GOOD
I appreciate Dave more and more as the years go by, he has mad style and is a great guitarist
Word, " falling into grace with you" on this album has a great gutair opener
dave such an underrated guitarist gotta respect him
Underrated album, underrated track, one of the best.
I'm not a huge RHCP fan, but this bass line KILLS!!! 🤘
"Pleasure spiked with pain" - such is life
Still sounds great in 2025 a great song of what I consider to be a very underrated album long live the Chilli Peppers !
*Best rhcp album end of the story*
Amén
V[Chorus]
I like pleasure spiked with pain
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Songbird sweet and sour Jane
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Pleasure spiked with pain
That motherfucker's always spiked with pain
[Verse 1]
Looking in my own eyes, hey Lord
I can't find the love I want
Someone better slap me
Before I start to rust
Before I start to decompose
Looking in my rear-view mirror
Looking in my rear-view mirror
I can make it disappear
I can make it disappear, have no fear
[Chorus]
I like pleasure spiked with pain
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Songbird sweet and sour Jane
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Pleasure spiked with pain
That motherfucker's always spiked with pain
[Verse 2]
Sitting in my kitchen, hey girl
I'm turning into dust again
My melancholy baby
The star of Mazzy must
Push her voice inside of me
I'm overcoming gravity
I'm overcoming gravity
It's easy when you're sad to be
It's easy when you're sad, sad like me
[Chorus]
I like pleasure spiked with pain
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Songbird sweet and sour Jane
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Pleasure spiked with pain
[Verse 3]
Just one note could make me float
Could make me float away
One note from the song she wrote
Could fuck me where I lay
Just one note could make me choke
One note, that's not a lie
Just one note could cut my throat
One note could make me die
[Chorus]
I like pleasure spiked with pain
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Songbird sweet and sour Jane
And music is my aeroplane
It's my aeroplane
Pleasure spiked with pain
[Children]
My aeroplane, my aeroplane...
It's my aeroplane...
1:46 i LOVE this part!! the slight growl in his voice when he sings it is literally amazing
Wow. I forgot how actually good the guitar and bass are in these dude's tunes.
Anthony was totally my childhood crush.
no fun. this album can still be heard in a hundred years and it will still be fantastic. i don't care if it's Hillel, John, Dave or Josh or John again, i will always love the Chili Peppers. Let's be thankful that they brought so much diverse music. Love and Peace

If you're still listening to this in 2024, you're an absolute legend my friend.
Thnx 4 noticing
So is you sir or ma'am 🤘🏻🔥🔊💯
It's my AEROOOPLAAAAANEEE
We are legend!! RHCP FOREVER!! ❤
Masih
What a piece of band! They have an amazing sound with only three instruments. The Flea's bass is fu***ng superlative!
Bass line and guitar riffs are bad ass!
Saudades dessa época
Best bridge in a peppers song bar none. Don't care what anyone says this album is good like the rest of them.
Great Bass.
2:42 to 3:07 is my favorite thing RHCP have ever recorded. The drums, bass, guitar and lyrics and perfect together and really sound like a lot of their later stuff when John came back.
I agree. Very nice
yeah i know right??? when i first heard this song i head NO idea it wasn't john! which to me makes me pay mad respect to dave navarro for capturing the spirit of RHCP regardless of his own style.
No
Shure microphone sales through the roof!
One of the best RHCP albums... Dave is amazing
i f*cking love that small quiet "aww yeah" at 0:10 hahaha
Is Flea voice
how loud were you listening like jeez
My favorite part of the song.
I never noticed that until you brought it up
Thanks for pointing this out.
Love the guitar at 2:45, sick tune, I wanna be there!
Flea just slapping that bass!
"One Hot Minute isn't funky enough for rhcp"
Dave: "Hold my Aeroplane"
very very underrated album! Its just awesome one of my favorites. And this is my favorite chili pepper song. This song sums up the whole bands history. It got the pop thing, it got the funk, it got the flow, it has the psychadelic. Its the perfect chili peppers song!
I fucking love em sooo much cause they always have so many songs and their energy is so amazing. I desperately want to see em live. Ima always have love for the red hot chili peppers. I don't know how people don't like them but fuck em.
My favorite song too
The best RHCP song, and evidence that 90s music wasn't entirely joyless!
I don't see why there is so much hate around One Hot Minute... It's not that bad. It's just different from their other albums.
Something about this song gives me the biggest nostalgia hit.
Lots of people hate OHM because it doesn’t have john Frusciante. Whilst I also am a huge john Frusciante fan I don’t think the album is as bad as people say and this song is proof of that
The Trump this, warped, transcend, ohm, tearjerker, walkabout, top 3 rhcp album imo w bssm and stadium arcadium
whilst, indeed
Top 5 Album's Of RHCP
The Trump nice one trump u u fuckface
Thank you My President
Not one of their biggest hits But to me this is the Red Hot Chili Peppers song that made me love them.
Same.
I love how this is a clean version
I can blast it in my classroom
Takes me back to my Teens in an instant! I love how music can transport your mind back in time.
O John voltou!!
I miss Anthony's long hair
Kasia Liszka ja też. :)
The Getaway bez niego.
Łukasz Ciepłuch to prawda. Jesteś fanem RHCP na 6+.
George Clinton’s funkadelic influence is sprinkled throughout this masterpiece lyrically and musically.
if you like red hot chilli peppers you should check out my brothers band. its called The Doublejumps
Dave Navarro put the RHCP to an upper level
Uma das melhores performances vocais do Anthony
The bass is amazing. Flea is on another level...!
Best band in the world. I've loved them from the start and I'll love them till the end
Come on best band......you need to open up to other bands sir lol 😂
We want chilli willy
@#JohnnyDeppIsRacist nigga your pfp is Captain Jack Sparrow and you're calling him a rapist. Gtfoh with your gay ass
Why did I keep getting this song and rollercoaster of love mixed up?
I break into tears and laughter from Dave dropping his pick at 3:22 EVERY TIME 💀
😮😮😮😂😂😂
OMG I have seen this video a million times and I never noticed that!! LMAO!!!
This song should be in the dictionary as the definition of fun! The bass, the lyrics, the guitar, the drums! wow!
Best track on the record. Dave was a great addition to this band. Brought the rock edge to the funk/punk groove.
I really like this song.
This song reminds me of my high school days.
Best part of this song: the Mazzy Star mention "Into Dust". Great band. Hope Sandoval has an amazing voice.
this band is complete for me
What i liked about these guys is that they werent afraid to cross over into other genres like pop and reggae.
In my opinion that's is the best song
