I cant remember seeing British road construction making the headline. Its a standard essential for a country. I still don't get nigeria road constructions. No drains, no traffic lights, cctv, maintenance assigned. Honestly I am not surprised 99.9% of the fund allocated for the project has been embezzled
Nigeria does have alot of potential and resources, yet they as all wrongly managed. Also the infrastructure standard needs to be monitored. Just because you bought a land doesn't mean you have to build crap on it.
    The problem
1.The government has no vision or plan.
    2. Accountability
    3. Corruption
    4. The citizens need to also take responsibility

@Xtons Production honestly it hurts. Well social media seems to be the only tool to get Nigerian organised. The TV media are spinless to speak the truth. Eventually nigeria will get better.

Britain and Nigeria are not the same. For starters, Nigeria did not LOOT India, Nigeria and most of the world for over a century of colonialism to build up its own economy. Meanwhile, different countries at different stages of development emphasize different things, because their citizens and populations have different immediate needs . So, let’s not ape the British and just blindly follow-follow!
Btw, rather ironic when people who have received the benefit of cheap and subsidized (perhaps even free) education in Nigeria take that education to go help build up Britain and start babbling rubbish about Nigeria. Just as the British built Britain (aided by the aforementioned LOOTING of the colonies), Nigeria’s condition is the result of the actions of ALL Nigerians (by commission or omission).

Love they you talk about the problems. Can you also give practical solutions to those problems with specific examples so people know exactly what to do to change things?

@@therealist2866 you clearly stated the difference. They looted other countries to improve their economy and country. NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT loots their own country and what do they do with it? majority of the funds looted are in foreign developed countries. I love Nigeria and trust me i am no backstabber.
Honestly various Nigerian in the country and especially outside the country will love to see nigeria improve and developed but the people in power have no intrest in the development of nigeria. If Nigerian was a functioning country, 90% of the politician should all be in jail.
All Nigerian politicians do is borrow and belive me i have nothing against loans, but the problem is the people of Nigerian never seems to benefit from the money borrowed.
The Solution to nigeria problem is not that complicated.
      1. Religion needs to be capped. Religious centres are like corner shops, they are in every street in the country.
Religion centres (churches and mosques) is more of a business opportunities for its founders.
We are the most religious country in the world, yet the economy is terrible and corrupt.
      2. Education, health, security, infrastructure system needs to improve. Budgets needs to be heavily allocated into those area. But everything in nigeria are all private.
      3. Politician should be appointed based on what he/she has to offer. Not based on political parties. (When politician speaks all I hear is parties over and over)
Salaries and allowances paid to politician also needs to be reduced by up to 90%. People don't go into politics for impact they will make. Instead its has turned to a chieftancy position, where they want to be treated like a king.

@Feyi Joseph excuses = Failure! Shouldn't that be one of their main priorities while running for office. To find a way to boost the countries revenue Yes I totally understand our budget is piss poor than western countries. Yet they are the hight paid politicians in the world.
Nigeria as a nation are in debt just like every other country. We borrow constantly from other nations but those funds are mismanaged. If any government wants to make Nigeria a greater nation, we have to set our priorities and invest heavily into it.
If a government who have a vision for the country, shouldnt they agree to take a paycut and scrap all unnecessary allowance allocated to themselves. Have you ever heard the house of rep/senate/governor went on strike for not getting paid. Yet public workers in education, security, health are being treated like slaves.
Nigeria politicians priorities do not favour the citizens because they don't care. Decades ago politicians embezzled quietly while slightly doing their job but now they openly embezzle without doing their job. Yet they all get away with it

Can anyone help or educate me please. we have an ongoing drainage project in Awofe Street(a state government project) and the quality of the job being done is nothing to write home about, how do we report this to the state government, we do not have information on what ministry is handling the project, no signpost or any clue. the community challenged the quality of the job and the contractor has moved his materials off-site. looking like another abandoned project in the making. (Project Site: AWOFE IDOWU STREET, off Arigbanla Street)

Stop the propaganda! Agege or any other place in Lagos and other part of Yorubaland is not multi-ethnic. Any non-Yoruba living in Yorubaland is an immigrant and once Nigeria breaks up, they’ll all be kicked out of Yorubaland. Yorubaland is exclusively for the Yoruba people and other Nigeria ethnic groups living in our space are immigrants. We know who we are!
