I also use ginger root when ever someone in my household starts to get sick. i use a small grater and grate some and let it simmer a little, then strain it and let them drink it plain or mixed in coffee, cocoa etc. Ginger is good for the lungs. Sometimes I add a little garlic to this mixture for an extra kick to fight against any infections. I hope your son feels better soon.... Matter of fact let's put it out there, he is better!!!!

@@Luna_moon_1127 I had read a long time ago that this was possible but after reading your comment, I question myself if what I read was indeed correct. I went to Google to research. Answer was yes that coughing can give you an abdominal hernia. Some have said Google is not reliable for health answers so then went to the National Institute of Health website ( a government site) to research some more. The information I found was that coughing can make a hernia bigger.
I didn't research further though. I'm not trying to be argumentive here just curious on the answer to the question I had. Have a good day.
