The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as the "king of instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was also regarded as the "king of instruments".

I live with my mom, uncles and family members who are getting older. I clean the floors, the tables, bathrooms etc.: in arabic culture: the daily underworld is cleaned by younger family members. The "Ma" is a Japanese garden and landscape design concept, which deals with the relationship between the inside and the outside spaces. And the treatment of that transition between them, is so important to a successful design for the Japanese, that they dedicate a lot of thought to it, as well as the attention to the finest detail, using a whole pallet of materials, plants, colour and textures, and fragrances, which give each space a unique quality, and how all the different spaces relate to each other within a harmonious whole.
Although In the music of Sogabe it isn't Japanese, the concept of Ma seems to be applied all over it; the space between two notes is just as important as the notes themselves, which provoke a series of different, but yet harmonious emotions felt when hearing the way he plays them.
As some Scottish friends used to describe the Scottish melancholic way of being; "Enjoying being miserable", but that's just to have a laugh, they mean that without being a masochist, there is always a feeling of pleasure, out of what seems poignant and moving, and that's poetry and beauty.

In my country of origin Algeria, (Watashiwa Algerin des) Oud is played in many musical styles, but the one that reminds me of your style in spirit, although less in the form, it is called Foundou from Southern-Western Algeria (Béchar) the gate to the Sahara desert, a unique style inspired by the suffering of the local miners, but also the immensity of spaces and landscapes of that region, and the impressive sensations it provokes. Its initiator and best interpreter is Called "Alla" short for Abdelaziz Abdallah.
It differs somehow from Arabic Oud because of its Berber/African origins, I hope you'll find it interesting.
