Roger, Besides your interesting and informative content I appreciate your ongoing inclusivity to us in North America and elsewhere. Thank you for that and an especially delightful Advent calendar topic today. A Blessed Advent and Merry Christmas to you.
Thank you for this video Roger! In Canada, we used to call these leaflets “Spec Sheets” or “Specification Sheets”. The dealers would collect these in a three ring binder.
The Hoover vacuum in Mrs. Doubtfire was an Elite II model U4617. I consider the Elite to be our version of the UK Turbopower. It was the first major redesign to Hoover's vacuum lineup since the Dial-a-Matic. The first Elite was launched in 1988 as a budget, lightweight upright, compared to the Convertible. According to a former Hoover employee, the Convertible was still considered the company's flagship, but with its lower price point and more modern design, the Elite proved to be a huge success for Hoover. Higher-end Elites eventually replaced the Convertible by the mid 1990s, before the first WindTunnel models were launched in 1998, and became the new flagship.
The Scrub'n'Vac succeeded the original US "Floor-A-Matic" and CA "Floor Conditioner" model lines that were launched in 1967. The Ceylon Yellow one of the half-dozen or so models of various colors was even equipped with a headlight.
I seen the Elite 350 once on eBay but passed on it because I thought it was a repaired bojack job, I never knew it came in two different colors from the factory.
Mrs Doubtfire had The Hoover Elite ll Total System Performance 430 U4617-910, and you are correct the hose should not be attached while using it on floors she was not picking up anything. The Legacy on the other hand you didn’t have to worry about that all you have to do is slide the hight adjustment to the cleaning tools setting being a top of the line model. All the elite style machines are built relatively the same so yes your turbolite is exactly the same as the 200, 350, 400, 600 etc. In fact we also had the turbolite in the US but it was branded Elite 200 looks exactly the same pretty much, the Elites were great carpet cleaners very powerful airflow.
I think we had a Elite 400 upright, it was awful. I hated it. I converted my parents to US Electrolux Canister vacuum when I worked as a Door to door sales representative, which I did not do well. This, the Hoover, was made in Mexico, I remember that as well. I would love to purchase a vintage metal Electrolux Canister vacuum with its power nozzle; not only does it clean well, but it outcleans anything new.
The Elite series of vacuums was intended to be a budget model range for Hoover, more akin to compete with Dirt Devil's price point. They were very simple and stripped down.
@MrWolfSnack My family always had Hoover, which I found to be awful. Electrolux I found to be far superior, as well as flexibility because of being a Canister.

Those vacuums were from my early childhood, especially the elite style uprights that say HOOVER in bubble letters on the front.
8:48 I have this in eggshell and blue. Found it at Goodwill for $7.
Love to find all of them
Same, lol

6:05 it's only covered for the first year you own the vacuum - not for the lifetime.
I didn’t say lifetime.
I did heard the lightweight handy helpmate dose fit with the concept two electronic back in 1983 as shown for the movie House party
It came with the vacuum included.

@@frothe42 Well yeah because Electrolux was a premium brand that only released a new model every 10 years or so and was only available door to door.
