MT pop is one of the most technical dancers out there, for any styles. Its just the nature of this event leans towards hype more, which he brought. You can check out his other comps where he rlly showed off his popping skills.
Dancing is mandatory, but telling a story about a culture that is foreign to you on the spot speaks volume. Example, when he was on the ground and did the head tug that reminds me of a interpretation of a Indian girls getting their hair pulled for scalp circulation as a tradition. When your opponent is Indian, he knew it is a wrap.
If they support him, in fact, if you see the entire upper part, everyone supported him since he was local and if they didn't applaud any movements it was because he didn't do such complex things. Those who encouraged MT Pop did it more for the more complicated movements that MT did since all those who are sitting next to the stage are all dancers and that's why everyone appreciates when he did something more difficult.
