Team Oil Drop has a much better tutorial for installing this kit. It is much easier to drop the lower control arm and install that way. Also, why no mention of the adjustable clips to choose lift height? It’s one of the best features of this kit…
It is much easier to drop the lower arm and the shock assembly drops right out the bottom unless you are replacing the upper arm, then you have to do this method.
❤❤ I ordered my 5100 kit from Stage 3 MS came in 2 days ..about 3 hrs installed fronts and rears ..2" lift front .2017 TRD OR ...What a difference over the old 4600s
Can a standard spring compressor kit really not compress these enough to get on the new strut? This would be the difference of me just DIYing the entire install or just paying a shop to do it
What’s the max lift in the front for a 2020 trd off-road 4x4. And if I put on different coils will it add more height with no problem? Like the OME COILS.
I’m sorry if I missed it but what was your lift setting on the front shock? Did you make any changes to the back to lift/ level? Also, wondering what your rim size/ backspace is along with what tire size and if you had to mod for rubbing. I thank you in advance!
We set ours to the #4 clip on the front shocks which puts it at about 1.55" of lift. The rear is still stock height with the new shocks. For wheels and tires we added 17x9" (0mm offset) Black Rhino Wheels with 285/70R17 Toyo R/Ts. I did have to trim a little plastic on the inner fender and remove the air dam to prevent rubbing, but it has zero issues now. Hope that helps!
Joel Lago those settings that you mentioned are for the 5100s that fit the second generation Tacoma’s. The 5100s for the 3rd generation are different. Hope that helps.
Not OP, but it would depend vehicle to vehicle. On my 3rd gen tacoma, it's actually not recommended to do a diff drop until you get into the 2.5"+ lift region before doing a diff drop because the diff drop actually rotates the axle making it stick out more and more prone to damage.
No, its not recommended to do so till you get above a 2.5” lift. anything under that dropping the diff will just make it easier to be damaged while off-roading.
@@equalizer2233 the 4th notch right because I only see 4 lines. Not 5. So pretty much you max it out to the top which is the 4 notch. Which give you 2½ inch lift from what bilstein say.

I know right? I felt like this guy did way too many extra steps or something, he lost me at Bilstein.

Did you change the controls arms or change anything else
Please tell us how you installed those fog lights. A well detailed video would help all sr owners tremendously!
Thanks, I'll do the rears and send the rest to s shop.
How was the quality of ride after install? Stiffer or stock ride quality?

Do you need to change the upper control arms to get it aligned correctly or did it alone with the factory upper control arms?
I thought the front shocks had some sort of clip that can be adjusted to set ride height ?
Great video thanks for explaining how to install 5100 bilstein shocks ..
Happy we could help Garcia!

Did you have to install an ECGS bushing?
Is it still safe to use the 5th notch on trd offroad 4x4?and not use the provided washer on bump stop.?

What ride height setting are these on?
for two inches front and one rear I don't need the front differential drop kit Sway bar drop brackets 2019 Toyota Tacoma???

What is the average cost of labor for installation?
great video. do i need a wheel alignment after all install?
Yes
Always good to do an alignment after any suspension work as it will change the suspension telemetry which will affect alignment.
Yes
Great video im gonna do same install gonna check out your website
Much appreciated! Hope it helps
Can i put 285 wheels on my tacome after i instal the bilsteins 5100s on the 2inch configuration? Or are the wheels to big?
For anyone else watching, you most likely need 0 offset or negative offset wheel set.
What clip you guys have this on?
4
Did you just dismantle your entire front suspension to change a strut? Lmao.
If you were gonna put 285's on the 5 notch position that gives a 2" lift would have worked better for you. Then add an AAL in the rear.
For the stock spring coils?
@@guywhosleepallday8194 Yes. Bilstein designs them to be used with the factory coils.

Why does that Tacoma have drum rear Brakes??
Less maintenance, more stopping power when it gets heated, and reliable. Hense why a log of dump trucks or heavy duty utility uses them..
@@GhettoFabulous670 everything you said is incorrect. Cost is the only reason, disc brakes are superior in every way
