    Wokeby does such wonderful i3 upgrades !
    Frees up the frunk so nicely. And these great little cars deserve it. Nice video - cheers

    I have given this some thought, but if you have luggage in the boot, you have to remove it to get the charging cables out, whereas it is so easy to access if in the frunk. Good review and video Dave and I now know what the motor looks like!

      Thanks for your comment. Most of the time, I would suspect if you were on a journey with boot full of luggage, then you would more than likely charge at a station with a tethered lead and not need yours. If you did know that you would need a lead then this could be stowed somewhere you could access. I find most of my journeys are done without ever opening the bonnet.

    Hi Dave, thank you for the video! What type of extension cord do you use for your charger? Thank you!

      Hi. I use a 13amp cable from Industrialextensionleads. Chose one that is only a bit longer to reach. If you have a good modern fusebox I don't think you really need the RCD although it is good to have. These cables are thicker than the lead on the granny charger. Hope this helps Dave

    1:16 the phone records in mirror when you use the selfie camera. That is because people usually see themselves only in the mirror and they found that you freak people out when you show them the unmirrored self 😄

      Hi Tobin? Glad you like the bike. It's an APB Land Rover Moulton bike. Had it since 1998. Some video I've posted are featuring it, including at the Moulton meet-up in Bradford on Avon, where Dr. Alex Moulton worked designing the bikes and suspension for the original Mini's. Not sure on how to get the boot extension over in the States, but it is great and frees up the front storage for other use. All the Best Dave

    Can you put a link to the product you use to stop the brake discs going rusty please? Thanks

    • @dave20thmay
      @dave20thmay  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Blair. This is a description of the fluid. Ardrox 3968 400 ml spray. You can purchase it from Aircraft supplies. The can cost around £13 but does last a long time. If your car is not garaged, then this will need more frequent applications. It has kept my disc in near new condition. I first used it on my motorbikes to stop the salt on winter commutes from rusting the disc and it did not affect the braking at all and helped to not freeze up the calliper pistons.

      Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've only had my i3 for a month but would be keen to stop the discs from getting rusty given the brakes will not likely get used much so I'll have a look for the Ardrox spray. Thanks again 👍

    Looks very neat. How much did it cost after adding VAT, shipping and other delivery costs?

    • @dave20thmay
      @dave20thmay  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Richard. The total cost is as above. It was one of those purchases, where you look on the site and it says for non-EU countries the German Vat is removed, so it was €277. So I thought £237 does not look too bad, then you get the €38 postage by DHL. Then before it arrives you get a message saying it will not be delivered until the recipient has paid the import duty. So you phone the number, do the multi-choice exam. Then a human finally speaks and says we can't take your payment, I'll put you through to the automatic machine the phone goes dead and I start the process over again. "Using the keypad enter your 18 digit number this will be on the letter we have sent to you" Finally I got there but it seemed to take all morning.

      @@dave20thmayso other than the hassle it was not as costly as I would have thought. Just a pity that Wokeby don’t have a UK distributor. Wouldn’t work for me because I have a REx but perhaps for the future.

      The Applied fluid was used on my Brembo motorcycle brakes for over 20 years. Just stopped the rust but did not affect the braking at all.

      @@dave20thmay wow! I’m incredibly shocked at that! I’ve never heard of the product. I’ve used ACF50 on my bikes in the past(never on brakes). I’m wondering if this is a superior product.🤔

    • @dave20thmay
      @dave20thmay  Рік тому

      @@pjg2607 It is that can of 3968, which used to be 3961, but now that is a waxy foam, so that would be a real no-no. The first weekend I got my car, I went to a bike club weekend camp and it rained and my discs looked like they were made from carrots. The rust that came off stuck like anything inside the rims. That was when I decided to use my old motorbike tip of using the spray. Getting it from work, was more cost-effective as I'm sure a single can will be something like £18. But to still have the brakes looking like new, might be worth the cost.

    • @pjg2607
      @pjg2607 Рік тому

      @@dave20thmay So 3968 is the one to get then? You spray it directly onto the rotors and calipers or is care taken not to get it on the braking surface?

    • @dave20thmay
      @dave20thmay  Рік тому

      @@pjg2607 With the long tube nozzle, I put it through the spokes and give the disc and hub a blast, including the tin baffle in the hope that it covers the back of the brake disc. No problem getting on the pads. It has to be re-applied quite frequently.
